Over a billion people around the world still have to live under Communist regimes. I don't think its exactly "dead" yet...but its certainly in the dying stages.
you're welcome!!! Well China is CINO, Communist in Name Only....If anything it's transitioned to an ultra-nationalistic authoritarian state with a neo-mercantilist economy.
China's economically capitalist now, but politically its still Communist. There's still one-party rule, Party cadres are still trained extensively in Marxism-Leninism, and Mao Tse-Tung is praised as "70% good". Of course, you're right about the authoritarian aspects, but this was true of all the Eastern Bloc states as well. Whenever its put into practice Communism seems to become authoritarian and brutal.
Well it's hard to put China under a category because there's so many contradictions. China is capitalist when it comes to the coastal provinces and cities like Shanghai and Hong Kong. However when it comes to the provinces in the interior, it's far more command-oriented.
Well communism can go beyond authoritarianism. In it's most extreme form, communism is totalitarianism. Look at China under Mao and USSR under Stalin. But agreed on your larger point.
AHA! I was getting to those. Cuba is still nominaly one, true. So is Laos. Vietnam is opening up her economy. NK is Juche, well beyond Stalinist. NK is freaking crazy.
Thank God, it's dead.

Also China's not the only remaining Communist state. Cuba and North Korea, and to a certain extent Vietnam, are still Communist
