@farlcoon no, in normal tv we beep it out, and in awards shows the streaming of the video is delayed a few seconds so they can push a button to bleep it out incase one slips (which is rather tricky), but the beauty of SNL is that they can't do that because it is one of the few shows that is 100% live, which makes it all the more interesting!!! :) It's really funny when someone messes up like Slate did!!!

The FCC can't fine this because indecency is legally allowed on broadcast TV between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. As far as the federal government is concerned, after 10 p.m. NBC could air anything that would be legal in a movie. NBC standards do not allow it only because of advertisers' and affiliates' expectations.

it was not an FCC violation. Even if it were it would not be a fine against SNL, Jenny Slate, or even NBC. The fines would go to the local affiliates that broadcast it publicly. AS i understand it NBC sends the feed to the affiliates and they broadcast it.

Most people have a delay. I think the skit was designed to have someone fumble, though it did seem like they fumbled at an unexpected part. Of course she shouldn't be fired and SNL shouldn't be fined. The FCC is so freaking hypersensitive. It annoys the crap out of me. We shouldn't need the FCC at all. It's in the responsibility of the parents to decide what their kids watch, and if you are letting you kids watch a show then you shouldn't be outraged or surprised when something like this happens. And it's not like they aren't going to here that word in life. A six year old shouldn't be watching SNL.

it was not an FCC violation. Even if it were it would not be a fine against SNL, Jenny Slate, or even NBC. The fines would go to the local affiliates that broadcast it publicly. AS i understand it NBC sends the feed to the affiliates and they broadcast it.

Most people have a delay. I think the skit was designed to have someone fumble, though it did seem like they fumbled at an unexpected part.
