A basic rule of grammar:
Example of singular: a coherent thought.
To from the plural: drop the leading "a" and add an "s" to the noun, as in coherent thoughts.
One cannot string together a singular coherent thought.

Again, a coherent thought is comprised of several elements. A coherent thought is made up of a selection of thoughts and ideas - thoughts and ideas that are "strung together" to form something coherent.
That's co-her-ent: "marked by an orderly, logical, and aesthetically consistent relation of parts."
I guess you'll have to actually have a coherent thought before you understand. Judging by your comments, that's a long way off.
