Well at first when I saw you didnt have a slide I was thinking "ah fuck, dont even bother man" and I was about to close the window when you started playing....
holy shit mate! 5*
that was a mean mean rendition man. Cool to see people having a go with their own approach rather than trying to duplicate.
man!! sick!! You DEFINITELY have to get you a slide bro, even though you said you hadn't gotten it down. Get you them dvd's by Bob Brozman and watch some vids on youtube and you'll be set. I think you'd LOVE playing slide once you get the hang of it man.....and i'd love hearing your rock the hell out with it!! keep jammin bro. you are inspiring others of us out here to keep doing the same ;)
Thanks, man, it's tought for me to know what to say in the face of such compliments... but if I am inspiring others than I am doing the best good I can do in the world. Thanks!
Wow, you are incredible. How many fingers do you have? And boy do they fly. You got some cool blues going on. Great performance. Thx. Will you do your own version of Willie Nelson's song A Peaceful Solution in your own style? Love to feature you on Willie's Peace site. Liz
Hey, thanks... I'd love to contribute something to Willie's site. I'm getting set to go out of town for a few weeks, but if the offer's still open when I get back, sure! And thanks for the kind words!
Trust me, I only share what I believe to be exceptional. You are truly talented, and your performances are honest, whcih is what I appreciate the most.
That's quite a compliment - thanks a lot, man. Keep watching, I think in the next few weeks I'm finally going to have some time to start posting new stuff again.
Hmm, well, if you want, pick something of mine or point me to the sort of thing yo uwant and maybe I can lay down something instrumental for you to use.
Thanks for commenting... Funny, you're the second person in 24 hours to mention something like that. I think over time I unintentionally drifted into playing it as something a little more textural, I don't emphasize the individual notes so much anymore. I'm going to have to play around with it and decide how I like it best.
Hey, thanks man! I've got a version I like even better that just needs a little cleanup, probably have it up in the next couple of weeks, but appreciate the compliment! This is one of my fav tunes to play.
Thanks, s2c, coming from you, that's a compliment. Been enjoying seeing you pop up in collaborations lately, BTW - stumbled on "Give Peace A Chance" vid today. Fun stuff!
As to the speed - thanks for the compliment, I have a few tricks I use to make things sound fast... open-string pulloffs and left-hand palm muting give the whole thing a sense of motion disproportionate to the effort it actually takes.
WOW. I actually told my friends you said that, thanks!
I do have it in the back of my head to do an instructional video, but it's a matter of time. Actually a lot of the stuff I post I recorded months ago and am only getting around to uploading now... YouTube is another willing complication in a very busy life. So I'll probably get an instructional thing up there, but it may be a while.
I havnt tried open g tuning yet but il be sure to check it out soon. it just sounds pretty scary coz i havnt been playin all that long and am realy used to standard tuning
To tune, drop your high and low E strings to D, and your A to G, so instead of EADGBE you have DGDGBE. Then play around on the open strings, 3rd and 5th frets and everything will begin to fall into place.
There a lot of helpful videos if you search youtube for "open G".
hahaha this is dang sweet
