  • When I first heard this song almost 5 years ago on an documentary of Jolson made in the UK, I thought it sounded amazing.

  • Thanks for the explanation. Of course, NOW, everything makes sense. Apologies to you for suspecting something else. You know, I do not fathom why companies like Warner fail to realize that having clips on youTube is VERY GOOD. Example, I recently saw "Dames", which prompted me to search youTube. Subsequent to that, I have purchased DVD copies of "Dames", "Gold Diggers of 1933" and "42nd Street", all three Warner titles. This would NOT have happened were it not for youTube. When will they learn??

  • @kenramonet9 It amazes me too. Many of these corporations, (a big culprit for me is SOFA entertainment) have their own YOU TUBE accounts !! They put up the videos that they own,..and anyone can download them, thereby defeating their original purpose of people buying the discs from them. I have had 3 channels in the last few years only to be "struck" down by SOFA, who owns the Ed Sullivan Show. These people are the biggest hypocrites of all

  • you might explain to everyone here exactly why Warner required the inclusion of the still shots and, further, why they were placed in the positions they were. they cannot have any copyright protective qualities, and there positioning inside the dance sequence performance damages its integrity and mars the creator's intent.

  • @kenramonet9 Hi Kenramonet: Warner music and entertainment started this whole copyright thing with you tube about four years ago. First it was music (and still is) then they pulled CERTAIN clips of their films. I must admit, I put the clips in just to break it up; and was not certain how it would effect its status by the copyright owners. Having said that, what bothers me the most is the CHANGE in the music pitch, which many here may not even hear. ., continued

  • @ClassicPerformances2 the soundtrack is about a half tone OR MORE up in pitch. Also the slight echo i put in. I must have re edited the music on this video 7 times in pitch and echo adjustment. It appears Warner Music and you tube sensors were very critical of this particular soundtrack. The bottom line as I see it now: you have a decent point regarding my placement of the stills, which I was less concerned with at the time, and more concerned with the music.

  • i VERY MUCH mind the way you have interspersed, cut-in, and otherwise disfigured this clip from "Dames" with still shots and tacky editing that sprawls over major portions of the clip. I am certain Mr. Berkeley would have heartily disapproved of the way you altered his work. I understand that you were paying hommage and tribute to Dick Powell and Ruby Keeler, but good God, why wouldn't you have placed your tribute at the beginning (or the end) of the clip?

  • @kenramonet9 Ok. First off the film is copyrighted by Warner Brothers. Editing was mandatory a bit throughout just to get it on to you tube. If anything was put at the end, we risk getting it pulled off, not to mention a strike on my account. This is the ONLY reason for the editing, which is noted at the beginning. How you may of put the stills in of course is a matter of the individuals choice. What may have interested you more is that the audio HAD to be altered to get it on to you tube

  • @ClassicPerformances2 Thank you for your explanation this way; it's sad but undoubtedly true.

I would think that to have these clips up would obviously encourage people to obtain the whole film but those that own the rights to this stuff obviously don't feel that way; pity.

  • @SatchmoSings Yes, this is the situation now with music and or film that users would like to put parts of onto you tube. What else can one say?

  • @kenramonet9 Dude, chill out, I thought the video was amazing! Who shat in YOUR cereal this morning!?! Oh and by the way, great editing on the video. A great video showing us all "I Only Have Eyes for You" in Dames. Thank you Classic!

  • When movies were movies! I love the sound.

  • Busby Berkeley's tribute to his leading lady, Ruby Keeler. The "Iris" shot beginning at 3:58 and the further seconds remind us of how creative Hollywood was, and, can be again.

  • una verdadera joya de la humanidad y de aquel hollywood dorado ,saludos

  • they should do that again in musical videos!!!!! it would be original for nowadays :)
