@BrownDarter thanks! these guys are puppy dogs, I have only been tagged once, and that was at the second feeding after brumation. Have any vid of your corns? Send a link!
@mtolypetsupply My BF and I are in the process of building a bigger cage for the corn with climbing shelves, etc. Here in Miami heating isn't an issue so I hope it comes out well lol than will post a vid. We got her from Kathy Love . The hondos are stunning love yours. I have always been afraid of them but must say nothing beats their colors . Adult hondos unlike many snakes hold their colors great which is a big plus.
I'd have to say that it is usually not done because they are being "mean". I'd try holding with more support, it may feel as if it is not secure and is holding on for dear life.
If it bites and wraps, I've heard that the way to get them off is to start the shower, when the water gets too hot, they'll let go to get away from it.
If it's a smaller snake, you could probably just start unwrapping it, tail first.
That's why I like working with the little snakes, not much danger there. :)
And I know snakes can't hear, but my 1.5 year old daughter can! It was her naptime, my ONLY peace and solace. I thought that her screaming would be way more annoying than me whispering. :)
As I believe I said in the vid, they evacuated during shipping. They were covered in their urates and feces. I chose to wipe them down with a paper towel as it is disposable. If the new snakes had any parasites or diseases, the paper towel was instantly out of the house, unable to infect our collection, rather than a washable rag that perhaps could have retained some of an infectious substance or eggs even after washing.
yes, we turned the bathroom into a quarantine room. We're just starting out, so perhaps I don't know, but is there a problem with using a bathroom as a quarantine room? If so, please let me know so we don't make the same mistake again. I thought it was a great choice with the tile being a non-porous surface, hence nowhere for bacteria, virus, or fungus to reside, and no furnishings in which mites could hide and reproduce.
On these, I am trusting Reed. Some people with a good eye can tell by looking at the shape of the tail. another way to determine sex is by probing, inserting a snake probe in the cloaca, and how far in it goes will usually correctly determine the sex. Although probing is more accurate, it too can be incorrect, and can damage the snake. When snakes are babies, sometimes you can press on the tail, and get the male's genitals to pop out.
What's the web site you got him or her of of
