Great review- all the first half of the video I was thinking that from what you described, you MUST have gotten a wrong match! It happened to me too. You really do need a good undertone match in this one, or it will go super blotchy. I absolutely love it now that I match it properly
I HATE this foundation: streaky/ hard to blend, emphasized my pores and cakey on me! I was able to try this for 4 days. I appied it in different ways and nothing worked. I am so happy I got a sample and didn't purchase it. I did go back to see if there was a better color for me, but the colors are so limited. Buyer Beware don't believe all the hype on this foundation on YouTube b/c it didn't work for me. Love ya Lisa for always being so honest!
@ThePinkChilli The MAC has lots of shimmer to it and the NARS although it is called Sheer Glow does not have shimmer and has a great finish- I would suggest NARS over the MAC one!
@Lisasz09 : That's really interesting. Thanks for taking the time to respond Lisa. I know it must be hard considering how many comments you get per video! :)
Hi Lisa, I was wondering which do you like better... the dior nude or the nars sheer glow? I wanted to purchase either one since they seem pretty similar. But I don't know which one to get. Can you please help me out? Thank you =)
Lisa, i wear this in fiji but it matches my face and i dont think it matches my neck and rest of my body....so i feel like i look a bit ghostly..i have a feeling im in punjab just b/c ive actually recdieeved 2 different shade opinions by 2 diff nars sales associate. could i ask, what shade in mac are you ? so i can refer to =)
@BaaabyTi hey....dropping in hoping to help....I STRONGLY suggest that u do not purchase punjab shade if at present u r using Fiji....Because these two colours are WAY APART from each other in the spectrum.....Instead try ceylan or santa fe...Am sure it wud work with u
@grewaljassu thanks, but i acutlaly did exchange fiji for punjab and it was definately the better match. out of all shades i have ever tried in this world, it is literally THE perfect match for me. fiji was definately way off. the girl got it all wrong. good thing i knew enough to exchange! lol.
I just got this foundation. The girl I was talking to at the store suggested applying it with your fingers because it warms up the product and will apply better. It seems to be working well.
I really want to try this foundation but I don't have anywhere that sells NARS near me, so my only option is to buy it off the internet. I'm NC25, any idea what colour I should go for?
Also, I saw a dramatic difference from the 1st review to the second, your skin looked so much better in the 2nd review! :0)
@ShopaholicWithNoCash gosh i am not sure- it depends on your undertone- if you are a yeloow undertone I would say Punjab- since t hat is what I wear but if you are more pink I am not sure! Sorry!
I got a sample from sephora...love how lightweight it is but I'm totally not in love with it especially for the price. Also, I was in the fitting room and I notice the makeup comes off too easily as I was trying on shirts! I will stick to my MUFE Mat =)
I've had a hell of a time finding my color match! They matched me as Cylan as well, and I ended up with Santa Fe which hopefully work out better. Punjab to yellow for me, I'm an NW20. Thanks for this video, people should be warned!
Hi Lisa, I bought nars sheer glow about 2 weeks ago in the colour punjab and i do not like it. I feel like it doesn't go with my skin. I am a NC35 with mac products, what would you suggest me to exchange it for? I have heard so many good reviews and I want to like it but hmmm.....
@analemus Hi Analemus i am NW25 and my color is SAnta Fe the color that you picked is not right for you ! check santa Fe or the next one i think is Barcelona hope this helps !
Honestly, I did not fall in love with this foundation either. It is a nice product, but it kinda "slides" down my face and it never feels like it buffs all the way in my skin.
Hi Lisa! Thanks for doing this review. I honestly thought I would like this foundation,BUT the first time I was color matched (Deauville) I knew it was just not right but the MUA insisted. It just looked ashy and super streaky! Anhow, I went to another store and the MUA color matched me (Fiji). It was better however it still streaks and does not look great. I am debating which color I should try next. Any suggestions?
@ammurati I have also learned that this foundation is made to be applied with your fingers- it warms the product up and reduces the streaking- I am not sure if that will help but I hope it does! Good Luck!
my first color was mont blanc and i hate it!! now i have deauville and - i love it!but, not the best foundation ever.i prefer the armani silk .for me the best foundation.
Thanks for the review! I really like this foundation but I find it to be a bit drying on me. I would love to try the Shiseido Sun Protection though! I know you don't have dry skin but is that one slightly less drying than this formula or just the opposite?
great review, when i brought this foundation the MUA applied it with his fingers, he said to warm it up and then apply with your fingers and that this was the best way to apply this foundation for the best finish and he was absolutly correct, I have found that the foundation goes on brilliantly with my fingers rather than any sort of brush :) hope this helps
have you tried applying the nars sheer glow with the sephora 55 airbrush? thats what i used and it goes on flawless. i honestly think the nars sheer glow looks best on you.
yeah! im glad you like it bc thats my fav foundation and it work swell if you apply it with your fingers. im the same color, I was getting worried when I seen the first part of the video lol im glad you gave it a second chance
Can you please tell me what do you think of Bobby brown corrector i have somewhar dark cirlcles but I cant find anything that works, so now I thinking of the BB corrector. please help, thanks
what would be a good powder to set this with? On the nars website they have a powder foundation. Would that work? Or a clinique one? I just need something that is more on the cheaper side. The nars powder is kind of expensive
Lisa--I've been wanting to try the sheer glow but I have combination/oily skin, right now it's a bit dry bc of the winter. On the website for NARS it says this foundation is best for normal to dry skin... do you recommend this product for my skin type over the Chanel Pro Lumiere?? Thanks :)
I personally find this foundation applies like a dream with just my fingers. Sometimes less "tools" are better. Just my opinion. I love this foundation. For color reference I'm NC30 and Santa Fe is a perfect match for me. I finish it off with a little Prep + Prime translucent powder.
Hey Lisa, I hate to keep bothering you but I just noticed that you've been wearing the NARS primer alot, are you wearing the one in the white bottle or the one in the black? Also... are you going to do a review on it because I can't seem to find one from you about this product yet. Thank you!
I believe the amounts for my area were first said to be 6-10 inches. Now I believe it is anywhere up to 16 inches. Then we are suppose to have 30-35 mph winds tomorrow along with temps dropping..Ugggh & Brrrr. : )
Atleast I will get exersize shoveling..LOL! Then there is always Youtube (YAY) and right now I am making a huge pot of chicken corn noodle soup...so much for the exercize..LOL!!
I am pretty much a liquid foundation virgin lol and I'm 24!! I just feel inadequate when applying it, and am afraid it will come out blotchy, etc!! I do have the Bobbi Brown Foundation and I had it applied at a Salon/Spa, and LOVED the finish, but now am afraid to try to re-create it at home! I have the complete Sigma Brush set so thats not an issue, just the technique!! Help lol. Great Videos btw!!
I am a mua & and so when I read this comment I thought I could help. To apply your foundation use the ss187, start in the middle of your face and work your way out stippling it (tapping) on & then buffing it in on the outer edges of your face. Start off with a small amount of foundation & then build it up where it's needed. Lightly tap your face with your fingers if needed to work it into your skin, Also apply your concealer after the foundation so you avoid putting 2 much on.
The SS190 works better for thicker foundation Like MUFE matte velvet+ or MAC studio sculpt foundation. So I would use the SS187 or buy Sigmas new flat top buffer brush. It's the brush I use everyday. You use it the same way as the 187 but after you stipple it on then you buff it into your shin and with that brush you cant go wrong. I do have a video here on YT showing how to apply foundation. I really hope this helps you. Have a great day =)
(Out of context) Hi Lisa, I was hoping you could tell me weather you've ever tried Revlon Photo Ready foundation, and if so, what is your take on the product? If not, would there be a way to squeeze in a review? Thanx! I like what you do =)
Thanks soo much for this video, I have the same problem with this product and just like you I tried everything to make this product to work! Well Im off back to Nars to change colours!!!! thanks heaps!!!!!
Im really really pale, MAC NC15 is to dark for me. I dont know what foundation to try, I also need high coverage! Do you have any suggestions. Ps you are really great and have a review on like evvvverything so helpful! xoxo
Great review! I'm like you...I love trying out different foundations and finding new ones that work for me :D The Punjab looks great on you!! Thanks for sharing this :D
Thanks so much, Lisa. I'd say I'm normal to oily but only through the t-zone. I just always see Pixiwoo reaching for Pro Lumiere and Sam's the same skin color as I. I just know NARS is slightly cheaper, and I've heard great things on both. I think I'll try the NARS first because of price. Thank you for your help with color, too, I am really fair so I'll keep what you said in mind. Much appreciated, Lisa!
Thanks Lisa, I think I'll try it. Do you think it's necessary to set it with powder? Also, does it run light or dark? In other words, if I'm debating on color, should I go for the lighter of the two or the darker of the two? Thanks for responding : ) such a thorough review on every product
I dont think you need to set it with a powder unless you get oily. It is hard to say how it runs- I would say it looks darker in the container than on the skin. I hope this helps you!
Hey Lisa. what primer are you using? make sure that its water based because the product is water based... It will go on streaky if you are using a silicone based primer...it just gets too thick?? if you might say. use it with the nars primer and see what you think.... ;)
I totally agree! I use Estee Lauder Double Wear and it is just the best in my opinion. I just bought the Sheer Glow in Sante Fe and I like it and I'll definitely use it but it doesn't compare to Estee Lauder.
@Lisasz09 I agree with Kltwig and griff2020 Estee Lauder Double Wear is great but it has a white cast in photo's due to the high SPF in it. Their Double Wear light slightly less heavy and overall is insanely amazing! oh... and doesn't give the white cast.
I have the foundation too. I am not sure I got the right colour match. I got Mont Blanc, the web page says it's for pink undertones. Although my face is naturally kinda red, I am more of a yellow tone. Not sure what to do.
In general I think it's a lovely product though. I love the finish, although I find it's a tat too easy to overdo it. The NARS girl said to apply with fingers but I don't like the finish and it waists product. I use an SS 187 and love the finish. I wish it longer lasting.
@spitzmaus1979 I had a problem finding a color match also. Mont blanc worked for me only if I sheered it out with a very damp sponge. Otherwise its slightly too dark/pink. I also tried the shade lighter (Siberia), which was way too yellow. Bummer bc I really liked the finish this product gives but I return it due to color issues.
NARS makeup artist told me that this product was made to be applied with fingers; fingers are supposed to warm up and melt-blend this product. she also told me if i really want to use brush to apply, apply with fingers initially to warm up the product and use brush to blend out the rest:)
i am punjab as well...the color match is pretty phenomenal where as shiseido's colors are too yellow =( although i love the color range for nars sheer glow..i hate it on my dry combo skin because no matter how much i moisturize the sheer glow just seems to accentuate those very dry areas.
You look absolutely gorgeous here!

Much appreciated, Lisa!

let me know how it works for you! I really love it!

not sure if this is a response to my comment but I will definitely write back and let you know! Thank you, Lisa!
kimberlysue2287 2 years ago
Thanks Lisa, I think I'll try it. Do you think it's necessary to set it with powder? Also, does it run light or dark? In other words, if I'm debating on color, should I go for the lighter of the two or the darker of the two? Thanks for responding : ) such a thorough review on every product
kimberlysue2287 2 years ago
I dont think you need to set it with a powder unless you get oily. It is hard to say how it runs- I would say it looks darker in the container than on the skin. I hope this helps you!
Lisasz09 2 years ago
If I am debating on Chanel Pro Lumiere or Nars Sheer Glow, do you suggest Pro Lumiere?
kimberlysue2287 2 years ago
ohhh that is a hard one- what is your skin type first? if you are oil I would say the NARS if youa re dry I would say the Chanel!

Hey Lisa. what primer are you using? make sure that its water based because the product is water based... It will go on streaky if you are using a silicone based primer...it just gets too thick?? if you might say. use it with the nars primer and see what you think.... ;)
tonyacr 2 years ago
thanks for the tip- I dont usually use silicone primers since they tend to break me out! :o(
Lisasz09 2 years ago
Is smashbox a silicone primer? Also, Lisa what is your favorite primer? Thanks so much!!!
macyrae81 1 year ago
@macyrae81 yes it is a silicone one- I am LOVING the sephora smoothing primer! :o)

Does Punjab look good on Fair Skin?
freestylee19 2 years ago
I am a NW30 in mac and a light color by them is a 15- so it depends on what color fair skin you have. You should get color matched!

SInce you are a foundation fan...have youever tried Estee Lauder Double Wear? I have tried Chanel, Dior, Lancome, MUFE. It is the only one for me.
klotwig1 2 years ago
I totally agree! I use Estee Lauder Double Wear and it is just the best in my opinion. I just bought the Sheer Glow in Sante Fe and I like it and I'll definitely use it but it doesn't compare to Estee Lauder.
griff2020 2 years ago
I will have to give it a try!
Lisasz09 2 years ago
no I havent tried it yet!
Lisasz09 2 years ago

I wish it longer lasting.
spitzmaus1979 2 years ago
@spitzmaus1979 I had a problem finding a color match also. Mont blanc worked for me only if I sheered it out with a very damp sponge. Otherwise its slightly too dark/pink. I also tried the shade lighter (Siberia), which was way too yellow. Bummer bc I really liked the finish this product gives but I return it due to color issues.
I'm a sad girl now :( lol
bluflavorice 2 years ago
youre supposed to apply it with your fingers to warm it
pinkpowerranger808 2 years ago
NARS makeup artist told me that this product was made to be applied with fingers; fingers are supposed to warm up and melt-blend this product. she also told me if i really want to use brush to apply, apply with fingers initially to warm up the product and use brush to blend out the rest:)

Sie hat Shiseido richtig gesagt!
Pescaicho 2 years ago
i am punjab as well...the color match is pretty phenomenal where as shiseido's colors are too yellow =( although i love the color range for nars sheer glow..i hate it on my dry combo skin because no matter how much i moisturize the sheer glow just seems to accentuate those very dry areas.

What would be your recommendation out of the Nars Sheer Glow and the Chanel Prolumier?
whitalisci0us 2 years ago
ohhh that is hard- they are very close for me- so it would depend which has the right color for you!
