you could just have exchanged that place were u switch with a more stealthy one. for example you show them theur ace you switched openly as being put on top of the deck. then you attain their attention with eye contact or if youre rly pro you wont even need it, you do a palm switch. not palming, palm switch (the one you use for transforming red aces into black ones if you know what i mean) and at that point the king will be on top. the switch u use is hard to do when there are more than 1 specs

A lot of people say they can obviously see the "top change" where he switches the Ace of spades for the card on top. Ways to get around that are to have the deck at waist level and off to the side (if your standing) and to keep eye contact with the spectator because when you look them dead in the eye the will most likely keep the eye contact and u can execute the "top change" without anyone spotting it. It is also important while making eye contact u should also be talking about the trick.
