  • You mericans got some good guys. Hank Williams, The Killer, Buddy Holly and Mr Johnny Cash.

  • Yes, he invented rock'n'roll. Speed the tune up a third and it's E...s P.....y.

  • Hank had it figured out, pure gold!

  • I grew up on George Thorogood's version of this song and always liked it but I have to admit Hank's version is alot better.

  • I heard this song in LA Noire, and I fell in love with it ever since! Now everytime I keep murmuring it!

  • @saikatmauser me too

  • Alex Jones Show!

  • @PigMine3 move little dog, move MSNBC ;-)

  • fuck the president

  • blues -> Hank -> rock: the history of American guitar-based popular music.

  • This song is awesome. I just got the extremely rare "40 Greatest Hits" double CD and let me tell you if you can track it down it is worth it. Every song is incredible, I've just gotten into Hank recently. I don't really like most country except for this, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and few select others.

  • You can sing easily Rock Around The Clock on this music! 1947, mind you!

  • @MartijnvanderKooij yeah it's called a 12-bar blues

  • Good for driving a 40 Ford in LA Noire

  • Hm...sounds like my grandmother when she wakes up in the morning...fascinating.

  • love hank will

  • no one can sing hank, love him

  • @S14XJB Hank's grandson, Hank III can sing like him. Check out the song "You're the Reason".

  • i love here hank reminds me of mt dad

  • I want to put a .44 in the disliker heads

  • A QUADRUPLE SLAP??!!! WOOOOOOOW! 1:00

  • 'Cocaine Habit Blues' THE MEMPHIS JUG BAND (1929)

  • 1st Rock And Roll Song 'Going To Move To Alabama' CHARLEY PATTON (1929) (black) Hank williams invented jack xxx

  • Roy Brown - Good Rockin' Tonight 1947

  • Rhythm Willie - Boarding House Blues (1940) (black)

  • this brings back so many memories from when i was a little kid and hearing it at The Pavilion

  • I surmise a Hank Williams version of Cocaine Blues is wishful thinking?

  • IT DONT GET ANY BETTER THAN HANK SR.

  • man never wrote a bad song

  • I was so suprised when I heard this on L.A Noire . Love Hank

  • Rock and Roll as we know it came from this song

  • Does anyone have solid evidence that Hank did actually write these words, or that it was a traditional blues song? It just sounds too traditional and blues vs country to me. The fact that Hank may have owned the copyright at some point is not conclusive evidence in my opinion. A quotation from someone like Leadbelly saying Hank wrote it, or a reference to it's origins by a traditional bluesman, if verifiable, would suffice. Nothing against Hank, he was definitely a pioneer songwriter.

  • @mmmdedek2 Check out wiki. The song had never been heard before Hank did it. He didnt aquire the rights at some point. His only formal musical training was from a black street performer, and he gives credit for that and any songs he sang that came from him, and others. He wrote a lot of songs and the lyrics are in his vain of writing. That Bass line would fit with big band and Jazz wich were very popular at the time. The term Rock and roll, as in a musical genre, hadnt been coined yet.

  • @mmmdedek2 Take away the walking Bass line and it sounds very country. The word rock'n was used in many songs and in many song titles, including Hank songs. And it certainly is not the first example of country music having these elements.

  • 1950s,1960s popular music in 1947!!!

  • I actually think If Hiram would have stayed alive through all of the 50's and 60's he would have become bigger then Elvis , Just my opinion , The good die young though. * Sigh

  • you should put a smiley face when you post such nonsense, or someone will doubt your intelligence by thinking you actually believe it ;)

  • This guy ripped off George Thorogood.

  • @antdigger Obvious troll is obvious, saw you on a video of The Stooges too XD

  • Maybe it is reminiscent of an african-american performer because one of Hank's earliest influences was just that - I'd lay odds this is a cover of a traditional blues song

  • Am I the only one who hears Chuck Berry in this (probably the other way around actually)?

  • @davekeays You hear hank williams in chuck berry.

  • @davekeays Hank was pretty big influence on Ol' Chuck - he talked about including Jambalaya in his early sets.

  • i grew up listening to the classics now my kids listen to them as well

  • My dad sings this song all the time...thats how I know this song

  • My aunt was Hank's neighbor in Prattville, AL, and babysat Hank Jr... Hank Williams is in mhy blood

  • LA Noire

  • this sounds pretty black for a white country boy in 1947!

  • @schclum Correct - what became black music was first white country and the rest is history ...

  • Hank was a great song writer-many of his song have been redone many times. His Museum is in his hometown of Montgomery Alabama. They have the car he died in too.

  • LA Noire is a video game set in 1947 Los Angeles

  • Hank practically invents rock`n `roll in 1947 !!!!

    HARDCORE STUFF !!!

  • @SuperGaryburns Well said

  • Yeah i definitely got this from LA Noire never heard it before, but its pretty good song

One of the best games ever but it was a little too short of a game.

  • Hank, Hank jr., Hank III(looks and sounds like his grandad)

    pop country really SUCKS!!!

  • It's one thing to leave a legacy for your kids- but Hank Sr. left Hank Jr. an entire career worth of songs.

    That's a family business.

  • this song would be great for a fallout game

  • @Alex3817 My thoughts exactly- LA Noire, Fallout, or Mafia III.

  • @Alex3817 too bad... already went great with an LA Noire game.

  • My mom used to force me to listen to Hank Williams while I did the dishes. I hated it then, but now I think he's a genius.

  • i heard of this song from king of the hill :D

  • @thatonefish hahahaha me too!!

  • Anybody know about this song!? Friends this song has been recorded dozens if not hundreds of times by rockers and countrifiers. I'm glad that this game as does that other game whose name escapes uses good music from a variety of styles rather than the poor substitutes (for the most part) we have today.

  • PEOPLE!!!! Who cares where you heard it, you're missing the point, that you actually heard this great song; now can we enjoy the the song.

  • @jcawein289 actually no, I love in Ohio not far from Detroit. Country music is not that big here. but none the less we listen to it all the time. We know what good music is.. Thank You

  • @MsDaniJean Nice!!! Have you checked out his grandson? He's a bit more tough but he has that same sound. I actually just went his concert here in San Francisco on the 24th of sept. Ended up taking a shoulder to the lip in the mosh pit, had to leave early and get 16 stitches lol Hank III might be a bit much for your kids though, he covers some touchy subjects for some people lol Keep on listening to the good stuff :D

  • @jcawein289 Music is music to me.. I'll check it out.. Thank you.. My kids listen to a variety of things. from Ozzy to Opera. We even listen to Blue Grass lol

  • @MsDaniJean Ah an eclectic family, my family is the same way. Good on you guys!

  • super hank williams il a influence un tas d'artistes.il faisait du rockabillie sans le savoir.THANKS

  • and who cares who listen to it first...just enjoy it you fucks

  • im gonna go cornhole me a drunk

  • it is 40s with an electric guitar? (Derp)

  • @CL137626 The electric guitar was invented in the 30's, i believe the exact date was 1931.

  • @CL137626 yes.......

  • one of my favorite type of country music.

  • sorry cito117, It definately is a Hank Williams song, this man wrote loads of great songs in the space of about nine years, he was a geius.

  • I've know about this song since ever! since the 90's!

  • Wow seriously people! You're complaining to each other about where you heard it? To be honest I heard it for the first time when I was playing L.A. Noire, I loved it so much I came onto YouTube to listen to it again! I did a little research on Hank and admired his work. It doesn't matter at all where you first heard it from, Hank is a legend, I just wish I born before I was so I could hear this guy in his prime time!

  • @theyetislayer2 I heard of it because of the george thourogood version.

  • @theyetislayer2 All the research you did isn't enough. You have to get the book on Hank Williams. I haven't even finished it. You'll learn about him from when he was a child through the time he died.

  • "That ain't no Hank Williams song..."

  • @cito117 ...?

  • George Thorogood did a cover of this song.

  • @kd4adv Its not bad.

  • Well If you know much of anything about music you've heard George Thorogood's version of this song. I guess if you are 14 and know nothing about music you probably heard it for the first time in LA NOIRE.

  • my goodness what a song, never heard anything that made me this happy i dont think ! this should be Englands national anthem, i bet u 2/4 of thge population can relate !

  • @dragoncowley i

    ment 3/4

  • I got this record when showed up in a 5 and Dime store in 1948, still have it. See you soon Luke the Drifter.

  • Reminds me of that one time when I was walking through the wasteland before my pep boy broke but it's all good Uncle Hank fixed it for me.

  • I listen to Bullet for my Valentine, Metallica, Rammstein, Slayer, Lamb of God, and all kinds of heavy metal....

    BUT I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • I knew this song before LA Noire, it's an important song well ahead of its time!

  • But only because i like those hound dogs!

  • chevy brought me here?

  • Good music is timeless....so is Hank Williams!!!

  • the method by which you discovered this song is irrelevant, appreciate the music for the appropriate reasons or leave a faggy comment.

  • My dad used to play this all the time when I was a little kid. He would play music like this all the time when he was building his hot rod. I miss those memories.

  • I didn't it from ANY game my daddy played it all the time when I was little and I remember singing and dancing with him to it ahhh memories, I love this song

  • hank is the real king

  • I DIDNT FOUND THIS FROM LA NOIRE! i found it from Guitar Hero :D

  • The year I was born. Can't keep my feet still when I hear this.♪♪♪♪♪♪

  • One of the forefathers of country- always a welcome sound.

  • You can't tell me ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK isn't just a rip off of this song?

  • anyone knows who played a lead guitar in hank's band?. He sure was a killer player..man ,some great licks, jazzy and bluesy.

  • This type of Hank song was part of the transition from country to rock and roll.

To me he is the grandfather of rock and roll, but always the king of country!!!

  • Hank Williams... Did he do the Simpsons Canyonero song? Or Is that someone else?

  • @DefendedHomestand That was Hank Williams, Jr., his only son.

  • I wanted to hit the "like" button one hundred times.

  • 6 little dogs watched this video

  • 6 people had to move it on over.

  • if hank were alive today he would be pissed about nowdays country music

  • Amazing, parts of this song sound just like Rock Around the Clock. Listen to the first 15 seconds and you'll hear it, the words are even about time, just like Rock Around the Clock.

  • Geogre Thorogood

  • @DarkSideOfTheMoon345 ....covered this song.

  • if hank had lived to see the rest of the decade.. wouldve been very interesting to watch him transition into more rock a billy. this guys was a fountainhead of talent. think chuck berry & your talking the type of level of talent this guy had. he wouldve been right w/ berry & may have even lessened elvis' impact, perhaps beating him or at the very least matchin him to the punch. yes, hank was that talented.

  • @kelvinkloud Hank was talented, there is not doubting that fact. No one could match his song writing skills. I am a big fan of Hank's but, he wouldn't have lessened Elvis' impact. No one could have ever done that. Elvis was just that good. He had the entire and complete package.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE... hey like u said about hank, id say about elvis, a lot of talent & i dont minimalize it... but if hank had lived thru the decade & didnt wreck his creative abilities on substances, then i see hank only getting stronger. he would adjust, b/c he had the talent and versatility to do it. elvis as great as he was, wasnt the total package. he couldnt compose & he wasnt good at adjusting to trends like hank was. listen to this song, you can hear both chuck & elvis before they appeared.

  • cont.--> this is really rock-billy w/ a country twist. hank was rooted in delta blues, high lonesome & new orleans sounds. plus he could compose on the dime, concisely w/ wit & ring (just like chuck). I will grant u he wasnt the charismatic force on stage that was elvis & he didnt have his looks either. but he was shrewder and had more complete music skills. elvis wouldve done his thing & yes he wouldve been very big. but he woudlnt be THE name in early rock. hank's talents were that gifted.

  • hank wouldve shined in the turf where a buddy holly did well. its just that hank would be bigger & there earlier. lastly, hank wouldve endured better then elvis., b/c he steered the wheel, not a fat $ grubbing colonel. like cash he wouldve stayed relevant b/c he could adjust & he could write tough lean songs if he had too. dylan loved hank, the insiders know hank & outlaw country wouldve fit like a glove. again i dig presley. an innate incredible talent & voice.dont underestimate the songwriter.

  • Anyone else knew about this song before LA Noire?

  • @LordWellington15 Right here! I wasn't sure anyone was left that knew about this song before LA Noire

  • @LordWellington15 I did! That's why I loved the fact they had him in the game :) I heard this, and was just like, "I know this song! IT'S HANK!" I was so happy :) Good little suprise for me in the game.

  • @LordWellington15 I heard about this song through George Thorogood and The Destroyers cover of it.

  • @91bosshogg Ah, that version is not bad.

  • @LordWellington15 Yeah, I heard it frequently in a local restaurant.

  • @SteelsammyFilms Interesting.

  • @LordWellington15 But I did listen to it a lot in LA Noire

  • @LordWellington15 I first heard it on a car radio in the late 90's.

  • @LordWellington15 course ever heard of HANK Willliams III

  • @LordWellington15 - yep, from George Thorogood's version . Nothing beats the original though ;)

  • Country music died over 25 yrs. ago!

  • @Upcamehill Is that meant to be a compliment or an insult to Hank Sr.?

  • @DrFrohman That's meant to be a compliment, not only to Hank, Sr. but to all country musicians whose music went out of style since the city slick crap came into style with Nashville and the recording industry.

  • Incredible!

  • Comment removed

  • Priceless

  • i'm not much of a gamer, and its sad that a video game is the only way most of y'all heard this song. Hank Sr. is a legend. you can't say your a country music fan without knowing atleast one Ol Hank song

  • @PMcClatchy Well if you're saying this in regards to my comment, don't worry about that :) I've loved Hank since I was about 9 years old! I was just happy to hear it in a game, and I said, "That's Hank!" And I stopped and listened to the song :) But, with video games, that's the only way kids will hear music like this. If we didn't have video games, or other media devices with classic country in it, how are kids going to find out this great music? It offers the genre to wide variety of kids and.

  • @PMcClatchy I believe that's worth being in a video game! I heard Hank from GTA San Andreas, but also from my grandpa, who use to sing it on the ships headed to Japan and Korea when he was in the Marines in '45-'53. And yes, I agree, you can't be a true country music fan without LOVING one Hank Williams song! He's the King!

  • I liked this song before it was in a fucking video game.
