i dont understand how sounding like Pantera is in anyway a bad thing... wether they are trying to or not... let them do it... because they are doin a fucking good job of it and people seem to like it...
it's dave.. he looks just like phil.. but the phil of the far beyond driven era... plus.. phil has the UNSCARRED tattoo in his belly, in 2006 phil ain't look like that.. one more thing.. WHERE THE FUCK IS THE MOSH? i mean.. in argentina if throwdown make a new level.. we destroy everything.... please have more power make mor mosh.. please!
there is no more pantera and if someone does this good of a job sounding like them fuck yeah dude letem do it they got a record deal and sound fuckin awesome
The Singer is Dave Peters From Throwdown Obviously...He lists Pantera and Sepultura as his 2 fav bands as well as Tool, but you can definately tell that Phil Anselmo has influnced him by his voice, appearance and actions, and quite frankly...I dont fucking blame him, I sound just like Phil and Dave Peters myself when I play shows with my band...I love Pantera and Throwdown is just a band that Pantera gave birth too, FUCKING LOVE THEM BOTH!
Pantera may influence Throwdown now but they have been around for a long time and were never trying to sound like Pantera. This isn't even their original singer, and even this guy didn't used to sound like Phil. I hope they don't turn into some Pantera wannabes. That would be the surest way to assure their speedy demise.
lol yeah cause a band making 5 platinum albums and becoming one of the most influential/known metal bands in history is definitely terrible. how the hell would being more like pantera ruin their careers?
You're absolutely right: popularity could be great for the band. I'm just concerned that Throwdown will lose their unique identity by trying to be more like some other band. I'm an idealist, though: I want a band to continue to be meaningful rather than jump on a trendy sound to make a buck. I don't want them to lose their edge (not talking about straightedge) in the pursuit of the almighty dollar. Maybe they're that awesome they will keep it up. Their latest record has me doubting.
theirs nothing remotly original, or unique about throwdown, right down to the esp/emg/drop-tuned/cookie monster vocals. Throwdown is like peanutbutter...it don't matter what brand you like, their all the same.

I was thinking the same thing looking at the lead singer. They fuckin' rocked. Any tribute to Dime is the shit to me. Rip Dime, I love you brother.
