I'm glad he is bringing awareness to literring, but MY problem is with other people and this video.
Am I supposed to be feeling sad for some dumb birds who put shit in their mouth? I'm sorry, Bad Parenting on the birds part. "BUT THEY'RE JUST ANIMALS THEY DONT KNOW ANY BETTER!" I'm sorry but when a parent bird isn't KILLING the food itself (Worms etc) and feeding their baby birds non-tasty plastic and metal...I don't feel sorry for them...
Well....awesome video. We need to make it easier to collect, organize, and recycle materials. We also need to stop arresting and putting people into prison who grow plants far safer than legal drugs such as alcohol and others. These are just 2 of many things our societies need to focus on....or else apathy and impending doom will occurr...
Instead of feeling all the *emotions*, how about we work to solutions to this epidemic we are facing. Be grateful that humans are intelligent enough to recognize this problem, so it can be fixed.

but it's not even about vowing to litter again, he's bringing this forth to everyone in hopes human stupidity could, for a moment(i hope forever), could stop being so ignorant to Mother Nature and pick up trash and plastic.
Plastic breaks down smaller and smaller, it is NOT bio-degradable, thats why its an issue. And for those trolls saying animals are stupid, didn't you ever notice how stupid humans are for littering? lol didn't think so dipshits
@Odin7thor How can you watch this video and then go on to complain that you have to do 3 or 4 clicks to find the comment the top comment is replied to... Just another example of how too many people are thinking "Oh, what a shame.." and just keep on only concerning and whining about their first world problems.
@PolarBearProd don't make me laugh with your shit, how ridiculous this is to answer a 5-line to a total stranger who was making an observation rather than a real complaint, you should learn to ignore a little what others say rather than giving it too much importance. Maybe here it was not that relevant but when it's on a video that has thousands of comments, you're not gonna watch all pages of comments til you find the original comment that got a response
the garbage patch in the ocean all floats from currents and gets stuck in a huge pile out there bigger than the state of Texas.....we need to find alternate ways, hopefully some sort of space program to launch it, or burn it safely, than start to filter out parts of the ocean and cleaning up the waters.....we need to take better care of our planet
"We opened a ziplock bag..." really? You are photographing plastics being picked up by birds in the Pacific and exposing plastic waste, while using more plastic....
@quinnweller Plastic degrades, but PLASTIC NEVER BIOdegrades. Read up on the envinronmental disastor broken down but non-biodegraded plastic is already causing.
Also there are different kinds of plastic, what you are saying is simply not true.
@quinnweller If every type of plastic dissolves (what? Plastic don't turn to liquid) after a month of exposure to UV radiation then we couldn't use plastic anywhere in the world. No cars, no cell-phones, no computers, keyboards etc. You know why? because the earth gets hit my UV rays all the time.
Do you change out everything plastic after a month?
@bamsebomsen It gets activated when it gets combined with saltwater, and i'm talking a MONTH straight in the sun and then the plastic becomes extremely brittle. This is only plastic that gets thrown away often i.e. six-pack wrappers, soda bottles.
@quinnweller The word you are looking for is photodegradable, but How many 6 pack rings are exposed to the light for a month straight? Not many I bet. Most are buried or at the bottom of the sea long before a month is up, so really photodegradable is only useful for things dumped on the ground. You also need to check your facts on soda bottles. These are made from PETE and are NOT photodegradable. They are often recycled into clothes, I guess you wouldn't want your clothes to degrade in the sun?
@Wilson1592 WOW. go fuck yourself. We have an einstein here everybody. Let's just tell the birds to stop eating plastic, since you know, it's all their fault, eh?
@Paultheamazingscuba Lol..... i dont think you understand how these birds are eating this plastic, their eating the plastic off the trash barges that all of our trash goes to...
@zzirLUKE Atleast What do you expect him to do. What a stupid thing to say. I would gladly use a little bit of plastic to make photos to get the word out that animals are dying because of garbage. It's better than just using a toothbrush for yourself and throwing it out. At least he's using it to help the world and not himself. Stop being so judgemental and do something about your own problems instead of pointing the finger at a different party. Honestly how disgraceful can you get.

sure this is a horrible consequence to human waste yada yada, and we all feel inspired but won't do anything etc. But just think of all the bigger problems we all face on this planet just because humans try to 'improve' their own living conditions when some of the happiest people in the world live in freaking straw huts for denny's sake.
It is great that Chris Jordan using his art to evoke positive responses to the plight of albatrosses on Midway Island and their ingestion of plastic from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Why are we making the decisions that we are making, and what is so wrong about being better to the environment and, ultimately, ourselves?
Chris Jordan might as well wear a shirt with a big "S" on it!!! I know he is so humble and does not want to be painted as a super-hero.... but, it is people like him that need to lead a nation!!!
We must support him by putting our ego aside and focus on HOW WE may bring about change..... change our family.... our neighbor.... our co-worker....!!
Speaking of education, it's time we digitize our books! Despite the advent of computers, we actually use more than twice as many paper products today than we did two decades ago!
This is heartbreaking, and it is only one of the many problems caused by 'modern living'. People are so used to pollution, litter and 'not so cheap' nasty modern materials like plastic that they cannot see the harm they are doing. So this is progress ?
This is horrible! how can people do this, i felt a litle better when i realized that im not a part of this problem but then i remeber that i live next to the most poluted oceans in the world (the baltic sea).
What are we as small people supposed to do about this? When we vote for green parties our economy perishes because of high costs:displacement. Give money to greenpeace and the likes that spend almost everything on their own organisational costs? Live like a monk yourself while everyone else still acts like all is well and become a social paria? I have little hope for us, all we can do is count on science and quit spending energy on designing a new iphone or something rediculously stupid.
Despair is all you can have when seeing this, what does he expect us to do? Feel miserable about it until we die? Never buy another piece of plastic again? The entire earth is completely fucked because of greed and money not one sane businessman is going to make less profit because of nature unless he gets some publicity. You can't live in a normal way if you think of all the bad things, I mean we flush our shit with drinkable water while some ppl have to walk an hour to get two bottles.
this is a pathetically sad [but important to see] snapshot of how the hell we have created far more irreversible damage on this planet in such a short time, than we have thousands of years before our generations. we'll not learn until it's too late and late is shortly on its way. THINK PEOPLE...THINK!
@LittleTacoBaby NO I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE HOLOCAUST!!! LOL!!!! WUT IS DAT!!! OMG IM 2 STOOPID 2 NO WUT DA HOLOCAUST IS!! ENLIGHTEN ME TACO BABY!!! ENLIGHTEN ME WITH YOUR TACOS!!!
@TheThenewyear You don't really. I bet you do tons of stuff to make you or other people happy. I bet you don't really hate yourself and those you love. You don't need to hate humans to regret this, or be appalled by it.
@TheThenewyear Oh really? THIS is the worst thing you've ever heard of? Not widespread famine in Africa, or children that are being sold into sexual slavery? Not war profiteers who make fortunes off of bloody money? Some stupid fucking birds that eat plastic is the worst thing you've ever heard? You sheltered cunt. Fuck off with your faggotry.
@Garuda1337 HAHAHHA wow... i love how "africa" is the only country you can think of that deals with famine. and i'm sheltered? obviously I've heard of worse things, its just an expression. chill out bro.. you're getting so worked up over one little comment some stranger on youtube made. your life is sad.
@TheThenewyear Mad bro? Mad because you just now realize what a douche-nugget you are? Fucking hippy prick. You bleeding heart pansies are all activists when it comes to typing shit up on a keyboard but I can guarantee your activism doesn't go beyond that.
@Garuda1337 well actually, i went on a trip with hero holiday last summer and spent 14 days building two homes, a school and a basketball court for those less fortunate than ourselves. i've run a book drive for a children's hospital and i've volunteered at countless events to raise money for charity. you're being a little hypocritical about typing and saying things you don't know about. and "douche-nugget"? hhahahah what are you? 4?
I'm glad he is bringing awareness to literring, but MY problem is with other people and this video.

Plastic horror needs to stop at its source, and to a lesser extent by removal. the 2 negs were probably "dont like plastic"
1. Source reduction--just don't buy plastic. Some engineer needs invent quickly degradable plastics that turn into molecules that are not harmful.
2. How are those items getting into the pacific gyre? Thru the gutter/sewer? Need to quantify the flow.
3. OK, farfetched: nuclear aircraft carrier factory redeployed to suck up the gyre and turn into plastic feedstock.

this is a pathetically sad [but important to see] snapshot of how the hell we have created far more irreversible damage on this planet in such a short time, than we have thousands of years before our generations. we'll not learn until it's too late and late is shortly on its way. THINK PEOPLE...THINK!

Garuda1337 1 month ago
@Garuda1337 HAHAHHA wow... i love how "africa" is the only country you can think of that deals with famine. and i'm sheltered? obviously I've heard of worse things, its just an expression. chill out bro.. you're getting so worked up over one little comment some stranger on youtube made. your life is sad.
TheThenewyear 1 month ago
@TheThenewyear Mad bro? Mad because you just now realize what a douche-nugget you are? Fucking hippy prick. You bleeding heart pansies are all activists when it comes to typing shit up on a keyboard but I can guarantee your activism doesn't go beyond that.
Garuda1337 1 month ago
@Garuda1337 well actually, i went on a trip with hero holiday last summer and spent 14 days building two homes, a school and a basketball court for those less fortunate than ourselves. i've run a book drive for a children's hospital and i've volunteered at countless events to raise money for charity. you're being a little hypocritical about typing and saying things you don't know about. and "douche-nugget"? hhahahah what are you? 4?
