Not only is this guy a really good guitarist?? But, the classiest thing about him? Is that he probably got a LOT of crap from people...probably a LOT of NASTY things (you guys know who you are & how vile you can be)...& rather than come out with, "F-YOU! Rant & rave, rant & rave...expletive expletive..." Instead he's completely cool like, "Yeah...I didn't title this...& as far as not knowing blues? I do, but I'm not a purist like you (i.e. - inflexible)."

It doesn't matter if anyone is the greatest because even if it were true, then all that does is make everyone else who's not #1, #2 and below & who cares really. He's a great guitarist regardless of how much better someone else may or may not be. Why can't we all just like the level everyone's at due to all the hours of practice they put in that got them there & appreciate what matters.

Bottom line is -- there are WAY more bad listeners in the world than there are musicians, period.

I notice a Macbook Pro and a Cinema Display but cant see if your using a real amp or one of those plug ins like Waves Gtr or something...So that would be nice to find out what you use and how you get your tone from the amp...Cheers.

in regards to what amp.. at around 6 minutes or so you can see there is a Line6 POD on the floor with what appears to be an original longerboard footpedal..

ok i wanna touch on the subject that you dont wanna play night clubs because you got to know the lord how dose that keep you out of clubs i understand that clubs in general are dens of sin so to speak but i approach it like this when i play in the clubs i dont drink and i try to be a light for those people to see what god can do and when a drunk asks me about my playing i always tell them it is a gift from god and just maybe i can help people in bars find god through my playing

To think that being religious automatically makes you a great person, or that non-religious people are automatically bad people, is a very elitistic and judgemental way of viewing people. hi john, when your cd came out, probably you would consider providing/selling the backing tracks of your cd as well separately, so that people can try to play along(i noticed that some artists already doing this - like steffen schackinger of candyrat and some others). and maybe followed by youtube lesson videos of maybe couple of licks from there. or instructional dvd. your phrasing is to die for! im sure that some ppl would love to pay for those just to get a lil closer to your amazing playing.

I have had the honor of jamming with John a few times. I see it, I hear it, but I still can't believe it. He can memorize an entire song in seconds and be playing chords on top of chords for embellishment and then out of thin air, he pulls these licks, tricks, riffs, arps and runs and connects them with a logical beautiful melody that FITS the progression. His memorization ability is second only to his creativity. Maybe one day he'll post some chord melody stuff and some cover leads.
