  • Wicked white people think they control the earth!

    Go to hell Nazi Demons!!

  • Stupid git just has to get in a plug for his lame "documentary" Expelled. Sure he's making sense but he's not exactly expressing any novel thoughts here. The only two people in the world who thought otherwise were Palin and McCain.

  • here even crazy christian ben stein makes sanse

  • I like Ben Stein when he talks about economics. It's his expertise. He should never try to talk about biology again however.

  • Boycott ben stein freecreditreport

  • Wow, Ben Stein is making sense here.

  • Ferris Buller DOES NOT make you smarter then "RON PAUL" You are NOT an AMERICAN HERO Like RON PAUL!!!

  • If Sarah Palin is actually elected President, she might be willing to purge the Republican party of neocon traitors like Ben Stein.

  • Why would she want to purge the republican party of neocons when she herself is? Her view on nation building and the U.S. being the police of the world are just a few examples of her neoconservatism views.

  • One idiot cretisizing another idiot..... oh the irony

  • HAHA "she should have Henry Kissinger baby sitting her"

    LMAO!

  • love the super baby referance.

  • WOW.....he sounded very disappointed in John McCain for picking Sarah Palin!! LOL....loved it!! :)

  • It's amazing how many blinks Ben Stein can fit into a two minute video.

  • Obama doesn't know anything about economics either and he's the President elect.

  • You're a Goddamn idiot.

  • I must agree with bcw.

P.S: They are both dictators. ;)

  • On the topic of Expelled: whenever you just curse Mr. Stein and tell him to shut up, you're pretty much validating the reason the documentary was made in the first place.

  • I read a YAHOO! financial review written by Mr. Stein and his thesis was based on how America is RECESSION proof. I thought he was an economist, maybe hes just old school.

  • 1:04: Get the fuck off TV you idiot.

  • I usually vote for Democratic candidates and dno't always agree with him, but I respect Ben Stein. He's intelligent, has well-thought-out ideas and talks to us as if we're adults, unlike the likes of clowns like Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly.

  • Stein has a lot of nerve being critical of McCain's choice of Palin. What hypocrisy.

Its funny how many conservatives and the media (which has treated Bush/Cheney with kid gloves and was cheerleading for US war crimes in the middle east) are now worried about the prospect of Palin getting in.

And yet this is the very kind of candidate they always wanted... a folksy, gun-toting, anti-intellectual, Christian fundamentalist.

Watch out what you ask for, you just might get it...

  • Huh? What are you readinglistening to? Conservatives are worried that McCain might get in, not Sarah Palin. In fact we are delighted that she is but a heart beat away from the presidency.

  • Ben is wrong about one thing (besides ID): JFK, even as a kid and as a young man, followed his ambassador dad around Europe, but Palin is proud of her ignorance of the world outside of Alaska. Yet the Prez's job focuses on foreign policy!

  • "I can think of no faster way to unite the American people behind George W. Bush than a terrorist attack on an American target overseas. And I believe George W. Bush will quickly unite the American people through his foreign policy." -Henry Kissinger

If McCain is elected we shall more wars and many, many innocent people will be killed. Both Henry and John are war criminals and bloodthirsty evil warmongerers.

  • Good, Stein.

Talk about economics and NOT science... because you're an ECONOMIST and not a SCIENTIST.

And stfu about that crock ID.

  • At least he didnt approve of Palin just because she's an idiot Creationist.

  • great, have henry kissinger babysit her. an extremely corrupt ex-political insider who has been accused of crimes against humanity would probably help her to condense and concentrate her existing ideas on aggression and fundamentalism.

  • What Ben said is shocking but the truth is someone was listening to Ben because Sarah met with Kissinger last week. OMG! We are in HUGE trouble because on Friday, McCain kept telling the world how he and Kissinger have been friends for 35 years. Henry Kissinger has brought more hate to our great nation than any other political figure.

  • BEN STEIN IS A RACIST which supports my argument of dabating an ignorant RACIST

BEN STEIN VIEWS MOSTLY AGREES WITH OBAMA but wont endorse him because he 's black

  • You are a typical black dude who thinks everything goes back to racism. Get over yourself. People don't like Obama because he doesn't have experience. People don't like you because you are a dumb asshole. It's not a black thing, so stop using that excuse the world is sick of it.

  • i didn't know ben was a republican until this election came about. i admired him so, as a smart guy. but for him to tote the party line on interviews,... it must guys gall him to no end. he must take tums when he gets home at night.

  • It depends what Ben means by "intelligent design". Roman Catholics believe in Evolution as part of god's plan. Their version of intelligent design. So they have their cake and pray over it, too.

  • Typical Ben Stein, bashing what he believes at first then doing a quick switch to support what he originally was bashing.

Watch up to the 1 minute mark, he saids "they were selling themselves as the ticket of experience now thats out the window; deal with foreign policy crisis is out the window; what we have now is fundamentalists, born again, backwoods American values"

Then does the quick switch by saying "THAT IS FINE, I SUPPORT ALL OF THEM VALUES"

  • Ben:"She has not said a word on the national economy". Time 1:17 "as in terms for the economy, as far as I know she has absolutely zero background in it."

Then saids "THATS FINE" what the...!?

Hmmmm...geee so is Ben openly admitting he supports an idiot or is he trying to do a loony toon switch like in the old Bugs Bunny cartoons where Bugs and Elmer Thud say "yes, no, yes, no" then bugs saids what Elmer saids and Elmer starts to contradict himself? Don't let Ben fool you.

  • I mean Fudd.

  • @DMalenfant1

    Well, he is a creationist.

  • I wouldn't mind being an Alaskan right about now as they are each receiving their $3,200 check! I'd rather have Palin's "lack of experience" over Obama's lack of experience any day. God forbid, if McCain dropped dead after only 1 day in office VP Palin can move right on up the ladder and run this country just as beautifully as she has managed everything else in her life and career. She can do no worse than any of all the other VP Joes and in fact has a proven record that she will do BETTER.

  • ...that's his real voice?

  • What is your position on the Bush Doctrine?

    Bueller?..... Ferris Bueller?

  • Stein doing the rounds. Right after this he was probably on FOX praising the choice of Palin.

  • He was supporting Palin here as well.

  • Every 4 yrs or so Ben Stein stops carrying republican water & has a truth attack kinda like that Jim Carrey movie. So you have witnessed a rare republican phenomenon as in "Fundamentalist, born again, backwoods values". Superwoman gets a brain implant with all the knowledge in the world with a micro receiver for translation by Harvard's Martin Feldstein & Karl Rove. Ben, you can't compare Palin to JFK. I never knew JFK but she ain't no JFK ...economically, or otherwise.
  • Perhaps McCain can fill her in, now that they agree on drilling also ;)

  • Oh please, Ben. This isn't an 'odd choice'. It's a fundie's wet dream. You and her both believe in creationism. That's the only thing that makes any difference. And the religious cult she belongs to is going after YOUR people. Get used to it.

  • Watch the ReligiousReich types distance themselves from Stein over this: he was their darling when he came out with his Anti-science "Expelled" flick, but he's not bleating in time with the chorus over Caribou Barbie.

With neither Grampy McSame nor Caribou Barbie able to offer a solution to a record federal deficit and rising unemployment, "the Party of Fiscal Responsibility" will further degenerate into "the Party of the Holy Roller Ku Kluxers", just like in the 1920's.

  • i would just like to say ben stein like confuses the crap out of me. the things he says one sec u would think he is a raving liberal the next gun totting conservative. I also disagree with him on alot he said.

And as for CNN go away

  • He's right. I rarely agree with Ben, but he's right.

  • ben stein is a fcking moron who has no idea what he's talking about. see: "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed"

  • Ben's a good guy, but on economics, he doesn't know what he's talking about. With respect to taxes, Ben usually shrugs his nebbish shoulders, turns on his whiney voice and says "the government needs the money." Frankly, I'm surprised he had such a conventional response. He's usually a lot more inciteful.

  • "He's usually a lot more inciteful."

Perhaps you meant "insightful" (showing insight)...but your alternative (inciteful: as in instigating or inciting something decidedly negative, such as hysteria or hatred) is more accurate than you obviously intended!

  • You wouldn't last 2 nano seconds with

republican water carrier Ben Stein on

    economics or Superman Comics.)

  • BegAligtor--thanks for the spell check. DangerOusknowledge-- Ben was frothing at the mouth in that interview (calling the Evangelical vote "backward" I believe). When he gets that frustrated, even an unlettered boob like, say, Bill Maher could take him in the two nanos. It wouldn't take me. I graduated from Stanford. Where'd you study, Skippy?

  • I be schooled at BYU, Mr chesterfieldtownship

    sir. HA!

  • That just means you paid your tithing, right?

  • I'm paying it right now.

  • Praise Ben Stein

  • O'Brien is a bleeding heart liberal idiot.

  • McCain will hold her hand and on just about every Question will claim I was a POW or push Palin out front for a few lines to divert or minimize his stupidity.

  • This has noting to do about raising a family or gender. Mccain selected the wrong person. Bobby Jindal was immensely more qualified and in a better position to lead. John must drop the advisers he's currently using because they are horrible. Lieberman would have been horrific (Romney likewise). Huckabee could have served the same purpose (i.e., exciting the base), but unlike Palin he would have been ready to lead.

  • Stein is not a dick and Mccain is a fool! The democratic base is larger (this year) than the republican base! There was no need to select a VP that could stir the emotions of the base. The key was selecting someone like Bobby Jindal from Louisiana, who has a compelling backstory, and he also has the bulb power to challenge Obama's. Jinal also would have garnered major points for successfully keeping the casualties low following Hurricane Gustav. This was a really bad pick! Jindal was key!

  • 5 kids (1 retarded) and a grandkid to support on the way, the last thing she should be doing is running for fucking vice president of this country

  • Stein is a dick

  • Gov Palin will need more then 30 days coaching to be ready for the job of VP. She just plain isn't ready. GOP's are fools is they think they can pull this one off. The public are fools if they buy it.

  • She needs a babysitter! LMAO!

  • As far as creationism and evolution.. is either one of these falsifiable? Perhaps we may be using the 'appeal to ignorance' fallacy when we employ either of these as some sort of absolute(or even possibly empirical).

Whichever the case may be, ideologues do not belong in academia(especially not the far extreme; this being absolutists.)

The more we stretch the spectrum of possibilities epistemically, may it be 2-dimensional or more, the more understanding of our existence we may have.

  • yes, evolution is falsifiable.

  • Experience of Obama vs. Experience of Palin... Obama has much less experience in anything political at all. He didn't talk about anything political prior to running for president.

I see ignorance when people(Stein here)attack a candidate's situation when it's better than the alternative.

I tried to pull an Obama and applied for a CEO job the other day and said that I had no experience whatsoever with anything remotely close to management, but I blew a lot of hot air. It didn't work.

  • If I think Ben Stein is right about anything, should I just end it all right now?

He should be happy that for the first bizarro-world time in US history we have a creationist on a major party ticket. He should be doing a little comical jig.

But hey, they all eat their own.

Also, this has to be one of the lowest audio levels EVER. I have my headphones and pc cranked and can barely hear this. How about checking levels when uploading? Suggestion, loves ya.

  • Palin's energy programs will help the economy.

  • Obama leads McCain 50 to 42 per cent in new Gallup poll. Thats all that matters, the numbers. And in this economy, it's the economy stupid...again and that is the primary issue that will win Obama the White House.

  • Sarah Palin can not hold a candle to Joe Biden. The idea that she will bleed-off Hillary votes simply because she is a woman, is assuming that women will ignore the fact that they are complete polar opposites.

  • Gotta love it when even the GOP watercarriers hate mccain/palin.

  • still waiting for palin to give a policy speech...

  • Ben Stein doesn't understanding science.

  • Biden will rape Palin mercilessly come debate time.

  • disgusting comment.

  • Its true Biden is miles ahead of Palin. If you have a problem with the word rape, then kill yourself , because it means to pwn in this context.

  • kill myself!?? God forbid.

i have a problem with the word rape in this context, because my mother raped me...

    have a heart...

  • WTF these are two different contexts. Thats horrible but you need to develop an emotional shield through therapy or something to get through life.

  • i have Jesus.

  • Bring on the DEBATES!!!

  • LOL. A fucking dumbass trashing another dumbass.

The state of America is fucked.

XVX for life, R.A.S.H. 'til death.

  • He needs to get the red out of his eyes...try Visine.

  • ben stein in the man

  • i say she will resign,,, and its ok,,, she stole obamas thunder,,, she did her job

  • I can't believe, Stein is saying this

  • Wow -

Ben Stein slamming a fellow fundie.

That shows just how bad Palin is.

Got news for you, Bennie. It's not possible. This isn't college. Sarah Palin can't pull a couple of all-nighters and fake her way through finals.

    The world is playing chess.

Palin doesn't even know checkers yet.

  • fundies, UNITE! Go Fundy Racy, Go!

  • Love it.

  • Write in Ron Paul

  • By all means, do! People who vote for Ron Paul are otherwise more likely to vote Republican. That will give an advantage to Obama over McCain, just like Nader gave an advantage to Bush over Gore in a very close election. GO RON PAUL!

  • This is a democracy what are you a politician or a voter?

  • That douchbag Stein made me smile with that one. He might believe in ID, but Palin is too much for him.

  • Fucking wako ! intelligent design? hahah

  • tell me about it! what kind of a psycho doesn't thinks that everything came from nothing? lol it's almost like he believes in the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

  • I agree with most of what Ben Stein said here, but a follow question should've been, "In light of what you just said, are you going to still support the GOP ticket?"

I bet he will. He's a diehard Republican and former Nixon speechwriter. Just like many of his hypocritical brothers in the GOP, he will support somebody only because they have an R after their name, at the expense of America. It's not "Country First" to him, but "Party First."

  • daftool,

Great point. That really is the heart of the problem all across the United States, and Canada for that matter; People who simply vote blindly for the same party, no matter what. This polarized mindset counteracts party's and politicians being held accountable by the people. Basically it defeats democracy.

  • She can't talk about foriegn policy or international affairs or, as Ben Stein points out, economic matters. He points out that he believes in Intelligent Design, but Palin thinks Creationism, not ID, should be taught in science class, has tried to have books removed from that den of perversion, the Wasilla Public Library, & doesn't believe in sex education, as ironically exemplified by her own unwed pregnant teenager. The last thing America needs is a religious nutjob a heartbeat away from power

  • lol...apparently you missed the last 8 years.

  • haha, no...I hit the 500 character limit and couldn't finish my sentence.

  • Lol, at least you're paying attention.

  • >"He points out that he believes in Intelligent Design, but Palin thinks Creationism, not ID, should be taught in science class"

Intelligent Design IS Creationism. This is just one creationist bagging on another creationist.

  • Actually, they aren't the same; close, but not the same. Creationism is straight from the Bible, no science involved, some 2000 yrs old. Intelligent Design is hardly 2 decades old. It's a hodge podge of pseudoscience that incorporates what we now know about DNA, that says this is just too perfect & exact & complicated to have occurred by chance, which is a direct slap in the face to the mechanics surrounding Evolution. It says that the Bible's version of events is therefore the best explanation.

  • Intelligent Design was created to make Creationism more palatable to the general public, trying to sneak religion into science classrooms.

I'm a science teacher in the Bible Belt & have to deal with this stuff all of the time. Because Evolution is so controversial, us teachers hardly ever talk about any of this, to the kid's detriment. We now have generations of people in the public who only have rudimentary understanding of Evolution because it is so poorly covered in school.

  • >"Actually, they aren't the same; close, but not the same."

Technically speaking you are correct. But for practical purposes they are similar enough that the creationist book "Of Pandas And People" was converted to an ID textbook by systematically changing the root word "creation" to refer to "intelligent design". The NAS uses the terms interchangeably, calling them "claims of supernatural intervention" that are "not science". As for teaching science in the bible belt- you are my hero.

  • It came as a surprise just how often conflicts arise. I've had students that have walked through my door and called me a "heathen" just for being a science teacher. Clearly, their churches & families are telling them very negative things about science. One kid said, "I don't have to listen to anything you have to say, because none of it's real." :-/

  • >"One kid said, "I don't have to listen to anything you have to say, because none of it's real." :-/"

I hope he didn't mind that imaginary F on his report card, either. : )

This is exactly the wind that blowhard Ben Stein has helped to sow with his 'made for idiots' production, "Expelled". Kids like that seem to be a lost cause... hopefully their disruptive influence doesn't prevent other kids from learning.

  • That kid is a future Sarah Palin and

    obviously presidential material.

  • @dafttool

Yeah, and both Sarah and Stein are creationists.

  • @dafttool

Yeah, and both Sarah and Stein are creationists.

  • @dafttool

That's just sad. As an Orthodox Christian i have no problem with Science, nor my religion. They are separate fields of study. One involves the physical world the other the metaphysical. Sometimes i wonder about some of my fellow Americans.

  • Why do you think she was picked?

  • Is Ben Stein Jewish? Because given the close relationship between Palin's church and Jews for Jesus he and other Jewish McCain supporters might want to think twice about supporting McCain. Because this crazy woman is just a heartbeat away from the presidency and there's a very good chance McCain will die of natural causes before his term is over. If this lady becomes president we are royally fucked!

  • Harvard and Columbia vs. University of Idaho??

Also America has been interviewing him for the past 19 months. John McCain talked to her for 15 minutes and thought she was ready. Come on...There is no comparison between her and Obama.

  • Where did he or she claim to be defending Obama? Calling it like it is doesn't equal defending the opposition.

  • "You people"?

    Nice.

  • OMG. I agree with Ben Stein. Hell has officially frozen over.

  • If Ben Stein can see the problems with mccains vp pick then anyone moderately intelligent ought to see right through this political ploy. His analogies are utterly stupid however.

  • I am not a fan of Stein after his BS movie, but here he is right about her. The fact is she has no clue what she is going and is just the side show that will burn out

  • Its the Economy, people. The economy in Alaska is nothing like the economy in the lower 48. She really has no idea what she is going on the stage she is going to be on. All of what she is going to say is going to be feed to her from the top people on McCains side tonight. This is still the side show but we cant play this game. Let the ticket implode on it self and just sit back and keep hitting McCain hard and fast with the truth and we will win.

  • She may not know anything about the economy, but if there is ever a coyote infestation, or if a fly-fisherman is having trouble with his knots- Sarah Palin will be there! lol.

  • and when its time for us to work out what is going on in alaska yea she would be a good person to work with, But she has no clue but what she is being told about anything else

  • Masterhook exhibits a kind of approved prejudice in mocking Alaska's economy--as though the people of Alaska didn't understand economic reality. The flip side of this would be to say something like "what does a community organizer from the hood know about American economics." Prejudice is prejudice, whether you direct it at Alaskans or Chicagoans.

  • I would refer to that as a generalization, rather then approved prejudice. My post was actually quite accurate. Sarah Palin is an avid hunter and fishermen.

  • masterhook: "The economy in Alaska is nothing like the economy in the lower 48."

Ain't that the truth. Every citizen of Alaska each year gets an oil dividend check, thus one of the main reasons that even Alaskans not a part of the oil industry are gungho to drill all over the state.

  • but people also don't know that the windfall that the state got from us having to pay almost $5 at the pump was not used for education or anything that can be useful. She just had the state right nice big checks to the people of the state, over a $1000 each

  • In other parts of the world that's called 'socialism'...I don't object to citizens benefiting directly from the natural resources that they have available to them, rather than private industry....but why won't any honest Republicans step forward and call it what it is? Palin presides over the socialist state of Alaska. SAY IT.
