15 cm seemed like a tall (or rather wide) order to me - and in the process of getting all the clay up from the bottom I seem to end up with little dents right in the middle of the bowl. Very annoying...
Is there something I can do to help prevent this from happening, and if my concentration slips again, is there a remedy that wont make the base too thin?
Simon, what is the approximate height of those bowls? I have trouble making a bowl of that shape out of 500 grams, never mind 450 grams. As an excersise, last week I threw a dozen as fast as I could to a gauge and had 6 or 7 that were decent. The others were junk.
width is 15cm ,height is 'eyeballed' according to shape,ie so the proportions look rightg . SL - just keep practicing & I dont mean just do a dozen , but a dozen x a dozen . SL
I've just had 100 hours behind me over two years of taking courses. It's been with a lot of ups and downs but it's sooooooooo great.I've still got so much to learn and to stay relaxed and focused!! But someone saw some stuff of my throwing and orded 80 cups! Wow! I'm learning and practicing like hell now to try to make them a bit the same, so Simon thanks for all your video's!
Glad you are back in the studio! I missed your throwing videos! Baby is now 10 weeks old and I have been back at the wheel whenever I can in the past few weeks! Gearing up for the holiday season since I will be away from the wheel most of September!
Thanks for the refresher. It seems sometimes when we get away from the basics we tend to install our own shortcuts and then our pots start to look strange!!!
Glad your back Simon, I am new to throwing and your videos have been very inspiring! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, it is a very generous gift, thank you, thank you!

Yeah Simon I know what you mean by getting your tools when you sit down. Unfortunately sometimes it's the 4th or 5th time I sit down :)
