How to bring the Hartford Whalers back!

I am from CT. We'd love to have the Whalers back SOOOO bad, but unless they destroy the XL center and build an up to date arena it just won't happen. the NHL has already stated in the past that they do not want to come back here due to a lack of a good arena. If they did come back we would have the shittiest home arena in the league.

Nordiques and Whalers need to come back. I don't think certain cities should have the teams. You can't say they don't deserve them, I do hate to start something, but Florida Panthers and Columbus should be the teams to leave, simply based on team success in franchise history.

first of all hartford city needs to redo or knock down and build a new arena in place of the 36 year old XL center, then the NHL/NBA(possibly) will be interested in bringing a team here

winnipeg is going to get the next team and then Quebec, Hamilton has a better chance then hartford at this point

Necessities for a team:

1. Use XL Center temporarily while a new arena is built

2. Some sort of return campaign. The Winnipeg Jets have a wildly successful one including campaign nights and giveaways at Moose games. Hartford should try that with the Wolf Pack.

3. Corporate Support

Atlanta is on its last legs and Phoenix is likely moving to Winnipeg for 2011-12. Without Atlanta, Florida and TB would be on life support and woould likely move.

I don't buy the fact that if the petition gets X amount of signatures the NHL would approve. The real hope is for a team to relocate. In the current state, a new team isn't going to happen. If anything the NHL needs to get rid of a few teams.
