  • Haha! Eeewww!!! :)

  • 8 people got drugged up by Robert Webb.

  • huh, i was wondering why Robert Webb came to my school and gave me a copy of Nuts, a bag of coke and a plastic cup. funny world

  • I love the point this is making, among a whole host of points. What does 'angry art' become when it does not provoke anger or the expected reaction? Does it become a waste of time?

    Also very funny.

  • @yellowcougar18

exactly. when you say or do something simply to get a reaction, you're probably not saying or doing anything worthwhile. when you don't get the reaction, that becomes very clear.

  • @neomp5 I wonder what would happen if people just ignored wasters like Damien Hirst. See how quickly he would be forgotten then...?

I mean, some of the most honest artwork is far more shocking, and alarming than anything that so called shock artists produce. I mean, they are like candy, produce a reaction once, but one ends up hungry for art, like Beethoven, Picasso, and others. Tracy Emin and Hirst, among others, are just not chinese food in the artworld.

  • @yellowcougar18

it's like the difference between a real horror movie and one of those weak horror movies that just tries to surprise you, it's not a deep or lasting emotion, just a basic reaction.

  • @neomp5 Oh Horror movies are a topic in and of themselves. Horror generally works best when it is based on a real life topic, ie The Fly is a cancer/AIDS/Science etc etc analogy, and works amazingly well because of it. The Changeling (George C Scott film) is really scary because it has the whole storyline of losing loved ones, child abuse and murder, all wrapped up in a sad & scary tale. Horror works best when you don't show it, and leave it in the audiences mind. Hostel/ Saw and others contd

  • in my eyes are not Horror movies. They just try to shock people with latex and corn syrup, which is not scary. I actually find the films comical, not scary. Horror works best when it is left in the audiences mind. I mean, think about death in cinema. Old Yeller gettting shot & Bambi's mom, for example, never show either getting shot, but it upsets us immensely as kids. Because, just like the shower scene in psycho, the director makes us the killer. Leave it in the audience mind, works better.

  • @yellowcougar18

what i meant was that it's much more interesting when the artist communicates something that lasts, something that leaves you shaken for hours or days. that's real shock value. if all they do is startle you for a few seconds, what's the point? i'm not actually into horror movies, but i think this goes for all art. like, for example, music that makes you weep, rather than just something you tap your fingers to while you drive.

  • @yellowcougar18 What the hell are you talking about lol

  • @uiruu Just critiquing art and all mediums assoicated with it. Not totally off topic with the video, but a bit of a departure.

  • @yellowcougar18 That's not really what Hirst and Emin are about. Their true position is due mainly to their celebrity, not their art practise. Their art is worth a lot because they are famous, they are famous because they received a lot of promotion from key critics early in their careers... And aside from that big money art is more about inflated value and fiscal speculation for the purposes of shifting large amounts of cash without too many tax worries by the wealthy and large corporations.

  • AND DRUGS!

  • It's refreshing not having canned laughter. I don't want to be told when to laugh, on American shows they may as well have a flashing banner appear saying "LAUGH NOW". As if the punchlines aren't already blatantly signposted and accompanied by ridiculously exaggerated facial expressions so that even an imbecile can laugh on cue, and after that they explain the joke, so that if someone asks you why you were laughing you can avoid looking like the incredibly dim-witted moron that you are!

  • @DeathSlayer2 I know what you're saying and i agree about it being kinda insulting/patronising, i think they just do it because it gives the viewer better environment. I think they base in on laughter being contagious :3

  • @DeathSlayer2 Friends? yeah...

  • When I was younger I drew a picture of a hand with the middle finger up, flipping the bird. I showed it to my teacher and she said "ooh what a great picture you drew!"

    I was so pissed off.

  • @Baldurpet

Daniel Pinkwater wrote a short story about being an art teacher and trolling his students in that exact way.

  • lol, those are some shitty cows

  • hehehe, he's gutted she dosent find it controversial

  • thank you, captain obvious.

  • you do me a dis-service sir

as i've been demoted to private obvious.

  • Oh right. I get it now. Thanks.

  • "no that's not how you do cows"

  • LOL...THIS IS GREAT!

  • "And drugs!"

"Great, I do love angry art"

  • why didn't he came to my school?

  • srry, we ment to tell you but you were off :(

  • lol brilliant.

  • All frozen around my own bollock, lmfao hilarious.

  • "what a smashing project"

  • Haha that was brilliant

  • actually that mitchell and webb look is shown to a real audience

  • correction.

    Shit joke.

  • 'No, that's not how you do a cow' haha.

  • i couldnt help notice there was no background laughter

  • Yes, it's not friends.

  • yes, like most comdey shows (not just friends)

mitchell and webb sketches usually have backgroud laughter...

  • Ah I get what you're saying, the Mitchell and Webb situation didn't have any of that canned laughter (or even audience) laughter that other shows have. Let's you realise for yourself what's funny though which I like. I am a big fan of friends though. :D

  • I like shows better when they don't have the laughter; it gives them more room to do stuff, and it feels more authentic. Also, it let's you laugh at things that you think are funny, not the audience necessarily.

  • that's not what he was saying at all - most M&W look sketches do have laughter, this one does not. Any ideas why? thanks

  • because it's M&W situation not look, went away and did my h/w... sos

  • no problem :D

  • @JeffUK Live audience laughter (but not canned laughter) is not really such a bad thing for sketch comedy. For sitcoms it is horrible because it totally removes you from the illusion of watching real characters living their lives, but in a sketch comedy I think it works. Unless you are a complete moron, you can realize for yourself what is funny or not, and you'll only laugh if something genuinly makes you laugh. the laughter is just good because laughter is a social activity, so it enchances.

  • @gnomit

You make a fair point. I suppose it depends on the tone of the show. Sometimes canned laughter works, especially for zanier and slapstick style comedies and it often adds to the humour. Often with grittier, more modern sketches it works well without the canned laughter. Sometimes the silence is what helps.

  • @JeffUK i agree, silence can be great too. Imagine the Office with a laugh track? The awkward moments of silence that made that show what it was would be completely gone.

  • Mitchell and Webb Look has background laughter, Situation was much earlier and didn't have a laughter track.

  • They are joking.

If you want laughter track just enable it in your youtube user prefs - easy!

Although it should be set to 'on' by default.

  • laughter tracks ruin comedy

this is so much funnier without it

  • Yes but thit isn't a laughter track it's actually a live audience but I don't blame you...I mean they do get laughter tracks be recording audiences, don't they?

  • What do you mean live audience? They're in a field! You can see in front of them on one shot, are you trying to insinuate they got a live audience to hide in that farm in front of them, watching it with binoculars while keeping out of shot for the sole purpose of this sketch? Sir, I believe you are talking bollocks.

  • No, they film the clips by themselves then put them together and play them TO a live audience.

  • from a real audience

  • Classic little tidbit :-) He does the pissed expression well.

  • i like paintings. some of them are modern.

  • AND DRUGS!

  • funny

  • I love it when cretins don't understand very basic humour.

  • brainless, stupid, child-like, and full of pointless

information that makes no sense and appeals only to other cretins.

  • @xpez

    Exactly..er...I think.

  • @xpez In other words, rather like you?

  • @Joiner113 noodle...it's sarcasm...

  • @xpez The internet isn't known as the greatest medium for sarcasm... you just looked like a hater.

  • '...AND drugs!'

  • lol

  • Well thats probably either because your mentally retarded or- and this is an OR (the second suggestion is very unlikely)- you just have a really BAD sence of humor...as I said, it's probably the first... gawd if you dont like it, you dont have to tell the whole freakin' world!!! SHEEEEEEEEEEESH!!!

  • ...all that for "I don't get it"?

Get some fresh air. There's a good fellow.

  • At least he didnt say it was shit like so many internet fuck tards.

  • hahaha
