  • Outstanding shot, you deserve a DB

  • aover a thaoosand meataas!

  • Wow good shot... Do you remember how many MOA or mils you adjusted? And what kind of groups at 100 do you get with your 140gr hand loads?

  • @Marucs247 Thanks, Groups at 100 Mtr, I can get them touching and regarding the mil dots I don't have mil dots. I have a standard scope with no mil dots etc. I fired three shots the previous day into a rock face at 1,000 mtrs and memorised this the fall etc. it stuck in my mind so used that as a reference. Not very scientific but worked :-)

  • @Australianproperties let me guess. former military snipers. right?

  • Thanks for your comment

  • God is that far. What a good shooter you are man. Really good.

  • nice shot

  • @toiletheadXD Cheers

  • THAT was a hell of a shot! Thin air and no wind? Did you laz the range?

  • @kiwitedferny Hi and thanks. There was a very light breeze and yer we did laz the range and had some luck also

  • FUCKEN.....TIN ASS

  • Has this rifle been accurized in any way, i.e. bedded/floated, trigger lightened, muzzle break? Can I also ask what Leupold 4-12 you are using? e.g. VX1.

The definition of hunting to me would be if an opportunity presents itself, take it. There are many ways to hunt like there is fishing. Whether or not people agree on the sportsmanship is their opinion.

I must admit, your responses are the most polite I have seen on YouTube. Maybe I'll meet you here in Oz one day for a goat shoot.

  • @dac308 Hi, all I have done to it is ensure it is floating and make sure it is kept very clean in the bore. I load my own rounds and ensure I get the best grouping I can. Re the scope, I'm not sure if it's a VX1 or not, I'll check tonight when I get home. It's a standard cross hair without mil dots.

I agree with your comments about ways to hunt & regarding my responses, well I see what some people write on other sites & can not figure why they bother.

Yep would be keen to catch up in Oz one day

  • @Australianproperties that was an amazing shot, did you go and carry that tahr out bro?

  • @unfortunatetrademark. Hi, It was just before dark when the shot was taken so we did not retriev that day. We did go back but as is often the case the terrain looked very different when we got close and we could not retrieve theTahr. Was a bit of a bummer but that's life sometimes.

  • @Australianproperties nice shot bro!!

  • that was an amazing shot!

  • @stylianos75 Hi, It is a Lepold 4-12 x standard cross hair

  • Nothing wrong with that!!!! Beau tie Would love to see the damage!!!

  • was a gud shot! but hunting isnt getting within 1000m of the animal taking aim with a cannon and shooting. hunting is stalking in and getting right up to the animal and shooting it at a closer range. you actually have to hunt the animal for it to be hunting. stalking takes alot more skill, time and effort and is how real hunters hunt. i hunt mainly tahr and red deer on the west coast taking most animals at 25m max. you should sell your 7mag, buy a smaller rifle and practice your stalking skills!

  • @charlykong1 Thanks, I started hunting age 6 with an air rifle shooting rabbits & progressed from there. I was allowed to take out a 22 single shot rifle, was allowed one bullet and had to come home with a rabbit. I have fantastic friends, (Mike and Cheryl) who are keen hunters & very good, they have taught me heaps. We have been amongst Tahr where they’re all around us, close as 25 meters & don’t know we’re there. I’m now 47 yrs old (but still fit) so I’m happy to try some long range shots :-)

  • this isnt hunting

  • @charlykong1 Hi, I guess it depends of your definition of "hunting". I saw it as being a challenging long range shot while out "hunting". What sort of "hunting" do you do and where do you do it?

    Cheers

  • bloody awesome shot mate.. what kind f rifle did u use?

  • @elbot100 Hi and thanks for that. I used a 7mil magnium (Howa) 140 grn projectile. My son was filming, He had just brought himself a new camera with a 70 x optical zoom lens.

  • Great shot mate. I have one on my own wall and they are a magnificant animal to see in the wild. Going after some myself later in the year.

  • Nice shot buddy

  • Cheers for that

  • Fantastic rifle work, my friend. That's a well-deserved tahr right there.

  • @lplozada Thanks for that

  • That was a nice shot, but how does tahr taste? Never heard of them before.

  • @LucklessGun Thanks, Tahr tastes similar to goat and has no fat. If you get a young one or a female they taste great. A big Bull is very tough to eat and strong flavor. Here in NZ the Departmant Of Conservation treat them as a pest and if hunters don't do their bit in controling them the department of conservation send in the helecopters and deal to them.

  • tough meat aside, it looks like a fun hunt. I have no problem with shooting animals just for sport, but i do prefer to eat what i shoot personally. Nothing against people who like to bag a trophy. The only hunting i dislike is bow hunting. Not a fan of letting the animal bleed to death.

  • Yep that's pretty fair to me. The biggest challenge with hunting Tahr is once you have shot one, it's the retrieval that is the biggest issue. Tahr live in pretty tough country so many a time you loose them down a crevasse or similar and it's near impossible to get them out. In many cases we are hunting up around 6,500 feet and they come out early evening. That one I shot was at 7:30pm. Im off hunting again later today and back next Tuesday.

  • @LucklessGun Bow hunting by bow is by no means any less painful for the animal than the rifle is! The only difference being when I go hunting with a bow I have to make sure I get pretty damn close to the animal to get a kill shot. A heart shot means the animal dies in the matter of a minute. Rifleman seem all too willing to take long ranged luck shots which end up with miss hits... The damage of a bone smashing bullet miss hit is by no means any nicer than bleeding to death.

  • amazing shot mate.

  • @boarderx113 Cheers :-)

  • Nice. That's a hell of a shot.

  • @Hellcat040369 Thanks

  • You bad Animal killer!

  • And let me guess... You and your family survive on water alone?

  • @xXLuffyMeXx

haha, humans wouldnt be around without the hunting of animals, its more humane to shoot it than the way your meat from the supermarket is killed.

  • Wow! 5!

  • Cheers

  • thats nice shot well done

  • Thanks for your comment. Cheers

  • Great shot mate.

  • Thanks
