  • Wow!

  • thanks for sharing...... !!

  • jp fraley passed away yesterday feb 17 2011

one great fiddler he leaves a great legacy

  • @shellyrat He will be missed. Thank you for letting the world know of a great man's passing.

  • I jammed with J P Fraley and Johnny Lewis at Mt. Airy in l990. I understand that JP has since died.

  • My old friend J.P. Fraley used to win all the contests with this tune back in the '70's. I was just at Clifftop last month and figured if it was good enough for J.P. it should be good enough for me. I played it and won 2d place in senior fiddle! Then just 3 hrs later I played it again for J.P. who is still alive but not playing anymore. His friends brought him to Clifftop just to listen and hang out with his old buddies. One of the greatest moments of my life! ....... Henry the Fiddler

  • Actually, Neil just told me there is a clip here at YouTube of this great moment. Check it out here:

    watch?v=6087jl3PAT8

It is part 3 of an 8 part series. Go watch em all!

  • @htfiddler Henry the Fiddler, I saw your performance at Cifftop last year and this year! Congrats!

  • my absolute favorite tune to play

  • Ali Bain gets paid to go meet and play with

these guys ,how lucky is he.

  • was there ever a better fiddler?not in my opinion.

  • Brilliant. ***** I bought the "Wild Rose of the Mountain "album about thirty years ago, but I left it in Glasgow. Hope it is in good hands.

  • The way that J. P. manages to hold on to those fantastic tremeloes in this tune is awesome !!

  • J.P. Fraley's fiddling sytle is just like the immortal John Hartford used to say - not too fast, not too slow; just the right pace. As shown here in this wonderful song. Fantastic stuff; a Beautiful Tune; I have this one on a Rounder Records compilation DVD. It really stands out !! Go, J.P. !!

  • Great fiddle playing on a good tune.
