a breeder but if your going down that road make sure that both parents have being vet checked hip scored etc:) but you also find some gsd in shelters to cause people get these dogs but there not ready for it gsd are amazing dogs but you have to put the time and effort into it , i had one for 12 years before he died amazing dog and i got my new puppy Rooney at the end of may and with hard work he's turning out to be another amazing dog

Bandit has eating issues. He doesnt eat well .The only thing that he will pretty much inhale is Chicken necks but he needs meat. What do you feed Sam and Bandit isnt food motivated. Is there anything i can try to get him to listen to me when at a place with many distractions?

@eyepincher my heart went out to when i read this. so sad when i meet someone who is afraid of dogs. the only advice I think is good to give you would simply be to buy the dog whisperer season 4: vol 2. episode 25 deals with this and is an extra long episode just for those with a fear of dogs. i think you could really benefit a lot from this. keep me posted and good luck!

@LK434 yes, german shepard's can shed a lot of hair but, if you groom them about 1 times a week and you should be ok.When there winter coat begins to shed that is when you are going to need to groom them more often, this should only last max of 2 weeks. I hope i answered your question. If you are thinking of getting a german shepard they are great dogs and do good in family, but they are kind of a by your side at all times dogs.

Congrats on Sam s birthday , and nice vid , reminds me so much of my last 2 shepherds sadly they have both gone. After I lost my last shepheard i swore never to get another< I couldnt put myself through the heart break of looseing my best freinds again ,. You become so attached to them.

Are you doing obediance work with him , you going to trial him ?, He certainly looks like he has what it takes . So heart warming to see the bond between a man or woman with their dog .

well from my personal experiences... we adopted a german shepherd puppy who had been abused, he seemed okay with us , but he was overly protective on his new family and didn't want to let anyone near us for the first few months, but now he's starting to calm down and is being more friendly with people, but he does will get jealous if her hug and don't give him a hug ^^;

@ lonewolf, if you go to a pet store ask them to see a "gentle leader", thats what sam was wearing, it reduces your dog from tugging the leash by applying pressure on the snout. But sam is pretty big, cant wait for my gsd to become full grown, but very nice vid thanks for the link in the message =)
