  • what size of headliner should i get for a mitsubishi diamante?

  • Video is great, only thing i am worried, that my headliner is a little bit more complicated shape (more intense "height" where the main light is mounted") and it's from 1981s car, so the "base" is very fragile, and i have no idea how to clean in from the foam completely (it's bout 90% clean now) and put the new material without damaging it...

  • Great Video... thanks so much! I had no idea how this task was accomplished. You make it look so simple! Ha!

  • Bueller... Bueller...

  • Thank you for the video. Very helpful information but I'll leave the work to you professionals.

  • I appreciated all the videos on headliner repairs. All very informative . I do believe Sunbrite auto repair Tampa Florida showed a less complicated instruction to follow overall.Thank you ---Betty G Palm Bay FL

  • You can also use a a straw broom with the board leaning against a wall.

  • Just wanted to share - the board in my truck was made out of egg carton foam. Wire brush would have torn it up so I used a vacuum cleaner attachment with short nylon bristles. Cleaned the old foam off, and vacuumed up the mess at the same time. Worked great! Also had a few cracks which were easily repaired with some 15 minute epoxy. THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEO!

  • May I ask a question? Would one 16.75 ounce can of adhesive be sufficient to cover a headliner that measures approximately 48'' X 60'', or would you recommend two cans? Thank you.

  • After watching the whole video, i asked myself why am i watching this and how did i get here.

  • Liquid Tension ??

  • good !!

  • NIce work, wish i had the space to do this

  • Great job

  • @21Shemie, yes you can just recline your right front seat all the way back and slide your headliner thru that right front door. Great video and very helpful

  • i am doing a 1982 chevy suburban headliner but i don't want to use regular headliner fabric. can i just glue the foam in and do it again with the fabric i want. i want a fishing looking fabric that they use for cabins on furniture in cabins in the mountains

  • So if u don't have a hatchback car can you still remove the board? I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Diamonte

  • Excellent video. Thanks.

  • I watched this video this morning as the headliner in VR Commodore Berlina is sagging, i'll be doing it properly on my VS, but today all I did was rip the fabric off and leave the board in (or take it off if you don't want to cover the windows in tape or anything) bought some mid grey colored spray paint, painted it, can't even tell the difference unless you touch it, just looks brand new, cheap easy fix for someone who knows people that aren't picky with road worthies.

  • how hard would it be to do in an 03 accord coupe w/ sunroof?

  • great video make me feel like i can do it my self

  • Awesome video! I'm almost done with my headliner, and it's my first time. It's hard work scrubbing the foam off, but it'll be rewarding when I feel great about my headliner.

Dream theatre was a great band to pick for this video.

    Thanks!

  • does a nice job. Learn how to spell purposes first :)

  • great how to video... I'm restoring a 64 AMC Rambler 330 2 door with the origional headliner still in it. Currently the side pieces and dome light are the only thing holding the board up. Any suggestions on if you have a warped headliner board? Should I look to a junk yard for a good board?? I know there's no new parts for this car.

  • can't find those goddamn fabrics from finland!

  • do u need that fabric? i found a really nice design in a fabric at a regular fabric store..

could i glue the reg fabric to a thin foam backing?

  • This is just what i was looking for!! Good job and Thank you

  • This is the video I'm using to do my 1984 Buick Park Ave. Thanks for the great video.

  • It is easier than I think...thanks guys now I will do that in my geo metro...

  • How difficult is it to do the columns? 00 Volvo S80 that's been garage parked both at home and work for the last 10 years and now that the wife is parking in the sun I'm having massive separation.

  • Great video.

  • great info,, I have to do this in my 97 f150 reg cab.

  • awesome video- what type of fabric did you use for the headliner?

  • This video is great... I replaced my headliner on my 1989 jeep cherokee by following these steps and it came out like it was done by a pro! My headliner took 2 cans of spray adhesive... I used one can of DAP as shown in the video and i ran out so i got one can of 3M trim super strength because there was no more DAP in the store. thank you so much without this video I would not have event attempted to replace my headliner by myself!

  • Thanks for this video, will be trying this later this week :)

  • I wonder what they keep in that cage......

  • Very nice video, cheers!

  • Does anyone know where I can buy this fabric ? Do they have it in regular fabric stores & if so what is the name ?

  • its easy as. it would take prob 40 mins :)

  • how long did this take you overall?

  • Thanks! Your video was the best and gave me confidence I could try this myself. I found matching headliner at Jo Ann Fabrics. They have specific material for headliners that has the foam backing. I tried 2 stores to find one that matches my car, Next I got the glue spray from auto parts store and got a tub brush from a .99cent store. Worked perfect! It was a little difficult taking it out, but I realized plastic pieces come right off. Then reinstalling, I finally got it my myself. Thanks

  • Nice tutorial. I liked it !

  • you can get the fabric at jo-ann fabric store and the adhesive glue at auto zone. :)

  • hey i saw the video, and i am planning to fix the roof of my car too, my car is nissan santra 99 gxe, any suggestions about materials and how to do that? any extra additional materials? where to find such materials? please let me know because i am excited to fix my roof too. thank you

  • great video also!

  • lol i love the music

  • any ideas on how hard it would be to do on a toyota corolla conquest '96 model?

  • do all cars have headliner bord? i have a ford escort clx 1,6 1994

    BTW: good video

  • wow thanks for that vid i cant believe i was almost ready to shell out the 200 to have the upholstery shop do it i have an 89 deville with no sun roof and a very basic headliner so i will definitely be applying this info

  • About $55.00 for a Ford Ranger,Thanks for share your skill I wonder if one can will be enough to cover my project!..

  • You might want to mention how long to let the glue set up. I believe it's supposed to not be tacky to the touch when it's ready to have the material set in place. About 5 minutes for 3M? And that you don't want to push with your fingers anywhere as it will leave marks. How long to let the glue set before reinstalling? I am thinking there would be less chance of finger marks from installation if the glue has dried?

  • i have a sunroof.....tips?

  • Where do you buy the replacement cloth with foam on it? Any suggestions? I have a 98 Escort with a floppy headliner & really need to replace it. I hope it is as easy as the video makes it look. By the way, this may be the BEST instructional video on Youtube! Thanks for uploading it.

  • One of best Videos on youtube!!great job explaining!!

  • Great Video man!! Ima do my 1978 Chrysler New Yorker this summer...got the headliner out already!!thanks again....

  • you have such a boring voice lol but thanks alot for the video. very useful and educational. worked perfectly for my '94 xj6

  • most helpful video on Youtube.

  • wow, they make it look like a peice o' cake!

  • Great job on this instructional video! My Suburban headliner is starting to loosen slightly from the front top near the windshield.

I guess I'll just spray some adhesive to tack it back on.

  • Awesome.

I'd been told how to do this, but seeing it done gives me more confidence for when I fix my own head liner tomorrow. :-)

  • Dream Theater?

  • Thanks

  • I want to replace the head liner on my 09 WRX, there's a bad burn in it. any suggestions?

  • so does this mean i can re- use my headlier fabric?, im asking this because its a unique fabric that costs alot

  • @TheRb16 No, the material detaches from the foam backing, becomes usless.

  • John Petrucci ROCKS!!!

  • how hard would it be to do a 79 buick? after watching this video i feel confident about doing it my self but I'm still not positive. should i leave this job to the pros or should i give it a go.

  • @brambram1990 I have a 83 fifth ave Im thinking about doing. Its gata be easy

  • where do you get headliner material?

  • how much is the headliner

  • what do you think is a good adhesive if i wanted to use vinyl as my fabric

  • Great vid and it looks easy to do. I was gonna get my headliner repaired for $150 but now I don't need to.

  • Five star!

  • Thank you so much for posting this video! I can't wait to get to work on fixing my headliner now.

  • Thanks for the awesome video - I'm doing a DIY camper conversion on my van and you've inspired me to tackle the headline myself too.

One question: If my existing headliner is in decent shape, can I just adhere new headliner directly to it? I have a chevy van with the multilayer molded foam & headliner all bonded together, but I'm adding some new large holes and edges that will need to be wrapped, so I need to re-cover everything. Hoping I can leave the existing stuff intact!

  • this is the best video out on youtube. thanks alot for the advice... got a 325i bmw with sunroof. will the sunroof pose any difficulties??

  • This is by far the best video on headline repair I found on the internet. THANK YOU!

  • How about a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria, Thanks...

  • that video was great i had a friend pay nearly $2000 n its not really hard to do at all

  • how hard is replacing my headline for my 1997 Bonneville SE? My visors have lights in them and wires are preventing my visors from completely coming off. Will i need to splice these?. Oh and my car has a sunroof

  • Comment removed

  • looking good bro. But what happen if torn the headliner got torn or broken in one area. Do I need to replace the whole thing? do I have to look in the junk yard for

same model 97 corolla for the piece that hold the fabric form? Please advise. Thanks.

  • @BigDave331 if the headliner board is damaged after removing the old material and foam, you may have to get a replacement board (used is fine). You can sometimes patch/repair the old board. The foam back headliner material hides minor damage pretty well.

  • This is a really great DIY! ! ! Imma try this on my fabric side panels on my 03 benz :D

  • Very well done, Thanx and Cheers!!

  • hi haw hard is it to do a 1984 grand prix

  • @chevyjordan500 That, I would say, is one of the easier ones as long as it doesn't have a sunroof.

  • Thank You for a professional but easy to understand video. I'm going to follow your instructions and fix my van asap. Thanks again for making it easy to understand.

  • how hard would it be to do it on a 96 eagle talon?

and if you want to do the visors as well like changing the colors on from grey to black because my headliner is grey but i want it black, would that be difficult to do?

  • @DjKresht The visors are sometimes more difficult than the headliner. Visors have to sewn sometimes on a commercial machine. The headliner is not bad...with no sunroof.

  • Great information, thanks for sharing :)

  • Thanks for the great video...getting ready to do a 2000 land rover discovery II any suggestions?

  • @cadufrene You may need extra wide material...64" wide...measure the width to make sure.

  • can u get this at auto zone? and how much?

  • @iiNaRcOtIkZz Ask Auto Zone......

  • @iiNaRcOtIkZz yea its a kit. with glue and fabric for around 60$

  • im just going to take my car in and let a pro do it.

  • What if the car has side airbags would that be a problem when taking off the side trims ?

  • Comment removed

  • @sipahi61 No. It should however be approached with a bit more caution. All the panels that confine the board are removeable. Some are a bit tougher than others. Something else to keep in mind: old plastic gets brittle and breaks easily. Be prepared for that possibility, for in the trade, it happens all the time! If you can carefully pull an edge out far enough to see behind, often you will see the clip or device holding it in place and deal with it accordingly. How do I know? I'm in the video!

  • Very neet what's the actewel name of the fabrick though . I'm looking to do a 3rd genaration bird with tee tops and is that material felt with extrem thin rubber on the back ? Thanks maybe you can. Let me know howabout finding that material thanks mrtoknee641 Y. T.The toe great job guys

  • @mrtoeknee641 The material is called 'foam backed headliner material'. The thin rubber may be a layer of the headliner board. The older headliner boards would separate sometimes. Check my uploader comments at the top on where to possibly find the supplies and material.

  • My headliner is torn everywhere in my 1995 Ford Ranger. I'm looking to do something very similar to how you demonstrated in this video. Is there any difference in difficulty for me to do this. Thanks

  • @BrettSk8ter Your truck is one of the easier ones to do. You may need a Tork bit to remove your seat belt bolts...

  • @trimman1 Alright thats fine. I have plenty. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the video. I'm gonna try mine now and see where it goes.

  • Thanks for the upload! it helped a whole lot and gave me a new perspective.

  • Very well done video.... thanks.

  • best video ever.

  • where can i buy the materials

  • @IceCold314 Material- Local fabric store or upholstery shop. Some wholesale material suppliers will sell to retail. Glue- Auto parts store or one of the above mentioned. Some auto paint suppliers may have it. Stick with (no pun intended) a 3m 8080 or 8090 or one of the products shown in the vid. Some contact cements can be sprayed from a paint gun. That is what most upholstery shops do...

  • Thanks for the video, very simple and useful!

  • i have a 67 pontiac catalina 4 door sedan but could use a new headliner. many parts of it seem very different than any car made in the past 30 years or so. im sure i will get someone to redo it for now but any ideas of what would be a good way for me to redo it if i want to in the future?

  • @rosswebb08 We call that a Bow-Style headliner. Completely different animal. Its a sewn vinyl pattern installed with metal rods or 'bows'. A pre-made headliner can usually be purchased and you use the existing bows.

  • THANKS FOR POSTING! THIS HAS HELPED ME A LOT... GOD BLESS

  • Skeet skeet.

  • Great

    Thanks

  • Why do you let the glue dry before you lay the liner on ?

  • @erikinhawaii You dont let it completely dry, you give it time to tack up(5 to 10 minutes). It makes it easier to work with the material (glue doesnt grab - allows you to lift the material up if needed). Rubbing the material w/pressure makes it grab...

  • @trimman1 - Ohh I see. Thank you for the answer.

  • 5:50 NO SHIT!!!

  • @MrChadillac420 ...please, only people old enough to actually drive should be responding here. Go fix your Tonka trucks little Chad.

  • I need to do this myself. Thank you.

  • This is a very good overview of how to re-cover your fabric headliner.

  • Fantastic video! Thank you thank you thank you! I really needed this information.

  • nice video do more i like learning from these videos. if i can make a request could you do a video on convering manual locks over to power lock keyless entry?

  • After realizing the shop was near me in Tampa I had them do the install. Very fair price, great job, and nice people. I would highly recommend them. Thanks Robert

  • ahhhh i have a galant 96 and i have no idea how to take off seatbelt???

  • thank you mate :)

  • Thankyou very usefull!!!!!!!!!!

  • how much would a job like this cost, on a 94 Nissan sentra, by a professional?

  • @lilrick98 It varies. Can be anywhere from 50 bucks to 150 bucks. But in this business, you get what you pay for! Buyer beware!

  • @40philboy well ive done it myself n it came out great n its been holding out so far...

  • @lilrick98 That's great to hear! I'm glad it worked out well! If it's been at least a month and it's still holding up, then I think you're good to go!

  • Check your local fabric store or auto upholstery shop.

  • Thanks this really helped me tons!!! You rock!
