@richpin06a Cool, thanks. I ask because on the 96, you had to insert some two pronged tool and turn it to compress the piston. Broke a C-Clamp before figuring it out and wasn't sure if Cadillac kept doing that.
@clavo420 If the parking brake uses the caliper piston for the parking brake you need the special tool to spin the piston back in the bore when changing pads.

are the rear pads the same size as the front pads on the 2004 cts 3.6l?

I want to know about the Rear brakes. Is it the same? I know in my 96' STS i needed a special tool to compress the caliper piston.

Rather than caliper grease I might use some brake anti-squeal compound on the caliper pucks and on the outside pad backing plate.
