He says that he has struggled with alcoholism all of his life, and that the humiliation of this video has led him to now get some professional treatment. If this video had never been made, he would still be an alcoholic, and not getting the help that he so badly needs.

Here's what I believe OSU needs to do to address this. They need to meet with Mike and inform him that he is suspended and will be reinstated if he agrees to be evaluated and if found to have an addiction agree to be placed into a program that deals with substance addiction. Once completed and reavaluated he then may be eligible for reinstatement.

While this video is certainly hard to watch and embarrassing for Mike and OSU - it isn't really anyone's business except for Mike's. I assume he travels with the team, and in doing so we expect him to behave in a manner that sets an example to the young men and women athletes. @zxer91 Where is the line drawn? There are media personnel (journalists, etc.), family, and alumni that travel with the team and "represent the university". It isn't their duty to set an example - nor is it Mike's. These "young men and women athletes" are ADULTS - I don't see how a radio broadcaster is an appropriate role model. Like I said before, he committed no crime and broke no rules. It's embarrassing - that's it. I'm not sure it's even possible to "sweep the matter under the rug".

Here's what I believe OSU needs to do to address this. They need to meet with Mike and inform him that he is suspended and will be reinstated if he agrees to be evaluated and if found to have an addiction agree to be placed into a program that deals with substance addiction. Once completed and reavaluated he then may be eligible for reinstatement.

While this video is certainly hard to watch and embarrassing for Mike and OSU - it isn't really anyone's business except for Mike's. I'm sure he's thoroughly humiliated and will seek treatment, but until he commits a crime - or harms himself / others - it isn't our business!

I assume he travels with the team, and in doing so we expect him to behave in a manner that sets an example to the young men and women athletes. I don't want to see him get terminated, but I do expect the university to address this matter in a professional manner that not only is in the best interest of Mike, but also does not sweep the matter under the rug.

@zxer91 Where is the line drawn? There are media personnel (journalists, etc.), family, and alumni that travel with the team and "represent the university". It isn't their duty to set an example - nor is it Mike's. These "young men and women athletes" are ADULTS - I don't see how a radio broadcaster is an appropriate role model. Like I said before, he committed no crime and broke no rules. It's embarrassing - that's it. I'm not sure it's even possible to "sweep the matter under the rug".
