  • Thank u for sharing it was beautiful

    And veryyyyyyy sad;(

  • Ah it's Assyrian...I'm Assyrian..we understand it all and speak this way, here hymns like this in church all the time...Assyrian is derived from Aramaic.

  • ARAMIC and NOOOT Assirinan

  • achhh achhh weyyy amin

  • "Marya" is "God" in Assyrian and this is an Assyrian funeral song.

  • i love this hymn it gives me goosebumps!

  • R.I.P 1994-2010

  • (: assyrian for life

  • This is one of my favourite ones. Beautiful recording and voice. I love our ancient melodies, so beautiful. Pity it was recorded at a low volume.

  • Enaanaa, oyat basimta ka da zmarta khleetah. Allah minnakh.

  • this song or hymn is sang on Sunday during Mass only when some one of the Assyrian family has passed away. Funerals have there own songs/hymns for example "Shlammah Um Kho" is sang at a funeral as well as many others and "Shookha L'ow Qallah" is sang on the 3rd day

    Raymond Rasho+ ACOE

  • sounds just amazing!!

is this Syriac? or actually Assyrian/Akkadian?

  • This is Assyrian neo-aramaic!

  • GOD BLESS YOU ALL

    AMEN

  • loove it.... tanx ishlamakh maryaaam yimadeh alahaaaaaaa

  • jesus is our lord and saver, jesus is our king now and for ever,,,,

  • amen

  • My uncle asked friends about it, its a prayer said in funerals.

  • P.S. And "Maria" here does not mean Mary :)

  • What does it mean?

  • a really rough translation it kind of meanh holy

  • Thanks!

  • Our Lord

  • Marya= Jesus

  • Yeshua= Jesus

Marya= Mary, Maryam, Mariam, Maria, Marianna, Mara, Marya, ect.

  • In fact Maria means Lord the God "mar yah" as mar means Lord and Maran "in MARAN ATHA" means our lord.

  • Yes you're right, even bible mentions it "maran ata" wich means "our lord come".

  • @Shachah223 I think you are confusing Hebrew & Christian Aramaic. Aramic (Mar-Yah) = Hebrew (Adonai) & Aramaic(Mar) = Hebrew (Adon) They have a diffrent word fof Mary

  • @IkarOphir

I was really into Arab culture at the time I posted the comment, and their name for Mary is Maryam and Mariam. Plus in Latin langauges "Sea" is Mar, and most people agree Miryam's name "Sea of Bitterness", Mir means "sea". Also in Polish and Russian it's Marya and Mashka ect. I was somewhat confused. Now I know in Hebrew it's Miryam!

  • I was also on a rampage on Marian worship, I had discovered all the root goddessess, and now I'm not! Sorry for the confusion!

  • It is not funny. It is called continuity of an ancient culture going through centuries and millenia.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, Pagan then Christian and both remembered

  • I mean, Christian is very much alive now and pagan culture remembered :)

  • Perfect...

  • can anyone translate please,.wordfor word. ....real tear jerker at funerals

  • omg thank you for posting this god bless you and long live our assyrian community

  • Thank you very much for posting this; your voice is very appropriate for it! :)

Before now all I've heard was Janet Smith's arrangement on the CD "Seven Modes For An Ancient Lyre". Her arrangement (although based on a diatonic mode used in ancient Mesopotamia) is far less ornamental and is organized and harmonized after the Western fashion. You'll hear part of my arrangement of her arrangement (!) on my video response.

Please check out my "rakkav" and especially my "teamim" channels! :)

  • amazing prayers! God bless you for sharing this with us! Please post more

  • wooooooooooooow i love the voice God bless
