The obvious reason why they never included animated cutscenes is because they only have the animations for the male mc, not for the female mc. If they did both mc's then they will run out of space on the umd. Get it now?

I have a question for you awasome gamers! I bought this on sale yesterday because it looks very interesting. I own a PS3 and PSP and I play games like Fallout, Castlevania, Dead Rising 2, FF Crisis Core, Y's seires and so many others. I am not a casual gamer & I have never played Call of Duty or Halo. I play bass and sing for a couple OC bands, I write, sketch and really enjoy art. This is why I was attracted to this game. Will I understand the game if I start from P3P? Any beginer tips?
u dont need to worry my friend, p3p is just a remake of persona 3, the persona games are all unique and dont share the same story so it doesn't matter what persona game you start from :)

I love this game. I know people want a Persona 5 coming out, and might have rather had that then this remake but I honestly love it. I don't have time to play console games because I'm a full time college student and work too. I certainly wouldn't mind if they made a P4, after they make P5 of course. Admittedly I dunno how they would be able to fit a remake for P4, or eventually P5, onto the PSP. As it is they had to cut out all animated cut scenes. Luckily the intro is really pretty :) <3

This game will kick ass. Yes, we've seen P3 and P3FES, but being able to play P3 on the go, thats a dream. Plus a female main character is a nice twist
The only thing that bugs me is that they had to cut a lot of things from the game that showed up in the PS2 original. Namely the walking around the school manually, which although some might consider repetitive helped give me a good idea of the setting, and the cut scenes. There really isn't much they can do about it though since the reason this was done is because of storage issues on the UMD. =(
and those mask represent the social links people have with one another which is another core part in the persona series, which make it work so well, nice post.
continuing on since my post ran out of words. The whole concept of persona is the psychological aspect of it. In persona 3, they fit greek lore into there with Orpheus, Thanatos, and Nyx. Nyx, the goddess of the night gives birth to thanatos. Thanatos, the god of death in greek lore, is also a psychological term for someone with a 'death drive'. How Thanatos comes out is also exactly how Orpheus died in greek mythos too. Persona 3 is a mix of psychological aspects and greek pythos.
I know this is late and all, but the butterfly in persona 3/4 does stand for the butterfly effect, but I also heard that in japan that they're a symbol of death. And there is no deity in any lores called Philemon. He was just a character created for persona 1 and 2, and ATLUS decided that Igor made a far more awesome character to give out personas then a man wearing a butterfly mask. Igor makes them go under contracts. Phile just gives them out, theres a difference.
I just plain love the P3P opening theme. The song is amazing, along with the video that goes along with it. Especially the part saying "Anima/Animus." Animus = Male side of someone. Anima = Female side. Since you have both the male and female MCs, it fits too perfectly.
So... what exactly is it with the butterfly? I know it seemed to be an important concept to Aigis is P3, but I never really understood the full meaning of it...

Sadly he only appears in Persona 2, while players of P3(FES) and P4 just see him in his butterfly "disguise" and as such never understand the meaning behind the butterfly~
@Ilovemariofan I dunno if you know, but translating Persona 3 in an anime isn't the best idea. The manga is kind of confusing, since the day system is used... in a random order. One chapter could be, say May 29th, and the next could be January 5th. Plus, for the full moon missions, they'd have to skip lots of days.

Actually, Ryoji is going to be a romantic S. Link for the female MC--really the only official canon romantic link for her. Junpei never is. He's your buddy forever. :D I think Akihiko is a romantic link...I'm not sure about the others. The dog is now Strength S. Link. But they made it more like P4 in that they made more of your teammates S. Links, not just the girls. And they can take fatal hits for you and all, too.
So if I played this game I would have to choose either Junpei, Akihito or the little kid...? Eww...well, Akihito's pretty cool though. (except his swimsuit horrified me O.O) I noticed in some pics on the internet that they had costumes in this game. Does that mean that they combined FES into this one? Because I don't want to have to buy this game and FES

@Snappybolt Alright, I did some research and I have the full Social link list! Apparently the guys you can date/hang out with are: Junpei, Hidetoshi, Ken, Akihiko, Shinjiro, Bebe, Akinari, Kisuke, and Ryoji.
I mean, the FMC is an alternate storyline already. They'd have to include two versions of The Answer as well as The Journey. I'd think it'd have to be on a separate UMD or downloadable, and AFAIK it's not available at all. It's too bad if so.
I didn't get to play any of the Personas so far, and they're all going to be ported to the PSP, I might buy one rather than get a PS2 and play the originals. But if stuff is missing, I may as well buy the PS2.
They have the costumes and the other additions to the Journey from FES. THat's what I meant. They don't have The Answer on the PSP. The Answer is pretty short anyway. You can be satisfied just playing P3P, don't worry.

There won't be a Persona 4 Portable. Atlus has stated that there won't be anything like that or an FES version because they already did everything they wanted for P4 when they released it.

Seriously, The Answer basically sums up the entire P4 story in one paragraph! Haha. Honestly, I persona 3 was hard to play for some girls, since they couldn't play as a girl, so this was a good idea in my opinion.

Personally, I think that now they're just advertising P3. I love P3, and I played the FES version first (and beat it). But when they drag it over to the PSP, even if they add new content like the MC is a girl, they're just using it to make money and the producers don't care about the true meaning behind the game's story. They just want more money. However, if they remade P3 on PS3, then it's not a total add-on/spinoff. I just feel that they're using the game's poplarity to make more money.

Well, it's people much like yourself who overlook the whole ideals and morals that P3 has to offer from its story. I could be wrong, though. Atlus could be trying to expand the game's popularity to allow other people the chance to play it and learn from the morals and lessons that can be learned from the characters and story. Perhaps they are giving what the fans want, but not so much of what the fans need: a realization that this world is not the way it should be.

Another thing I found after listening to this several times; The entire song is completley boring and slow untill the chorus(for those of you who arent very bright, it starts when Mitsuru holds the evoker to her head)

That was an odd shot near the end, with Fuuka and Aigis mirroring... does that mean Fuuka gets on the battle field and Aigis takes her place, in the female MC story?
hope they will release an english version with the option to choose Japanese voice but still in english text. Its a quick way to save time and money on looking for english voice actors really. they should do this.

(except his swimsuit horrified me O.O) I noticed in some pics on the internet that they had costumes in this game. Does that mean that they combined FES into this one? @Snappybolt Alright, I did some research and I have the full Social link list! Apparently the guys you can date/hang out with are: Junpei, Hidetoshi, Ken, Akihiko, Shinjiro, Bebe, Akinari, Kisuke, and Ryoji.

I mean, the FMC is an alternate storyline already. They'd have to include two versions of The Answer as well as The Journey. I'd think it'd have to be on a separate UMD or downloadable, and AFAIK it's not available at all. It's too bad if so.
I didn't get to play any of the Personas so far, and they're all going to be ported to the PSP, I might buy one rather than get a PS2 and play the originals. But if stuff is missing, I may as well buy the PS2.

They have the costumes and the other additions to the Journey from FES. THat's what I meant. They don't have The Answer on the PSP. The Answer is pretty short anyway. You can be satisfied just playing P3P, don't worry.

There won't be a Persona 4 Portable. Atlus has stated that there won't be anything like that or an FES version because they already did everything they wanted for P4 when they released it.

Seriously, The Answer basically sums up the entire P4 story in one paragraph! Haha. Honestly, I persona 3 was hard to play for some girls, since they couldn't play as a girl, so this was a good idea in my opinion.

in japan and europe it's rated for 12+....in america it's rated for Mature because of the evoker..if they rated the game Teen in america they probably would have to change the evoker which would be no fun....

The characters tend to say.. damn, bitch, ass, and shit regularly. When I first bought it.. I was always wondering why it was rated mature.. but when you play it you'll definitely notice why

Personally, I think that now they're just advertising P3. I love P3, and I played the FES version first (and beat it). But when they drag it over to the PSP, even if they add new content like the MC is a girl, they're just using it to make money and the producers don't care about the true meaning behind the game's story. They just want more money. However, if they remade P3 on PS3, then it's not a total add-on/spinoff. I just feel that they're using the game's poplarity to make more money.

Well, it's people much like yourself who overlook the whole ideals and morals that P3 has to offer from its story. I could be wrong, though. Atlus could be trying to expand the game's popularity to allow other people the chance to play it and learn from the morals and lessons that can be learned from the characters and story. Perhaps they are giving what the fans want, but not so much of what the fans need: a realization that this world is not the way it should be.
