  • It looks really good & it's pretty too!!

    Pam

  • Looking like a great combination, but I agree with you, it looks heavy on the chili powder. There are some great Cajun "Blackened Seasonings" pre-made, that I play with, "Slap Ya Mama" being an upcoming fave. You shouldn't taste the chili powder, you should just "notice" the twang in the blend of spices.

A variant you thought of, that I'd pursue: brown the chicken, but don't fully cook it. Let it finish at a slow simmer in the sauce for maybe 10 minutes, so they get to know each other.

  • Label reading on "Cajun's Choice," a really snappy Louisiana blackened seasoning I use, it sez "All natural spices (including paprika, red, black, white peppers, oregano), salt, onion, and garlic. No MSG."

(I'd sprinkle on a waft of MSG, just out of spite...)

  • Your videos always make me hungry. I love them so much you always have the best recipes.

    Thank you.

  • Are black beans what i call red kidney beans?

    or are they something else

    sorry for being a doofus!

    :-)

  • @twish1999 Those are two different beans :) I have to say I enjoy both, but black beans more. (You aren't a doofus)

  • @silverscreamgrl

I'm driving my local shops mad by requesting all the stuff i see people use in America!

Won't be long before they ban me from shopping there!!

  • I think I'll try making this, tend to eat a lot of chicken. Easy peasy, my kind of recipe :)

  • @ArgentineShamrock Try googling blackened chicken recipe. I found some that seemed like it would be MUCH better than chili powder. I knew I shouldn't have trusted Taste of Home. I am letting my subscription expire because the recipes are pretty much crap every time. The recipes I found online gave yummy spices like paprika, cumin, thyme, onion powder, etc. I think those flavors would be much nicer!

  • It looks very tasty! Hugs Beth!

  • @imperceptibleme Thanks girlie :)

  • looks delish!!!!!!!

  • @H3ADY1313 It was good but wish I had googled blackened chicken and gotten better recipes ;)

  • This looks fabulous! I might make it for Sunday dinner this week. I already have all the ingredients and it's so easy!. I'm a new subscriber and am _loving_ the cooking videos!! Thanks so much! xxMeg

  • @1DRock37167 I can't believe you are talking about my breasteses!!! yo. lol

The rice was added later :))) That was just my money shot then I messed it all up by slopping my rice down ;)

  • OMG that looks sooooo good! I love black beans, corn and salsa in about anything! I had soup made with that once, maybe a taco soup, and that was absolutely delicious! Such a pretty dish too!

  • @wildheart5 I am going to use that as a side dish more often, the corn, salsa, black beans. It was a REALLY nice blending of yummy.

  • I'm with Tammy about the colors - it is a beautiful dish. I'm not so big a fan of a lot of chili either, so would replace some of it with seasoning salt and some other spices. I love the idea of mixing corn with the black beans and salsa - yum.

  • @thizizliz Yeah, it was a pretty dish, for sure! Try googling blackened chicken recipe. I found some that seemed like it would be MUCH better than chili powder. • @CookingAndCrafting Those certainly do sound better. Thanks! :)

  • The colours in this are so great! I would feel the need to put this over rice for some reason. I've seen blackened chicken on restaurant menus but have never tried it.

I wonder if all blackened chicken is spiced with chili? hmm

  • @yoyomax12 I put it on rice, but just took the money shot as is.

  • @BryanAndBaileysZen d you like sea food? I never see you cooks fish or shrimps. Now maybe at a barBQ I may had seens some shrimps I dont remember.

  • @BryanAndBaileysZen Nope, I am not a fan of the seafood. If I do eat fish (not very often), it is local fish (aku, ahi, mahimahi) and I just like it fried (or baked if mahimahi) with nothing else done to it. Just Hawaiian salt. Then I eat poi with it :)

  • Looks great girl. Always fun to try new things.
