  • if you ever want to take something more natural other than more medical medications, kelp is great for correcting the thyroid. You can get it from a health food store. I dont know if you would be interested but if you are sick of medication this may be a good alternative. You can also research it on the net if your interested

  • When I was diagnosed with underactive thryoid I actually look back and realize how much of a blessing it was. I thought it was normal to feel tired, to feel anxious to feel like crap. I didnt realize how sick I was until I began to feel better, which wasnt until 3 months into taking my medication. Good luck. This isnt a curse, but look at it as a blessing. You are going ot start feeling so much better!

  • unbelievable you just said the same things that i feel i am 25 years old male got my hypo 2 years ago and since than my life changed in the negative way

  • I know I am late in watching this video but was your Under-active thyroid detected by blood work or by ultrasound?

I have a cold nodule and it is not giving me problems but they want me to remove it, and I do not want to be dependent on hormone therapy if they do this. Thanks for the video.

  • thank you for sharing-i just found out i have that hashimotos...feeling overwhelmed with it all but videos like this really help give some support so thanks again..plz come back and share your experience...its appreciated!

  • Check out the side effects of Synthroid - "increased appetite" and "changes in appetite." Explains my 40 lb weight gain since being on it. Always starving and couldn't figure out why. Skip my meds, and I'm not hungry any more. Same symptoms with me - headaches, rapid heart beat, weight gain, anxiety, etc.

  • I'll be 24 on the 18th and i'm going to get my thyroid tested on friday. I've been gaining weight, late periods, sensitive to cold, and i cant help but believe i have an overactive thyroid, my grandma had to have part of hers cut out and i'm kinda scared.

  • exccersise is proven to fight fatigue , relax avoiding stress u produce lesscortisol levels and you will feel better .........last year i was diagnose with hipothyroidism with an TSH test but I think this test very innacurate now it sais my T3 and T4 hormone levels are normal , my parent think its in my head! its very depressing but i'm kinda learning how to live with it and how to get better

  • i completely feel your pain hon... i am almost 21 years old ann i have felt this way since i can remember and it is terrible. it is ok to vent about this, it is a huge part of who you are now and it is scary. if you ever need to talk just message me and i will respond as soon as i can....

  • OMG I have the same syptoms and the doctor said my thyroid was fine. Did you have palpatations of the heart.? Just curious I have the same prob.

  • @kekedj214 you need to go get checked out by another doc hon cuz heart palpitations is one of the side effects of hypothyroidism... if you have any questions i will do my best to help. good luck and dont give up on finding out what is goin on with your body...

  • also check out dr janet lang. she deals with nutrient deficiencies and the effects on the thyroid especially with women.

  • you should check out iodoral, its an iodine/iodide suppliment. Its been helping me with my hypothyroidism.

  • I was on Levothyroxine for a few years, until it no longer was effective. Went from 50 mc after a year, to 75 Synthroid. Seems my body always wants a little more. I first found I had it when I became so tired in the middle of the day, I almost collapsed. I was walking 2 hours a day and was beginning to gain weight, plus my BP and Chol. went through the roof. Life's not as it was before I had Hypo, but it's livable, but now I've developed a case of Psoriasis & food allergies, sigh.

  • @emeraldvenus theres a book called your bodies many cries for water that might be of interest to you for your psoriasis and allergies. Also, for your hypothyroidism read up on iodine. I started to take iodoral and its been helping me a lot. Even a small dose since i am just starting on it. It could make you brake out in a rash though becuase of bromide in the system. iodine will get that nasty stuff out, but could cause a rash and stuff.

  • im a 22yr old male. over a year i been having, high blood pruesser, neck and upper back pain, tiredness, feeling sleepy, lightheadness, deppersion, anxity, and after eatting i get wired feeelings. can u plz tell me if u have these symotoms. im sick and tired of feeling tired. im always in pain. my neck is always tight. i really dont know wats going on i need HELLP!!

  • Me too, my level was 17,7

  • I was recently diagnosed too. I have a 8.5 level, which is very high. I think this is the cause of my weight... The doc said once I go on medication I should drop 40 pounds! Do you think that sounds right?

  • God bless, I'm glad you have medical care I have no insurance and the same issues as you and I'm just hanging on and praying that something happens to help me. I'm very depressed and very over weight. I have gained a lot of weight and get sick easy and I get the numb arms and legs and I swell. I pray you get well and stay well!

  • in a week? you feel better? I've been on meds for two years and have had the dosage adjusted about 12 times....and I have gained a full 15 pounds and I lift weights and do cardio (on synthroid) - and currently my tsh was high (feeling like crap again and gaining weight) and now my dose has been adjusted AGAIN...I HATE THIS

  • @missAntoiniaSyrene get some iodoral, its iodine/iodide. 12.5 mg start out with one pill a day and see how it goes! Eventually add another one like after lunch. Take your time with it though. It has a detox effect of sorts.

  • @wheelori814 does iodine help you lose weight?

i have hypothyroidism and i have tried everything! i eat very healthy, have cut out all soft drinks, processed juices, 1 hour of cardio 5 times a week, and yet nothing!

my thyroid makes it nearly impossible! I've read that iodine helps speed up your metabolism, which helps you lose weight...have you tried it before? did it work?

  • damn spit it out

  • @300lbbenchpress

    is the anxiety lol

    i know how she feels

    bless x

  • People with underactive thyroid glands who take Synthyroid (thyroxine) should be warned that this drug stimulates osteoclast activity, accelerating bone resorption, and leading to osteoporosis. Natural thyroid medication is available in most countries and is far superior.

  • I thought armour was reformulated and doesn't work as well...any suggestions?

  • Thyroid disease has become epidemic, due to our stressful lives and ill-conceived diets. Soy, in particular, which is used so widely now, suppresses thyroid function and should be banned in all its forms.

  • hi i just wanna ask do u ever experienced tremors due to taking synthroid???

  • My doctor gave me something called Lugol's Strong Iodine for my low thyroid. I asked and he didn't know exactly how much iodine was in each drop, but said to take two per day. How much is in one drop? A quick Google search seemed to indicate there were about 6mg per drop. This seems like way moer than found in sea vegetables, the highest source of iodine in the world.

  • I am going to have a blood test tomorrow because of my symptoms. Dr said I may have any thyroid problem and i am really nervous about it. Thanks for sharing your experience.

  • hope it goes well dear

  • try a gluten free diet... i have been on it for 4 months and my anti TPO went from in the 300's to 112 in 3 months. I have also lost 25 pounds since being on the diet. I have hashimotos and hypothyroidism since i was 15.

  • gluten free? What do you eat? just curious - how many calories a day? what is your tsh? I might have to try that... and what is anti tpo?

  • you should get a free T3 test along with a Reverse T3 test on the same day... If the ratio between the 2 is less than 20 you may have a Reverse T3 issue.

  • You could have high Reverse T3 and not know it.

Also Stress can affect your adrenals (cortisol levels) which in turn cause low thyroid/hypothyroidism. So a 4xdiurnal saliva adrenal test is crucial to see how the adrenals are doing. Hope this helps.

  • Were your headaches like migraine?

  • more in the back of my head

  • Comment removed

  • I have been suffering with subacute Thyroiditis for 4 years. I have both overactive and underactive thyroid. As time changes, so too does my Thyroid. I have been on Thyroid suppressants to eltroxin.

Keep going to the doctor, keep asking questions. And at th eend of the day, ask for the Thyroid to be shut down. And go on permanent thyroid replacement.

  • Hi there,

can i just ask what type of pain you experience?? Do you ever have lower left abdominal pain?? I have been struggling for an answer to my symptoms for a while, and have so many of the stated symptoms, but have never seen abdominal pain and bloating mentioned?? Thanks

  • @ski2014 have no lower pain just bloating and discomfort when I sleep.

  • The thyroid doctor said I had an enlarged thyroid, measuring 26.5cm cubed via thyroid ultrasound. It was caused by excessive consumption of soy, a goitrogen, combined with deficiency of iodine -- I don't eat processed foods or iodized salt. Anyhow, I was on the high soy kick for about 16 months. Does anyone know how long it will take to reduce my goiter to normal size, which I believe is 14cm cubed? I've been 100% off of soy for 23 days, and have been eating fish on occasion for iodine.

  • @DerekChaunessey Not sure derek, there are some good resources out there, I find the Live Journal Thyroid community to be a lot of help

  • Funny... I was looking for Lugol's Iodine and I clicked on you Girl...

Please Youtube - Making Lugol's Iodine (Part 1 of 2) - from HerbsPlusBeadWorks.

Also watch how he makes his butter - How to Make Butter (Part 1 of 2) - he talks about the Thyroid in these videos, just found him interesting and on same topic...Good Luck.

  • I took 50mg of Iodoral for 5.5 months followed by 150mg for 2.5 months in order to decrease my goiter, and it didn't work, both in terms of ultrasound measurements and symptoms. In fact, I felt as if I had a hard time breathing once I upped the dose to 150mg and I would have to look up in order to breathe better.

  • I am getting my thyroid tested also. I have been having similar symptoms as you.

  • @katejohnson086 hope it turns out okay dear

  • well atleast you are taking care of your health, my neice has thyroid hypo as like you i'm here for you

  • @jenniferhenry35 thanks dear

  • I think this is my problem, too. Also, Cortisol from a stressful life.

Good luck to you. You have beautiful face. Don't sweat a little weight, too much. Eat right, sleep right, get exercise you will be fine.

But, stay away from pain killers. My best friend lost her personality to pain killers, one of my acquaintances died in his sleep at 38 years of age. Pain killer overdose.

  • @LoseWeightWithBrandy aye I dont like how my doctor has me on a anti-inflam for pain, which I am not even sure is working

  • Nice to see you again, Colleen. I'm not personally familiar with this condition, but I'd suggest that staying healthy and fit will always lessen the effect of any health problem. I think you're on the right track.

  • Can itching be some form of allergic reaction?

  • keep up the good spirit, continue to go on your weight loss journey. In the end you're going to figure out how to handle the medication and you're going to have a good and healthy life again. A friend of mine did so, after a long period of health difficulties, bad depression a.s.o. the doctors found out that he suffers from Hashimoto-Thyreoiditis. Now with the medication he's doing well.

  • hang in there girlie, you'll figure it out and adapt to this change and you'll get back on track. :)

  • Is your thyroid swollen as well??

  • only since being on sythroid it seems to be itchy and swollen

  • I know what you are going through all too well, being hit with a pretty serious sickness that changed my life after working SO HARD to be as healthy as possible. My doctor found a tumor on my thyroid after I got very, very sick and my life has been turned upside down ever since.

Please don't give up on your health, I did for a couple months, gained 15 lbs and it made me EVEN more miserable. Nothing feels better than taking care of yourself, especially since you need it the most right now.

  • miserable is right, mainly because every KEEPS telling me how much weight I put on... yup to my face

  • Colleen dear, I'm sorry to hear the news. But don't stress over with what you don't know yet. Everybody's body is different and it might be hard to follow some steps but you can do it.

    You are such inspiration.

Life gave you lemons but I know you are strong and smart and you will make more then lemonade.

I wish you the best and stay calm and focused on what you know and who you are. We are here if u need a cheer or just an ear.

    *hugs* Mari

  • just going to start making my videos, trying to start this healthy eating thing all over again...

  • You are a strong person and I believe you'll get through this just fine. Take care of yourself stay healthy and Don't Give Up! (((hugs)))

  • thanks!

  • I'm sorry about that. I hope things get better for you soon. One question: How long before you saw a doctor did you start feeling these symptoms?

  • well over the summer I felt fuzzy headed, sometimes lightheaded and numbless in my limbs. Lack of energy but nothing I really did anything about but then 2 weeks ago it felt like I threw my back out.. but the I was losing feeling in my arms and legs for longer periods of time

  • Give yourself six weeks on the thyroid meds till u start to feel better. I have been with a endocrinologist which is a thyroid specialist. That helps a lot I think. I suffer with migraines and that is very common with thyroid disease. You'll be fine!! Just make sure you get your levels checked and under control and you will be fine! Promise you!

  • thanks dear, going to look into a endocrinologist when I move in a month or so.

  • My grandmother, mother and me all have hypothyroidism. My grandmother turned 100 this year! We've all treated it with synthroid. I've been on synthyroid since for 15 years. Make sure you NEVER take the generic version of your thyroid med. Once you get your thyroid level under control you can get blood tested once a year or more often if you're not feeling well. You can ask me any question if you want :)

  • Worst thing you can do when finding out you have a medical issue is check out the forums & internet sites due tothe fact that you generally get the worst scenarios. I am a nursing student and it's the worst ever when people do that because it gets people paranoid and makes them nervous. Health issues are subjective, it depends on you and your body. You might barely be affected after taking your meds and maybe not. Just a POV of someone who works in a hospital on a regular basis.

  • You are probably right, that was totally what my husband said about the forums. I have been in a funk I need to pull out of it

  • It sucks at first but if you accept it you will adapt to it, this is coming from someone who has colitis and tetralogy of fallot <- which is a congenital heart condition to which i went through double open heart surgery. it's what you make of it. No use dwelling on it, its easier just to accept it and move along with it. you'll notice that you adapt more quickly than you thought

  • So sorry to hear about your health sweetie. I hope soon you will start to feel better. Don't let the stress of it take you any lower. I have diabetes and it's hard at first. Be strong and the road will get easier. (((Hugs) Take care of yourself! My heart hums a happy song for you. Don't be so sad you can get through it. Peace & Love 2ya!

  • there's a woman time2loss and she had been trying to lose weight and wasn't losing and found out she had underactive thyroid and since she's been takng her medicine it's been coming off.......stay encouraged!you are a tough cookie......you will overcome this!

  • Take care of yourself, and def try to keep your spirits up!! You'll get through it. One day at a time. :)

  • You can do it sweeite.. I've had my share of health issues to work thru along my journey too but its well worth it to stick with it. And your conquer this .. At least now u know about it and u can learn how to manage it now. Stay possitive ! Molly

  • I wish I had some advice to give you, but IM not a doctor but I am a friend.. So I will be hear for you, and I will be praying for your health and Im sure you be fine!

  • you will get thru this stuff. fight fight fight.

  • Wow, sorry to hear that, yet it can also be liberating at least to know what lies behind your difficulty. I learned that I have hypothyroidism this past summer (through a blood test), and I am now taking Synthroid (as the missus has for a long time). It's not all that big a deal for me; the meds aren't too expensive, and taking our daily pill is now something the missus and I do together. And better, by far, to know, than not to, and to endure the range of potential problems.

    Take care! =^[.]^=

  • You're going to be just FINE :) It will take a bit to digest it - but you're one of the strongest folks I've met on YouTube and you WILL do it!!

If you'd like to do some reading, let me know and I will share with you everything I have gathered over the past 6 or so months :)

If I can do it, you can too!!! Promise!!!

    --

  • Sorry to hear you have been sick.

    Take good care of yourself.
