The funny thing about herbs is that those that are provably effective are turned into medicine.
Herbal products suffer from a lack of control, since they are grown in the wild there is no way to control for their active ingredients.... to take aspirin as an example, a tea made from willow bark contains the same chemical used in aspirin... but the concentration is unknown. A pill has a known quantity of the active component.
