@Syn4ev no it's not I'm going to take a wild guess and say u watch Smallville? Love it but unfortunately lex is wrong... (I'm pretty sure ur referring to that)
Hi, wanted to thank you. I bought the 1,2 and 3 Alfred Basic on amazon but there was no version with the CD. You were/are a great help with getting the right tune/speed for the pieces. I've just finished book 1 and started book 2. Got all your videos from you tube downloaded and using them as basics for my playing (less than a year, no teacher). Thank you for sharing the videos on you tube. You were the so needed teacher I have never had;) - greetings from Holland
I've been watching your videos for a while and decided to post to let you know that you are playing wonderfully and I admire your diligence and perserverance. I started book 1about 3 weeks ago and it is going great. I have the cd to go along with the book so that helps a lot and so does your videos. I just have one question: are you able to read music readily now for the pieces you play?
:) It's good to have another classmate doing alfred's series.
No, and I am learning that skill at the moment, I am studying grade 4 piano exam now with alfred's book 3. I haven't done pre-grade to grade 3 piano exam, and after I finish book 2 my piano teach said I can start learning grade 4 exam right away. So Alfred's series is good :).
Why I am mentioning this is because one of the core thing needed in the graded piano exam is called "sight reading" and that's the read music readily thing you mentioning.
Read -> organizing -> play fluently
When my piano teacher play a new music sheet I show her, she can play instantly doesn't matter how hard the sheet is ( for me, most of them is hard ...)
I simply can't do it right now, always wrong note and rhythm, and at the moment I don't know how to improve this "sight reading" skill
"sight reading" is just memorization. try to focus on the notes as you play them but don't tense up or over think it or you might not be able to play as well as you could.
The rythym part is alot harder, if you don't know what the song sounds like and you just reading it off the page it can be difficult to determine what an allegro in 3/4 sounds like.
At least this is the method i use, but i can't play as well as you, i can only instantly play what i read i lack feeling which makes good music
Beautiful! I am learning from this book also. I am on page 54. Your vidoes are a big help & encouragement to me. Thank you for sharing. Are you going to continue with book 3?
This is extremely amazing. Though I would have loved it a bit higher, but it doesn't matter because it's already perfect!

Wonderful rendition of a wonderful song. I just learned how to play it. It makes me sad every time I hear it. Never did figure out why.
