A #1 hit for Fred Wesley and The J.B.'s on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 271st #1 R&B song of the Rock Era. It also hit #22 on the Top 40 charts.
My goodness can Fred play that horn or what? This was a burner even if James Brown were not fronting it!! These guys could still burn up the turntables!!!! One of many that the band did with and without JB!! Dudes were on it!!!!!!
WE GONNA HAVE A FUNKY GOOD TIME!!! MAN, This song reminds me of my parents partying in the living room with their friends and us kids partying in the basement with our cousins and friends, to the same music they were playing and dancing too!! Really good childhood memories!!
I was a high school senior in 73' . This song was/is the stuff. We used to jam out on this. That trombone solo was the benchmark for all trombone players back in the day. James Brown- Rhythmic Genius!!!!!
@uryic000 >Hey friend! I graduated in the 70's as well and so did my two brothers and me and my friends used to have house party's and we would jam to this and all of James Brown and his exxtended crew! I grew up in NY on Long Island but we woudl all go to The Bronx on the weekends and party with our cousins! James Brown was a definite MUST HAVE! My kids love these jams and I feel sorry for kids today because they do not know what real soul music is! They hear samples but this is the real deal!
un saludo a todos los seguidores de JB desde coatzacoalcos, ver. èsta rola la bailamos un ching y un monton de veces alla por los 60^s eramos estudiantes de la secundaria. que tiempos señores. un abrazo a todos los compas del globo terraqueo

Anyone else hearing some Jimi Hendrix influences here? Izabella, if I recall right, was the name of Hendrix's tune.
Still, funky as HELL!
