  • Shit

  • "...................."

  • wow you lucky son of a gun getting all these views for such a pointless video! come on now...

  • thanks for the website... its help me, im considering going clipless, and i need some info about it. and then i found your vid. which is awesome

  • wtf

  • @surfstrate People think the first time in clipless means crash....... so the reaon is, people want to watch someone bust.

  • its cause i remember doing this my first time! I fell off!

  • do something better: die bastard¡¡¡

  • @surfstrate darned if I know! I just put it up for a laugh. But obviously there are lots of people who are considering going clipless and are looking for info about that. Not sure what they can take from this though, lol!

Anyway, now I have actually adjusted the darn things and been riding SPD for about 3 years I would never go back. But when you try something new you don't know what you're doing.

  • @markowe why was it sore? did that pass

  • drop your heel back, and twist with the heel then it should be alot easier :)

  • Mate - is this a joke?

  • because this isn't pathetic.......

  • I hate clipless pedals. Flat pedals are the only way to go!!!

then again, this might be because i only ride DJ DH and FR

  • I definately heard clicking so how are they clipless?

  • @coffeethen CLIPless not CLICKless :)

  • @markowe I see. So the thing you CLICK into isn't a CLIP, its a CLEAT?

  • @coffeethen I wouldn't get hung up on the terminology too much, but the CLEAT is the little plate that is bolted to your cycle shoe and that CLICKS or CLIPS into, well... I don't think there's really a word for that, it's the SPD mechanism on the pedal.

  • @markowe Check the wikipedia or sheldon browns website for an explanation. It has to do with the original terminology for cages. Pretty interesting if you are into that sort of thing. Peae

  • @markowe It's called clipless because a "clip" is a toe clip (also called a cage nowadays). They are safer and you are able to get out of them easier if you crash.

  • @coffeethen dumbass.

  • @coffeethen The clip in "clipless" refers to the old fashion toe clips that road cyclists used to use, so these pedals don't use toe clips, hence "clipless"

  • @coffeethen They're called clipless because they lack toe clips.

  • @coffeethen Back in the day when you put your toes into a little cage on the peddles, that cage was called a clip. So a clipless peddle system doesn't have that toe cage and instead the shoes clip onto the peddle. Make sense?

  • lol

  • used them for the first time today and fell sideways when trying to open a gate. was at the top of a massive ascent and I was so tired I just forgot I was using them. I now have two elbows....on the same arm

  • time pedals are the best. 1.) you dont come unclipped ever for racing. 2.) they are easy on ur ankles and knees.

  • Why are you saying ouch?

  • This pedal "security system" scares me.

    :))

  • good!

  • ???? O_O

  • Not sure if there is anything different about those cycling disciplines, but again, I couldn't ride without them now. I sometimes unclip when going down a technical descent or something, but actually that's a bad move, you're safer clipped in in most situations.

  • ah i just got a set of clipless pedals for my bike. i race bmx and 4x on my mtb and i thought it would help my gates and performance. nervous to be locked in though

  • @hayden33533 just got em for DH. im very scared.. dont know whats gonna happen. or how the hell to clip them in

  • I can't wait to get clipless peddles for my road bike! Every body has been impressed that I can keep up with people that are using clipless. I can't wait for the performance increase!

  • @forrest225 You wrote this a year ago, I just brought a pair and have not used them yet, I am apprehensive, and am wondering how you feel about them one year on?

  • @nyBrit I like them a lot! The best thing to do is pick a foot you will always put down when you need to stop, and get used to removing that foot.

It will take a while to get used to it, but when you do, it's definitely possible to ride faster and a bit smoother. Instead of pumping your feet up and down you do more of a continuous circle motion, where you are always using both feet to move the bike.

  • @forrest225 Thanks I have had a lot of problems matching shoes to pedals and was wondering if it was all worth it. j I did not use them today, I was afraid of problems, but I will try them during the week, when I do my shorter rides.

  • @nyBrit Also, it makes it easier to ride standing up. Before I felt insecure standing up on my roadbike, but now it doesn't phase me because I know my feet are attached :)

  • just bought egg beaters yesterday, so cool

  • Crank Bros type? I guess that's the next step. Recently though, I put on full SPDs - can't believe I rode on those combo pedals for so long, ha ha!

I can see the advantage of the egg-beaters though, I do some racing and I often find myself losing time cos I'm fumbling around trying to get clipped in. Well, one step at a time..!

  • Haha. I used to have a little trouble with it. But I had LOOK type road pedals. Upgrading to clipless is probably the best thing you could do to your bike and a low cost.

  • Agree - I have come a LONG way from this video! What can I say except, I couldn't go back to not being clipless.

  • dud i got clipless today and went riding no problem at all it just came natruly. but i did use the traps until today wich probly helped for the twisting motion.

  • Ha, this was over a year ago. I can now say that things have got much better! Yes, I loosened the tension, but also spent a lot of time riding them and gradually got used to being clipped in. I still get a LITTLE bit wary when going over some tricky obstacles - I'd rather do them unclipped so I can quickly bail. But for everything else, I don't know how I'd ride without them now, and may even go to full SPDs soon, cos I don't seem to need the SPD/platform combo.

  • Ive been riding on SPD for few years and I also had such problems but now I do everything automaticly and don't think about it a lot, its a much better riding with SPD

  • I pretty much did the same thing for a hour in my garage until I fell over.

  • i had to get used to this :]

  • GT triple triangle ftw

  • if u cant get get out easily, adjust the tension in the pedals, especially with mountain biking
