I know what the swimming reference is. In the 1960s they had shows on the Board Walk. One of those shows was a woman who use to ride a horse up to a high platform, and then she and the horse dove into a swimming pool below them! I have never forgotten this show. I don't know how the horse would jump off this platform every night!
if anyone has ever seen singin in the rain, Polly sounds like Jean Hagen in with the high voice, not on everything she says, but there are some similiarities..lol
Thanks for the timeline Fred. Two years before "Cape Fear". Ms. Bergen was a friend of my mom, and took out an ad in my Eighth Grade Year book back in 1962! LOL!

Check out Dorothy Kilgallen's question at :55: "Have I spoken to you over a long-distance telephone within the past week?" More cryptic, ambiguous and often bizarre questions would come from her over the next several years, mostly when she was "under the influence."
The always beautiful Miss Polly Bergen...She seems like a real nice person with a great sense of humor.

Wow. This was the glory days of heterosexuality, and she was a big business success besides. What a woman.

( 0:33 ) Men always make passes at Bergens in glasses.
Both Bennett Cerf and Tom Poston are highly amusing even when ( 2:26 3:04 ) they are both lost in space. Ed Sullivan? Jackie Gleason? Taxi!
Some mystery guests wanted to be found: Bergen apparently among them ( 5:12 ).
