His passing was a huge tragedy for both music and in general. Liz- this is an amazing tribute, thank you for posting this. I am glad to know you even if it's only on the internet, Peter Steel totally deserves a tribute like this and I am sure he would have been very much touched if he were to have seen this tribute by you.

The entire band is really nice, but Johnny Kelly may be the nicest musician I've ever met. When I met the band after a show he was shaking everyone's hand and thanking them for showing up. He also said to me when I gave him my copy of the then brand new Least Worst Of, "Thank you for supporting the band". I've never had a musician ever say that to me before or since.

Pete was a really nice guy. I met him before and even when he was drunk he was very kind to his fans. There are plenty of musicians who aren't when sober, but Pete was in the same class as Dimebag Darrell, kind to every fan that came up to them and would give them the shirt off of their back. Both are also the only musicians I ever shed a tear over when I heard they passed away.
