The point is: first fumble was caused by a tackle by 6'2" 245 lb Caleb McSurdy. Second fumble Landers tackled by about six Griz at once. Third fumble on kickoff ball clearly knocked out of hand (stripped) & recovered by Fetherston. That's all in the first three quarters. If it wasn't for the bad snap on a punting situation for a safety, that after the Griz stopped JMU on a fourth & goal, the game wouldn't have been as close as the score indicated.

Are you serious?! Both type of offenses are affected equally?? UM was a passing offense and JMU was a running offense, hence, the affect on UM's offense was much more significant. Even the ESPN announcers talked about the difference it made. On one play, a missed field goal, the UM holder even pulled up a 3ft square of sod with the plastic netting attached after the missed kick just to show the refs how bad it was. UM was robbed!!!

All we did was pass and they obviously studied our fav routes because they jumped them 3 times! Add in a fumble, a missed FG, no running = loss.

Both defenses played very poorly. If JMU hadn't turned the ball over so much the game probably would have ended up being a shoot out since neither defense was able to accomplish anything.

The point is JMU didn't play their best game, and made many uncharacteristic mistakes (4 turnovers doesn't happen often with the Dukes). And of those turnovers, there was only one that was really forced by the Griz; the impressive interception near the endzone. And even with the four turnovers and the best player being out of the game, JMU still managed to almost rally a comeback. It'd be interesting to see a best of 7 series between the two.

I really don't understand all the hostility. Montana played well and JMU turned the ball over and thus Montana won. I was at this game and at the championship in 2004, and had nothing but positive experiences with the Montana fans.

Bottomline is the FCS playoffs determine a legitimate champion unlike the bullshit BCS system. The best teams went to the finals in 2004, and the better team won (GO DUKES). And the best teams went to the final this year, and the best team won.
