So these are Destructive Devices? I always thought they were All Other Weapons for some reason (wishful thinking I guess... that $5 transfer tax for AOW's is so much nicer than the $200 tax for the other NFA stuff).
@Thatevilmidget Most Striker's DO have the 18 in. barrel, so it slips the gun out of the AOW/SBR category. I don't know for certain if you still have to have the stamp to own one with the shorter barrel. Not so sure that they are classed DD's either, you can purchase them at gun shows without ANY stamp, IF you can ever find one... Still a very cheaply made and horrible shooting piece though.
@rangerstubbs76 That IS quite a large if. I've seen a grand total of 2 of 'em at shows (both at the same exact Tulsa show oddly enough... They were on the same aisle, 4 tables down from each other. One guy wanted $3800 for his and the other wanted $1100, but I was in the market for a Mosin 1907 carbine so I didn't bother with either). I agree, they really are a worthless shotgun, but they're fairly interesting from a collector's standpoint.
@Thatevilmidget Wow, to see two at the same show is rare indeed... only saw one for sale at any gun show I've ever been to and the other was owned by a friend of mine. He misaligned the drum reassembling it and wound up blowing the barrel off. I got called to fix it. Took a month to get the parts. Traded it right off for a nice preban AK. You are right, only from a collector's standpoint would I say a Striker was worth it, $1100 but certainly not $3800. Hope you got that Mosin.
@rangerstubbs76 I wish I would've. Gentleman selling it wanted $1400 for it, which seemed high when I was looking at it... but as I walked away I regretted it, went back to pick it up, and found out it had sold. Still kicking myself for that.
the BATF is dumb as rocks and sould be stoped, this gun holds 12 shells that are loaded one at a time. you can get a saiga12 shot gun and buy 20 rd. drum mags, which one is deadlier? and when I think about it, aren't all firearms destructive?
@horndog2224 It is essentially whatever the BATF wants it to be. When the Striker 12 and StreetSweeper first came out they were not considered DD's. Now they are so BATF can control the sale and distribution of them. Don't be surprised if some liberal administration tries to make .50 Cal's into DD's, then all .50's would have to be registered. Look at Kalifornia. Think about that for a while....
@eleyarms commiefornia* fixd yer spelling buddy=D and tomorrow is ALL 12 ga shotguns disguised as a ban on "large caliber weapons" don't forget them .50 bmg heat seeking rounds too buddy=D
@cvjason93 Complete a Form 4, get it signed by your local police chief and pay the BATF their $200 for a one time tax stamp. That's it IF your state allows destructive devices in the hands of civilians.
@cvjason93 u got get one made in america by cobray but the ones made in america r crap at least i think cus for awhile south africa was under an arms embargo so they started creatin theyre own guns like the protecta (striker) i think cobray prolly imports the parts then builds the receiver here in the u.s. and add sum touches to make it legal in the civilian market but idk thats wat id do... all gun companies hav there ways around shit
a saiga 12 (russian ak 12 gauge) can except a MD-20 rd drum easily and 5-13rd stick mags, i believe the usas 12 has a 20 rd drum as well besides the AA. the AA is garbage
Depends on what state you live in. If permitted in your state, they are available to non-felon civilians upon filing out the proper paperwork and getting a signoff of local law enforcement. They are registered with ATF as Destructive Devices. Depending on condition and a number of other factors, they run around $1500 plus $200 tax to the Feds. Search "NFA Weapons state laws" for laws affecting your ability to purchase.
Not sure why it's considered a Destructive Device unless it's because it's a short barreled shotgun. But there is a separate, less restrictive classification for an SBS than a DD. Not all BATF regulations makes sense. Kinda like ObamaCare.
there is only two shotguns that are DDs the USAS-12 and the striker12/ss shotgun there only DDs cause bill clint says there evil looking and back in the 80's these were the only 2 with drums they will never be re'classified that sucks i really wanted a striker 12 yrs ago but dont want to pay the 200 tax stamp and paper work to the ATF and FBI
did some guy in the video seriously ask what's that on the ground! thats still doesnt annoy me as much as all those snot nosed kids who act like experts cause they play call of duty. f"ing shit
Yeh, that was me asking Freeman what was on the ground because he did not think the shells would automatically eject. The Striker ejects the spent shells -- the Street Sweeper does not. I have one of each. I posted this clip for folks to enjoy. If it gets too controversial, I'll just take it down.
@Cros451 He seriously asked what that on the ground was because the drum has a loading gate that was supposed to be kept closed after loading. It annoys ME because you still made that comment when you OBVIOUSLY havn't ever fired on of these or you'd KNOW that...
if you use grenade rounds for the first round, then the rest being normal shot, it wont work anyway, cuz once you sqqeeze that trigger, the grenade knocks your ass back and the rest oare just shot into the air...
The AA-12 is just a waste of ammunition if you really want to know the truth. Semi auto shotguns will always be more controllable than a fully automatic one.
yeah, but a full auto shotgun is just plain overkill. the LEAST they could have done is still made it semi auto, but simply have less recoil and fir faster. other than that, its just too damn much to be reasoned with.
what do you mean overkill, theres no such thing, once something is dead it can't become anymore dead, so use the biggest and baddest thing you got to make sure the job is done.
It's one of those government fictions, like the definition of an assault weapon. They weren't DD's when they first came out. Next thing they will probably DD .50cal.
You could take down alot with that.
Steamrollersmoker 1 month ago
Yes, they are classified as DDs. Currently running around $1300 + $200 NFA tax. StreetSweepers are going for around $1100 + $200 NFA tax.
