This video is a good demonstration of the difference between the accuracy and precision. (Regadless of accuracy, this is not very precise.) However, it is a good tutorial for beginners or Brooklyn guys from the city.
Dopes. This video is very informative. Declination is not an issue, because he is using the meridians on the map, coinciding with the grid lines in the dial. The meridians and not declination is the guide.
Me, a Brooklyn guy from the city, needs to explain this?
man the quality of this video is PISS POOR. The guy is talking and looking at his map like we can see exactly what he is seeing. We can't!. The camera doesn't show. A few minutes later it does, but very poorly and the light metering is completely off, showing the rocks on the floor perfectly but leaving the guy's hand and compass almost black. This vid needs to re-made by some one who knows how to make videos.
The distance is small so there is no need for declination. What is 2 degrees in 1-2km? He could see the lake when he got to his landmark.

In wales or other extremely open areas like scotland, small lakes can be enormous its just the openess of the terrain that makes things look small.
