  • "Their training is ridiculous"

Have you even watched the movie?

The training is supposed to filter out the corrupts and the weak minded

  • A lesbian and a fag !! Why don't you guys suck each other !!!

  • What that sissy and that "I don´t wanna say what she is" woman don´t know is that there´s a huge difference between the movies they use to apreciate and Elite Squad. This one try to show us the thing as it really is. Is not a show for what you want to see is most like what you need to see.

Curiosity: I learned what the word "sissy" mean yesterday and now I already have a good reason to use it.

  • WTF! I think that girl just watch fims like twilight, harry potter... And the guy aren't really a guy, he must be a barbie girl or something... "the camera is always moving.. feel like uhhhh" hahaha

Elite squad 1 and 2 kick a thousand of asses! o/

  • Oh boy, what a crappy review.

  • Their training is ridiculous? How about Navy SEALS and others? It's amazing how liberal some folks are. I guess when you grow up in a household where everything is given without hard work all nice and cozy can completely distort their views. Lady, seriously, shut the fuck up. Liberal bitch. God you made me so mad with your comments.

  • I'm American and I love Elite Squad. The issue with these 2 critics(and many other American critics) is that they expect this to be like every other American cop film. They expect the movie to either glorify the criminals or the cops, this movie does neither. It's a film that allows its viewers to judge for themselves, something that Hollywood films rarely do.

  • You're wrong, she said "i dont know why it became a blockbuster cause it isn't a feel good movie". She's saying that a film must have rainbows and butterflies so it can be a good film? THAT'S REALITY! She's just too f*ing comfort sitting at her ass to see it! Those two can't understand why this film meant so much for brazillians cause they don't know and obviously don't wanna know about living in Brazil. Please, do us a favor and kill yourselves, so you can save us from your nonsense comments.

  • These guys obviously need to take a little conversation with Capitain Nascimento. These bunch of rich boys. They think that all the world is like their country.

  • THIS FILM IS AMAZING BECAUSE IS THE REALLITY OF RIO DE JANEIRO. BOPE, IS FROM RIO DE JANEIRO. YOU DONT GET THE INTENTION OF THE FILM BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW RIO. YOU HAVE A NORTH AMERICAN POINT OF VIEW, TOO SIMPLISTIC. AND WRONGS.

  • This is a polemic movie based on real events.

It just shows that when a society falls into chaos, (extreme) violence ensues.

This movie had a huge impact throughout Brazilian society.

It served as a kind of catharsis for a population fed up with street violence and corruption.

After the movie the police force increased. Now the criminals are facing the heat and Brazilian streets are safer.

Of course there are many other social problems to be solved (the roots of violence) .

  • Hey, I don't mean the commentators! They are ok, I mean the troubled intellectuals.

  • It is a feel good film.

  • It is a feel good movie, I feel great when a drug dealer gets shot here in Brazil

  • these 2 geeks clearly have no idea of what they're talking about, specially what this alison said at the end about not knowing the reason it became a blockbuster because it isnt a "feel-good movie".

5 minutes and 2 seconds of my life ill never get back...

  • negada burra nao sabem ingles e escrevem merda aqui afff

  • its bades on true story

  • parapapaapapapa!

  • I am brazilian and i tell you guys the drogdealer deserve worst of it.. but i have afraid of bope. parapapapapapapapapapa

  • Morro do dedel????

    Onde fica isso?

Aqui no Rio só conheço o Morro do Dendê...

  • haha dedel

  • the brazilian police is the best, with fbi

  • They know nothing about the Brazilian reality.

  • (when I say them I mean the police. The population supports the police)

  • before judging the brazilian police or political pressure on drugs, watch the Ross Kemp documentary on these dealers and what their policy towards ordinary citizens is! The population usually thank them.

Also they're helping to prevent the proliferation of drugs throughout the Americas considering Rio is one of the pivot exporting cities in the world. Other countries like Colombia and Venezuela filter their drug guilt crisis through Rio.

If it wasn't for these forces, Brazil would be like Haiti

  • They know nothing about the crime in Rio...

  • (Alison Willmore)I don´t think that this film glorifies the BOPE police force. They show the reality..

how these guys are under stress..going up everyday in the favelas.. with low payment..and under heavy fire.

Come to Brazil before u make such a superficials commentaries.()

  • I would like to see SWAT going up..in one of these Favelas.

    Receiving low paymend.

  • haha..no chance!

  • Accuse this film of "fascist" is, lack of reasoning

  • These two have no idea on what they are talking about. From life experience, this movie is very realistic. Elite Squad or BOPE, are not fascists, thats the culture in Rio for hundreds of years. The students in Rio supply the drug trade which continue to fuel Rio's drug violence. These two talking about the movie first should do some history then analyze this movie. It did well cause it portrayed life there in every point. These two reviewing clearly demonstrate how liberal some folks are.

  • i dont believe i've just wasted my time watching this crap... two dumbasses talaking about what the have no clue at all... that's reality... you gotta watch the movie anda try to get its point.. nobody is trying to glorify anything... but that's the way things work out here, sadly, of course...

  • They shouldn't try to have these people comment on the movie. They clearly haven't the slightest idea about life in Brazil (and hence, what the movie intend to portrait). The bottom line is, if theme of the movie is so alien to you that you are unable to make intelligible comments about it, you might as well as just say that the movie is the Brazilian version of Rambo.

  • boa tio.

  • What the woman says in the end, about not understanding why the movie became a blockbuster in Brazil, clearly shows that she haven't done her homework.

  • It's easy for those who call BOPE fascists. They are sitting on a confortable chair, living in a first world country, just listening to what brazilian leftwinger intelectuals has to say (and buying it...) And I bet most of them enjoyed City of God, just because the bad boys are seen as victmis of the system.

  • i loved the movie, it was gritty, real and better than any puke i've seen out of hollywood lately

  • eu tenhou o dvd!!!!

  • yeh yeh yeh!!!just the things made in America are good.Could u tell me where Brazil is located?im sure u cant.U dont even know where America is on the map.

  • It's funny to hear them saying it is a disturbing film...well, we live in a disturbing world. And much worse things happen out there. Our world is full of atrocities.

  • "there's situation and situations"

Ask a SWAT member, if they are willing to do Waht bope do?? or even Better ask a Iraq vet.

    "The mean's justifies the ways"

important point not pointed on this critic. the movie show the reality, in 1996/1997. in this 11 Years the situation got worst. man find a AK-47 is usual on the favelas, finding a "bazzoka" is not that usual, they have found "toma-hawk" missile in the slums(wonder where the missile was smuggle from) /

  • A tomahawk in a favela? What for? How the hell would they launch such a beat from a favela? And aiming at what? Some drug lord in Columbia who failed to deliver the goods? Where did you see that?

  • hehehe, it's true. they find some times .50 machine guns missiles, but every day granades, some kind of essential stuff for traficants...

for our luck they dunno how to use missiles and others heavy weapons found... yet.

  • Tomahawk?!

    you're kidding right?

they never use tomahawk because this missile is big, expensive and where the hell they gonna put this stuff?

  • the guy with the glasses is so retarted he is the worst critic ever..... what a deusch bag!

  • Hey, guys.

You all should at least try to research better about the situation in Rio before you stard saying non sense things as you did.

I wanna believe the subtitles were wrong. Different realities create different views, that's what I do think. We don't praise the BOPE as an amazing thing, you know. We didn't want it to be like this, but if you go to some Favela of the Rio, you'll see why they're like this. Thank god I have never gone there even once. JMHamilton and jwcavallaro are right.

  • By the way, perhaps you should be commenting at the end of you awful comments: how hard might be for the Brazilian police to deal with the heavy war weapons showed in the film which are mainly brought to the gang leaders in Brazil by corrupted and unscrupulous American citizens. Sorry, but your incompetence stinks!

  • There is not only a corrupt police force in the story, the film is mainly about the not corrupted part of the police force in Rio.

They methodology might be wrong at your eyes, Americans, but some of them were the only way to deal with traffic dealers in Rio and with the hypocrisy of the "well born" Brazilians, who helps to sustain this drug dealers.

  • I'm commenting with utter disbelief as to their saying; did they take time to watch this film? R they really prepared 2 comment on any film? I'd suggest t u watched properly t story b4 u go about making malicious suggestions & innuendoes about t Brazilian police as a whole; as I c'd c you weren't aware of all the facts relating in t story x the Br. reality. One can't go watching that film and criticizing it without having a minimum knowledge of t reality w involves t drug traffic in Br. (cont.)

  • Sounds like something I would like to see here but people need to know that this is not a American movie and things like do happen in some of these counties. Thank you for sharing this with me.

    John
