Undertaker was so cool when he first came on the scene. Before the short hair, before the biker gimmick. So great. WCW dropped the ball on him sooo badly.
Cena has more in ring ability than Warrior ever had. Whenever someone asks who the worst in ring technician was, legends always say Warrior without hesitation.
Actually the two did feud between WM and Summerslam in 1991. It was voted Feud of the Year in Pro Wrestling Illustrated. It just never quite had a good blowoff match.
@Cabbageboy316 Yeah, that's what I meant pretty much. After the 1991 payment issues he was fired again and never had that feud with Jake the Snake as planned. Loved the 3 videos Jake had of training the Warrior only to betray him in the end. Had Warrior not been fired he could have been a more established legend.
Warrior was horrible at squash matches but if he was with someone who could carry a good match you could do worse...I would argue that he had 3 pretty good WM matches in a row - Rude, Hogan, Savage.
Warrior was in fastatic shape, probably one of the best physiques in WWE history. He just needed someone to help him with his in ring skills. A dream match would be Warrior in his prime and Batista in his prime. Or Warrior in his prime versus Goldberg in his prime. But Warrior is old, Goldberg is old, and Batista is past his prime. Oh well.
well thats the thing unlike warrior or hogan Macho man could easily carry a match and make his opponent look good as well as himself. He should have held the title belt more often
WWF should have had macho man win, that would have been a historical shocker for many years. because macho man came back later in 1991 and warrior got fired in august at summerslam. so they should have had macho man win with the undertakers help. then warrior could have returned 1 yr later at WRESTLEMANIA 8 and attack macho man and undertaker
i didnt start watching wwf until right after wrestlemania 7. so i missed this contract signing. seems kind of weird that they would have undertaker come out before mania: sure it seemed like undertaker might interfer in their retirement match at mania7 and help macho man win. but it also shows that warrior vs undertaker was the next feud after this one, so it makes it so predictable that warrior would win, and he did
Look at that idiot Warrior at the 2:50 mark... He enters the ring and pushes the people around... he pushes one guy backwards who bumps into the lady in the ring... that looked pretty real - no kayfabe there - notice the women moves to the other side of the ring... Looks like a bit of Roid Rage there for sure... total disrespect for others... like Warrior couldn't get over his character without pushing innocent non-wrester bystanders around... what a jerk!
lol not gonna disagree, but i wanna think that that was the point to the ultimate warrior. he wanted u to believe that he was so nuts that it was almost like watching the incredible hulk come to life -- if ur a marvel fan. thats y no one seemed to care who he attacked as long as it wasn't hogan.
i wanna think the promos and the lack of skills were the point to the character as well, not that i think about it.
I remember seeing information on a site that spoke of this contract signing, but i never actually believed that the Undertaker did make an appearance. Before seeing it, I thought it was done on the brother love show BEFORE Paul Barer came on the scene.
I wonder if initially they were planning on having Undertaker interfere in the match, then scrapped it later on. Did Warrior and Undertaker have a feud after WM VII, before Warrior was fired at Summerslam?
They had a feud, look here at youtube for matches, I´ve seen two. Their feud won the feud of the year 1991 - award. It´s just sad that the bookers made a good vs bad story out of it because the good guy always wins. The Undertaker is one of few Wrestlers who could beat the warrior one on one.
Yeah, the feud didn't last too long. It actually lead to the Warrior vs. Jake The Snake Feud. The storyline was Jake had the "hidden secrets" of the dark side, so The Warrior was learning them from him. It lead to some great segments....warrior being put in a coffin, in a pit of snakes, buried alive.....before it really took off as a storyline, Warrior left.
I was looking forward to a Jake-Warrior feud. Based on what we saw Jake do to Savage, it would have been very interesting. One of the greatest faces vs. the best heel of all time.
I think the Undertaker's debut should have been saved for that Funeral Parlor angle where he attacked Warrior. It would have been so awesome & nobody would have known who he was. What a debut it could have been. If I would have done it, I would call it the Covenant of Evil or perhaps the Pact to bury the Warrior.
I remember seeing in a magazine a picture of Warrior and Taker staring at each other with ppl dressed up in suits on the side, but I never knew how that happened until I watched this contract signing!! It made sense!!
That picture must have been from the 4/91 SNME. There was a Warrior vs. Slaughter match on that SNME where Paul Bearer wheeled the coffin that Warrior was trapped in to the ringside. During the match the lid opened & the Undertaker popped out & interfered in the match & attacked Warrior with Slaughter. Hogan came in for the save & cleared Slaughter's entourage and left Warrior & Undertaker. Warrior cleared Undertaker from the ring and the 2 had a staredown with officials between them.
warrior and savage were both awesome and their match at mania 7 total overshadowed the hogan/slaughter main event amazing how much smaller warrior was when he came back at maina8 though!!
Undertaker was so cool when he first came on the scene. Before the short hair, before the biker gimmick. So great. WCW dropped the ball on him sooo badly.
