It seems that there is something wrong with the "random access program" as the tonearm was not able to land on the selected track. Almost all important manufacturers offered a linear tracking turntable with these features in the 80's. I have a Kenwood KD-75F that is similar to this Sansui ( BTW I also am in search of the manual.
The problem may be that the sensitivity of the sensor is not set correctly for the record.
There is a selector switch somewhere on the player for selecting the degree of sensitivity.
For instance, maximum sensitivity is appropriate for records that have high groove density and a lot of bands where the spacing between the bands may be very narrow.
In addition, the random access system must scan the entire side to count the bands first before it can play the band as commanded by the user.
i hate linear tracking turntables. But only because I'm so incredibly impatient, that I would hate to have to push a button and have the tonearm slooowly move around, than to just lift it with my thumb and place it right where I want it.
I have found someone who have it in Canada! But it's not free unfortunately! Your manual costs $14.99 CAN. I have found it through a vintage audio specialized website Canuck Audio Mart. The seller has a huge inventary of service manuals, owner's manuals, catalogs and other documents related to vintage audio. If you are interested, send me an e-mail and I will send you the link to this page and this seller!
The "Random Access Program" buttons constitute the computer keybord of this turntable and you can program the track seeking or the scanning system of your turntable by entering positions of your tracks but I don't know how it can be made! - I have an ADC black linear tracking turntable near mint but it has only scanning buttons not programmable. I recommend you to get the owner's manual of your turntable at the manual paradise website or other online manual distributor to learn it!
yeah i was going to look for the manual and i never got around to it.
and your right sansui did make some nice electronics. I recently found a transaudio 5502 receiver on the curb and the turntable sounds perfect through it.
( the records called mystic moods orchestra : nighttide. apparently its from 1978)
For me, the tone-arm doesn't want to move over the record for me. It'll move to right outside where the record is, and won't go any further. It's a pioneer PL-L30, I also have no idea how to change the tonearm belt. I don't know how to get inside there.
im not 100 percent sure on how to change the belt. im not 100% familliar with these machines. If its anything like the sansui, i suggest looking for screws on the top of the unit first (around the tone arm, etc) and then on the bottom so you can remove the cover. just be careful and dont force anything.
