  • Damn this court has low bounce.

  • @KoopasFTW the way a true grass court should be

  • that short angled forehand (tomic) is really messed up!

    how does he hit that?!

  • 9:03 I GIV U 1 SET SO NO EMBARASSMENT Y U NO LUV ME?

  • GO TOMIC

  • Anyone else checking this out before watching Fed and Tomic in 10 minutes at the Australian Open? I'm tempted to take Tomic with +7 games (betting ATS)

  • is there and what is the difference between an inside out forehand and an off forehand...

  • Lol funny 8:36 to 8:38

    Tomic '' ahhhhhhh''

    Federer '' eeeehhhhhhhhhh"

  • Despite the error from Tomic, this will be the rythm of the match.

    This minutes : 7:12 to 7:28

  • Tomic has a such an ugly forehand! damn

  • i just watch his matches to see his girlfriend.

  • good tomic but federer best from his

  • Hmm, where can i see the Australian perspective of this match?

  • @McMeevin Is this supposed to be a joke. The highlights are balanced according to how many points both players won and the memorable points there were in the match. If you want a one eyed Aussie perspective then check out my highlights of him against Djokovic at Wimbledon.

  • @FederersL1ama Excellent comeback! Some people simply don't understand what ''highlights'' actually means. Great videos by the way!

  • Tomic has a weird 2 hander...I like his slice a lot better actually.

  • Is it just me or is Tomic forehand wierd???

  • this is how a grass court supposed to play, not like that green clay they call wimbledon nowadays. By the way, it is impossible to beat federer slice vs. slice, he has the precision of a watchmaker for smurfs.

  • this court is quite much faster than wimbledon i think

  • Man Fed is extremely good! :)

  • Young Tomic could bother Djokovic with his backhand slices in the middle of the court, at Wimbledon, but he shouldn't enter into slice-to-slice exchange with Roger. Rogers slices are sick and make a lot of problems to tall players, like Tomic (and so as Delpo, Karlovic, Isner, Cilic..). Anyways, very nice performance from this young guy.

  • Oh come on that grass that makes not bounce the ball must be a pain....

Look at federer slicing every ball...

  • @AkMachx Real grass :o wish they had it at Wimbledon like this. Would certainly be interesting.. Not sure how players like Nadal and Djokovic would handle this though for 7 x matches straight, especially against big servers.

  • @AllGenreMusic That's why I prefer Wimbledon grass.

It is faster than clay obviously but not unplayable.......

  • Why the fuck is everyone always talking about and analyzing Federer, hes great but everything that could be said about him has been said, I came to see a new talent!!!!

  • In my opinion, despite being a loss, this is a match which clearly displays Tomic's huge potential - I have written a brief piece around it at my blog (Tennis Niche) for those who are interested

  • @nalbandian313 you kidding me? that kid is 19! of course he has potential. saying otherwise is just plain foolish. i mean...so young, yet he puts up a true challenge to the very best....

  • Wasn't the ball at 6:11 out?

  • Thanks for this video!

  • Tomic needs a lot of work, some times during he match when he's a break up he looks lost, the best players will snuff this out to their advantage.

  • more than the pace..see how low is the bounce...mass.....grass court....

  • Whoa. A real grass court in 2011. They said it couldn't be done. Put this thing on tour.

  • @TheGreatEllipsis agreed !!!

  • This really is refreshing seeing a fast court. Its disgusting what they've done to courts these days, even wimbledon is slow..

  • @93RastafarianPikachu my thoughts exactly !!! takes the variety out of the game

  • i was at this match... you know watching live they dont actually go for that much as it appears on tv. but it was amazing how much of a difference you notice between federer and the rest of the players. straight away from the first ball strike compared to wawrinka you could just see the difference. even hewitt on grass looked far better than the others

  • federer played a great game, as did tomic.

  • Very low bouncing and very fast. This is what grass courts should be like.

  • No doubt this is faster than Wimbledon.

  • Federer vs Nadal .. in this fast grass .. the clay chicken cant win a single game !!

  • well this is faster than wimbledon... and its nice

  • Love some fast grass!

  • nadal would be eaten alive on fast grass.

  • @anaihilator no he would of won

  • @Sen1Sky No.

  • @3timeMVPNash yes

  • @addy72222 yes this was the next weekend right after the us open...

  • HD?

  • @Dee4096 Hi, it's really a pleasure to meet you.

  • @FederersL1ama

any chance of seeing a Federer-Hewitt Davis Cup 2011 highlight?

  • @FederersL1ama No, it's a pleasure to meet your HD.

  • Merci

  • @FederersL1ama This was post-US Open right?

  • I like Tomic. I am Novak fan but I think he has the game to beat Novak, not now but few years down the road. He likes to slice a lot and his forehand balls are very low, novak hates that. It could become great rivalry 2 years from now.

  • what happened in the organizzation head? Due federer on grass is something like suicides!

  • a bit of tennis will die when federer retires

  • I very love federer

  • Playing Federer on grass... Not much hope

  • I hate all these Federer nazi's... I don't understand what all the hype is about this guy. I mean yeah hes got awesome game, yeah his strokes are the most graceful you'll ever witness, yes hes the most elegant player out there... god dam it FINE federer is awesome... truly an inspiration.

  • @casualkid66 The comment is GENIUS!

    'Sshh! Quiet! Genius at work!'

  • @ciaranselva I can only assume this is another tennis fan who started following in about 2009 and doesn't actually know the players. Never in doubt, mind.

  • @ciaranselva lol. Roger Federer the 1st place of a favorite player whom a tennis fan chooses. 9-year continuation. also has record of the sportsmanship prize which an ATP player chooses, 7 times. Records. Nadal or Djokovic etc perform ugly gamesmanship always. Fake time-out. too noisy annoying. excuse injury. advertisement of always annoying exaggerated of self condition. Retire for likely to lose. etc. Ego selfish, sucks two-year-ranking. overrated by arrogant fans always. asshole

  • tomic has a funky looking forward but it works

  • Best points 4:47 - 5:00

  • 8:12 was that federer?

  • @acdp61 Yeh, he shouted 'Allez!'

  • "time to put the kettle on we are going to 4." haha guess you gotta understand Australian culture to get that

  • federer does not look like hes lost a step physically. i think its all mental with him from here on out

  • @rohitennis7 Just, no. Au revoir.

  • @FederersL1ama ok let me rephrase. i don't think he has lost as HUGE a step as everyone thinks. just watching how fast he still transitions to the net and runs down balls is evidence . in all of his significant losses this year, i think he checked out mentally (wimbledon QFs, us open 3rd 4th set). before he cud rely on his raw talent to get thru matches, but now he needs to be able to grit out tough matches against younger opponents.

  • @rohitennis7 Yeh but when you are no. 3/4 in the world it goes without saying that he's clearly not a mug and a useless tennis player. He's still freaking good, but no doubt he's lost a step He's lost his passes somewhat, he appears to have lost a little bit of stamina, and he can't hug the baseline and explode left, right as he used to -- he now has to anticipate earlier and as such gets wrong-footed more regularly. Mentally, he certainly also isn't at his old levels, as I doubt no Peakerer...

  • @FederersL1ama ... is going to be giving up 2 match points on his own serve in a US Open semi and losing twice in one year in Slams from 2 sets to 0 up. =D

  • @FederersL1ama well said, ur definitely right about the anticipation factor. but look at 3:34 kinda reminds you of the good old days, huh? and i think his two match points at the open were just bad luck, djokovic is having a hell of a season, but he slapped on lucky return and a would-be winner of fed's clipped the tape

  • @FederersL1ama he def tanked the wimbledon and us open matches when 2 sets to love up. just study his demeanor at the BEGINNIG of the third sets of BOTH of those matches.

  • @rohitennis7 I agree. I think he has the physical side. However he has to work on his mental is longer matches.

  • this grass court is definitely faster, than wimbledon..

  • watching tomic play is like watching someone strangle a puppy.

    wth is wrong with tomic

  • wait so australia is allowed to pick the surface of this, and they pick fed's best surface...

  • @TsunetaroMoriyama Kinda makes sense. Tomic's best surface is grass and Waw ain't so hot on it, and also Hewitt's last victory over Federer came on grass at Halle in 2010.

  • @TsunetaroMoriyama well think about it. what other surface would you choose? fed is a gun on hardcourt, probably third best player on clay atm. hewitts best results come on grass and tomic had his best results at wimbledon.... i dont think they were expecting to beat federer but the rest of the swiss team they felt they had a far better chance on grass than any other surface

  • Got to see this live! my two favourtie players... i feel so priveleged :D

  • Tomic is lazy!

  • Why does it appear that the ball leaves a streak?

  • @slerk9 Ghosting artifacts and interlacing issues, probably: had to convert this 60fps footage to 30fps as youtube responds very badly to 60.

  • why does he use the slice so much?

  • @TheYu87 It's just his style of play. He has a very attacking game in general, so when he is on the offence he takes the ball very early and paints the lines, and when he is on a defence he uses slice a lot. Here in particular courts are very fast and balls bounce very low, so as you can probably tell there is just not enough time to get under the ball, especially with a one handed backhand. Therefore Rog hits a slice, to put the ball deeper into opponents baseline, and than explode on the fhnd

  • i had not seen this match so the highlights are appreciated. i havent bothered to watch any live tennis since us open as rogers been resting, so roll on basel :) hopefully hes playing the monday so i can sit with the lights out, ignoring trick or treaters and stuffing my face with sweets :D

  • Someone got mad at 8:54

  • Comment removed

  • Tomic is going to be a good one.

  • The ball bounce on these grass courts....omfg lol.

  • "time to put the kettle on, we're going to four" ...... really?

  • Great highlight. Where did you download the whole match ?

  • Bernard TOMIC has some great skills. He will be top 10 in the future.

  • tomic is soo good for being so young, is he not only 19? Federer will always be the greatest and my faveourite but this guy is going places.

  • when was this?

  • @N00BisHemmy

Few days after US Open Final.

  • Comment removed

  • Great highlights, do you have the match against Hewitt, can't find any proper highlights of that match anywhere

  • @TJFederer15

Sorry, but I don't have the match. I might be able to obtain it though... I'll let you know.

  • After Federer retires, you guys can go nuts on the endless two-handed backhand exchanges between Nadal and Djokovic.

It's a safe shot for today's game but it's just not pretty.

  • It's going to be such a shame when Federer retires...I would imagine the tennis watching community will be reduced to about 50%-60% of what it is now. I know I'll lose interest for sure. Watching Nadal & Djoko wear eachother out is entertaining but nowhere near as captivating as watching the GOAT play from a technical point of view.

  • @jdub81sbm yeah, I can't see a world of tennis without Roger.

  • only people that hate tomic's strokes are those with 0 touch and can only mindlessly smack balls and getting shit on court.

  • @nhat8121 i'm an exception then. i have about a "2" of touch, and smack balls, but do it with intentions. i do get shit in the court. but i still hate tomic's strokes lol

  • Wow thank you so so so much 4 this upload.incredibly unexpected but i really appreciate it man. Thanks so much!!!!!!

  • hate watching tomic play...ugliest strokes out of top 100 pros and an even uglier pusher game. guess it's hard to dictate points with a jacked up form like his

  • @yellowblueskyfly Anyone Federer plays against looks like they have ugly strokes.

  • @jdub81sbm no tomic just has one of the ugliest strokes ever. did you see that one point where he's about to hit a forehand and because he holds it so weird w/o changing the grip he did a drop shot... and also the last shot to take the set, he hit a forehand but eveyrtime he hits it it doesnt seem to be clean so it was a winner on fed because it dropped so short and didnt bounce...

  • @tennisproderek all those shots you described were intentional not a lack of technical skills but rahter just Tomic's unorthodox style.

  • @yellowblueskyfly Then don't watch him. He could beat you with his eyes closed, so don't criticize.

  • @Hotsoup4ever lol...you are not making any sense. It's true, Federer makes tennis look so graceful and easy. That's why he's won so many tennis fans, including those who had never previously watched tennis. He makes you want to go out on the court and copy him.

  • @Hotsoup4ever

    1. you're right i wasnt watching tomic, i was watching federer.

    2. no he can't beat me with his eyes closed thats nonsense.

    3. you're right i was criticizing..but i can say wtvr i want so mind your own business

  • @yellowblueskyfly Who are you to critizice a top 50 player? If his style of play gets him wins then what's the problem? Obviously Federer has better strokes, he's the greatest of all time. But to say Tomic has ugly strokes is absurd.

  • @Hotsoup4ever

I don't think it's absurd. It's paradoxical, I find his strokes a bit ugly quite often but it is what gives him his overall variety and funky game style which I like A LOT.

I hope Tomic can make it big time!

  • @Hotsoup4ever im having so much fun with you hotsoup...here are my replies =)

    1. i am yellowblueskyfly to criticize a top 50 player

    2. the problem is that his strokes are ugly

    3. i dont think its absurd to say tomic has ugly strokes. they are ugly.

  • @yellowblueskyfly Does it matter if they're ugly? Does that make him any worse of a player. The point is that IT WORKS.

  • @Hotsoup4ever

    1. it does matter if they're ugly. cuz they're ugly; it's unpleasant to the sight.

    2. i never said anything about whether or not it makes him worse. it does dictate his style of play however

    3. you're right. the ugly strokes do work. but they're still ugly

    4. so youve admitted they're ugly?

  • @yellowblueskyfly They look ugly compared to Federer's. I wasn't aware that it was Tomic's priority to make you happy. I really don't understand why we're arguing over thing.

  • @Hotsoup4ever

    1. yes they do look ugly compared to roger's. congratulations you got that right

    2. i never said it's tomic's priority to make me happy

    3. i love this argument

    4. so it's not so absurd anymore to say tomic has ugly strokes eh? loll
