@ihugtheworld At best, you could call it a "physics engine" and at worst you could call it eye candy, which still isn't too bad ;)
The pupose was to see if I could do something like this, back in 2006. I still work on it from time to time, right now just up against learning JOGL to make it 3D interactive.
Hi, I'm a mechanical engineer. I work for Strand7, we have a lot of civil engineering clients. I haven't used this for anything specific, mostly just to play with and explore structural dynamics.
it looks and feels great! but...what is it exactly and what's its purpose?

Thanks for the good feedback! I think you might need the latest Java VM install v1.6.
Could you let me know what Java version was being used?

Dear Kava,
fan-tas-tic! congrats. I am a media artis currently building a mesh-like movable videoscreen...and came accross your work!
I can only second what Airo-san said: You really should approach the media art world with your SpringThing.
Send it straight to ars electronoca! VJs will probably also get CRAZY on this. I have seen similar things built in quarz composer.

I like your 'SpringThing' a lot.
Can you tell me what you major in?
Have you applied this beautiful analysis to any other....like architectural engineering, media art, etc..?
....I'm an architect from Japan..and am interested in it...

Thanks!

Thanks for the comment!
I see...engineer...Strand7...I know that many structural engeeners (even in Architecture) use finit element analysis...
This morphing structure stimulate me a lot....kinetic surface, kinetic structure... for the architecture...
wanna collaborate with a people like you to make a nice project in the future...
I hope that it will be developed further.

I'm planning on making a demo of a building construction. Maybe with some flying buttresses. :)

And if you want it to slow down like it used to, use the ms command -
ms 4
should do it well. Maybe try 6.
