we need more movies with music like this. It has gotten to the point where I can't watch a preview without rolling my eyes because it just the same recycled garbage and generic themes that don't make us question anything or think about anything. We need movies to be unique again, bring something to the table, and if its controversial, then I have another word for it: progress.

@Ninjistic Operative word being "Generic" as in can't be bothered!

It's either metal or techno, even to the point now where Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard have been mixing classical with metal and techno for the past half a decade and more just to appeal to wider audiences and to keep getting work. Its actually generic pop music that's being used in film more than traditional classical music, hence the start of the cross-over period in the 80's fronted by Jerry Goldsmith!

Thanks @LuffyBlack classical music such as this is one of few artforms of the soul still alive. I like metal but it turns perfectly good films into mainstream sports coverage to interest no brainers!

An amazing piece of music. Battle Royale is by far one of my favourite films but I would not have shed a tear in either 1 or 2 if it weren't for the music. What do we get in Western contemporary sci-fi and action film? Heavy Metal soundtracks...

@DRAshley1980 Most films actually use generic classical/orchestral scores, I don't see heavy metal being used that much.. The OST in this film is very beautiful though.
