@andeez67 - I admire Debbie, but I don't have an aesthetic for female beauty (at least not femmes - I can sort of see the appeal of some butches... :) ).
@andeeze67 - part of the reason why I've never had a posse of female friends (at least not straight ones) is that my general response to questions about beauty and the like is 'go for comfort'. When someone I knew complained how she would shave her legs and then freeze in the winter, I said: 'Then don't shave - wear pants - if you must shave, wear thick hose.' It's not as though she worked anywhere where skirts were necessary... :)
Plastic Letters is probably their most creative album. I guess some people would've preferred the more surf like sound of their first, but I think it was with Plastic Letters they really defined their own style.
Maybe there's a bit of Eno and Roxy Music buried there somewhere, but it's still very much a Blondie style album, just a little surreal. Contact in Red Square has an odd mixing, though. Interestingly, some reviewers consider the first record better. I can't imagine what they're hearing?
@mroldnewbie - I suppose they're hearing subjectivity, which is the only measure of art's impact. There's no such thing as a definitive best or worst record. I prefer the songs on the first record, but the musicianship of the second. To me, there's some dodgy material on the second record, but it's played well. And from there to PARALLEL LINES, where technique and smoothness/studio-craft REALLY started to overwhelm the material (that would be my least favourite Blondie album).
@Timmybear I suppose so, but even though the first record is fun - and I do think it's good, it's also all over the pace with little distinct "Blondie" sound. But you're obviously right that it's subjective. But since I wrote that comment above I've come to appreciate the first a bit more, if viewed as separate from the rest. It's just not a "whole" in my opinion, more like a collection of some random tunes.
@mroldnewbie - I like variety, so that's probably why I prefer the first album, though I thought that ironically part of its 'coherence' was that very variety. :)
Women just don't understand how hard it is to be a man and the difficult decisions we face. Take this video as an example: where should we fix our gaze? On Clem Burke giving a virtuoso drumming performance or on Debbie's braless titties?
Yeah! Definately my favorite Blondie song. Debbie seems a little "off" in this performance like it is the morning after, but the drummer??? I never realised just how good he actually is.
@TheRiggz: Oh Clem Burke WAS and IS awesome. One of my faves. Such a friggin' powerhouse on those skins. Safe to say that Keith Moon was a big influence on his frantic style.
@BigBulgeCheeks : in my opinion, it's possible to choose - but difficult, I'm agree ; anyway, the best one called "Will Anything Happen?" (and, second : "Bermuda Triangle Blues (Flight 45)").
Thanks for posting this. I have loved this song since I was like 7 years old (I'm 39 now). I could watch this a million times! Clem is just fucking hot in this! That man can play the drums!
avant-garde rock, art rock, for the rock intelligentsia, short lived but man, nothing today comes close to this period. Such an underrated band, truly one of the greatest rock bands, Blondie is like Garbo in German Expressionist Von Sternberg film from the 20's ephemeral

She improv'd and improved the lyrics:
I nearly fell, I feel like a lowlife in hell and I've been sucking dick for days and days ... Maybe inspired by her buddy Nancy Spungeon.
One of their best songs before all the disco crap.
