I remember seeing a video about chaos and collapse. Grains of sand were falling one by one to form a pyramid. It became quite high then one grain of sand fell on the top of the pyramid and there was an avalanche effect where all of the sides slide away to the base. Tensions in seemingly stable structures give way to collapse. It happens in ecosystems, in relationships. It only takes a grain of sand, a nudge, the flap of a moth's wing, and we pass beyond the tipping point.
