  • And if you believe that most Americans are complete brain-dead moronic life forms, yes your argument may be applicable.

Do you honestly think people will just take it lying down? The customers are the largest decision makers in the end. Help educate the people instead of blindly accepting government action will solve a problem that "may" happen.

  • What if abusive corporations control FCC just like the Big Pharma (Mafia) controls FDA

Google suppressed (alternative) cures & when healing becomes a crime!

    cheers,

    John

  • The purpose of regulations in a democracy is not to maximize profit for companies but to safeguard the democratic system whilst ensuring a level playing-field for all companies within a certain niche. A country is not more "democratic" because the companies make more money. Regulations is not good or bad just because they are regulations. Regulations are good or bad depending on WHAT they regulate HOW. The US today is dangerously close to a corporatocracy.

  • Corporations are pathetic, They shouldnt even have the right to have more than 1 lawyer! its just stupid

  • net neutrality will improve competition??? are you kidding me? if net neutrality is about allowing more competition, then what we want is deregulation, not more of it. Net neutrality is just a foot in the door for governments to get into our lives. It is logical to think that broadbands are getting over crowded and charging higher premiums will allow future infrastructure to solve the problem.

  • according to a study, the US is 6th in the world in terms of average internet speed at 5Mbps, while South Korea leads the world at 20Mbps. Japan, Sweden, Netherlands, and Germany all lead the US as well. and none of these leading countries' ISP's are violating net neutrality to provide such great service. when ISP's can control websites on the internet like cable companies control channels on TV, that is when the internet will die.

  • Removing the competition to increase bandwidth and accessibility will slow the growth of networks in our country. All new and "better" products fetch a premium when first introduced (to pay for development) and eventually become "common" as the technology progresses to newer and even better products. What... are IPs supposed to provide faster networks even if they can't charge more for them? Why not sit back and let another IP do it and share the bandwidth? NEUTRALITY takes us out of DRIVE!

  • @IMLOL247 thats irrelevant. ISP's were given over 25 billion in tax write offs in the late 90s that they were supposed to invest back into the infrastructure, which most didnt. trying to use the lack of infrastructure now for doing away with net neutrality is bs. and if they use the excuse that they own the pipes, with that kind of money, the pipes are OURS. unless they all want to pay the government back the 25 billion, plus the decade of interest.

  • @Slayer8957 I think Net Neutrality has taken on a host of meanings based on the most recent legislation. This includes: Sharing of bandwidth between IPs, deleterious throttling of bandwidth to particular hosts by IPs, Monitoring of all traffic to ensure neutrality, and prohibiting IPs form offering premium services at increased costs. You are too naive. The government cannot improve any market by meddling. How well did they invest that $25 billion? Get a different IP or start your own.

  • @IMLOL247

it wasnt 25billion, it was $205billion (typo). and the companies didnt get it from the government, they got it directly from the consumers. the government allowed them to overcharge consumers with the promise of providing fiber optic service to every single household, which never happened. verizon and at&t are two of the least trustoworthy telecoms in the us.

    newnetworks. com/ BroadbandScandalIntro. htm

read it and become aware of what these companies are capable of.

  • Market driven forces are always more effective than government control.

  • If you take my free streaming 24/7 porn away you in effect stop the earth revolving, extinguish the sun, bring on the ice age, it'd all be OVER.

  • Net nuetrality is just another doorway for the government to shove itself into the lives of people.

  • Net Neutrality is the human bias of open information and free communication versus the corporate bias of controlled content and taking as much as possible from our pockets.

If this goes to the corporations, the FCC will be exposed as their bitch.

  • Indeed.

The FCC could give a crap about public opinion. Unless it is organised and active the FCC won't do a thing.

  • net neutrality is on shaky ground.

  • Points well made, Derek.
