The Greeks moved to the south, the Turks to the north. This was the price of peace, which we have had since the intervention of 1974.

On one hand you recognise that murder of the Turks in Cyprus, then you go on to say it was not genocide. Well a mass killing of a ethnic/cultural/religious group is considered a genocide.
The Greeks moved to the south, the Turks to the north. This was the price of peace, which we have had since the intervention of 1974.

Why didn't you mention nothing about 400 years of slavery by the Ottoman empire and the crimes your country commited durring those 4 centuries?

Could you provide evidence for your claims?
Even western scholers note that it was the Venetians that oppresed the Greeks due to their belief in Christian Orthodoxy. The Ottomans respected the belief and culture of all its people (not only on the island). Please do some research on the issue before making dangerous claims.

Forget what you tought at school for a while and think. Why to do that? Do you believe that Greeks and other nations volunteered to become part of your empire? after the ottomans took over,the greeks went from 80000 to 50000 through the early years the ottoman army massacred greeks,venitions,then due to unfair tax alot of greeks became muslim,so did the venitions at louroujena,after that the ottomans let the orthodox church look after its own people,giving them a certain autonomy.

The root of Cyprus's problems are not colonial favoritism of Turks nor a Turkish "invasion" in 1974, but rather a lack of tolerance by Greek Cypriots for the very existence of Turkish Cypriots living on the island and a disdain for granting them any kind of fundamental human rights.

An example of discrimination against the Turkish Cypriots is the case of 27 May 1912. Greeks repeatedly attacked on Turkish parts of Limassol, stormed the Mosques; beat and killed the Turks in shops and at the fair; destroyed and plundered Turkish properties all in the name of ENOSIS.
The barbaric act of the ENOSIS movement was so bad that it pressed the British to call for reinforcements from Egypt.
Proof that a militant ENOSIS movement started way before 63'. That is the reason for TMT.

TMT was created as a counter to the militant ENOSIS (Union with Greece) movement. The solution to stop the massacres against the Turks was to divide the island, this is not a secret nor is it something to be ashamed of since the division of the island has stopped the bloodshed since 1974.

In the summer of 1570, the Turks attacked Cyprus with a full-scale invasion. A fleet commanded by Piyale Pasha carried about 60,000 troops, including cavalry and artillery under the command of Lala Kara Mustafa Pasha, to the island and landed unopposed near Limassol on July 2, 1570, laying siege to Nicosia. The city fell (September 9, 1570), 20,000 Nicosian Greeks were put to death, and every church, public building, and palace was looted. That is a massacre my friend.
