  • im going to dream about him tonight uuggh his sooo gorgeous....his eyess OMG!!...can't stop watching this part 3:05

  • Darcy you idiot

  • everytime i watch this scene i hope it will end differently.....if only she could reach her head up a little more.....then they could kiss.

  • he was looking at her lips, he was moving forward slowly-he was going to kiss her i swear he was

tbh i dont know why he didnt :S

  • @Charlotte2791 I thought so too, I even hoped so ^ ^! Oh, why didn't he ...

  • you all should watch north and south! trust me.

  • there is no intenisty in this scene. i hate this version so much . no point in making another one

  • @macdahet No intensity? Is that supposed to be a joke? There is NOTHING more intense than this! Its sensational!

  • aww :(:(:( I really LOVE this version, is better even than the book, it has more soul and more sensibility, and the dialogue is incredible, I cry everytime I saw Mr Darcy's face when he's proposing marriage :(

  • Nope, not nearly as good as Colin Firth.

  • Nope, not nearly as good as Collin Firth.

  • I was completely in love with this scene, but then I saw the others, and I kinda realized that they did talk a bit fast. I get that it's supposed to be in anger, but some of the lines seemed a little forced because of it. =S Ah well, still my favourite take on it.

  • 3:33 - 3:47 intense, i love it

  • they talk to fast. 1995 is better!

  • my fav scene of this amazing movie! ..uh I love Keira a the end xD...poor Darcy xD

  • the raining effect added more drama!!

the 1995 and 2005 were great adaptations.... no more no less

  • @lordhades i agree

however, i think they speak their lines faster

but i'm still in love wid this one!!!

  • they talked too fast.

i cannot hear what they re saying :(

  • why is she running over the bridge?

  • its raining

  • i just read this in the book♥ i LOVE IT! and i LOVE the movie<3<3<3<3<3

  • not a fan of the film but i went to the location (Stourhead) yesterday and it is the most beautiful regency landscape garden i have ever seen! very worth a trip to Wiltshire (even though the temple is currently under scaffolding) ^_^

  • my fave scene! <3

  • I like this movie, but I prefer the version of the BBC in 1995 because it is more faithful to the book and the scenes are more compatible with the time of the story.

  • i love this darcy , as much as i adore colin firth i prefer matthews darcy. love this film.

  • LOVED LOVED LOVEEEEEEEEEED ITTTTTTT

  • i love the BBC version as well, but this film is simply my number one favourite film. can't put in words how much i love this film! aaaaaaaaaaah!

  • I'm sure I read or heard somewhere that the reason he talks so quickly is because he has rehearsed what he is going to say and that is why it sounds like he's just reading something. After he's proposed it doesn't sound like he's reading.

Love both the 95 and 05 versions but I think this scene is much better in the new version :) Could be something to do with the almost but not quite kiss bit :P

  • the BBC series is loads better than this film, its not bad, but the series is fantastic and sticks to the book beautifully.( both Darcies are gorgeous though !)

  • The best scene evr!! so romantic!!!

  • I haven't seen the whole of this film just this clip as I was curious how this Darcy differed fromt he 1995 one. I must say I prefer the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice as it sticks closer to the book (why are they outside in the rain here?!) but the guy playing this Darcy (can't remember his name) is more like how I imagined Darcy when I read the book in appearance. But Colin Firth is amazing!!! :) I think they speak so fast to fit the book into a single film, the series is better :)

  • i realy love this seen, the way Mr Darcy is looking ate her in the last minute is just so cute, i can see this peace a million times and never get bored

  • In general I prefer the '95 version for being closer to the book but I think this scene is better in the '05 film.

So much more feeling and passion, especially on Darcy's part.

  • That is true, but this is why I dislike the film. Darcy and Lizzy are both extremely proud and are never this forthcoming in the book. The society they live in would prevent them acting with so much passion, especially when Lizzy gets angry. The character would never get that angry due to the social disgrace it would cause her family if Darcy were to spread what had happened. Lizzys meant to get incredibly angry in this scene but hold herself as best she can, not bare her teeth so aggresively.

  • the best scene, the best place, the best act, the best music in whole movie! I can watch this scene over and over, and NEVER get bored. unbelievable! ps. he is sooo cute. I wish there were some gentlemen out there....

  • I didn't feel anything between those two. Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle are the original Darcey and Lizzy and always will be.

  • Ditto!!

Colin firth actually sounded like he was in love, not reading a script!

and the scene with the lake was the best scene in movie history =D

  • @JacquelyneWilkerson

Well, actually, they aren't. There were other versions before the 1995 version, but I know what you mean.

  • they speak so fast....

  • I know what you mean! it sounds like they spoke and then played it in fast forward. memorized from a script much?

  • i love when he almoust kiss her..it's so .. oh..kiss her please!!!! just one moment! They are so beautifull

  • Its not that bad, it still has the manners of old english

  • i love it how this is at stourhead, i mean i've been there! :D everytime i watch this i'm screaming

" kiss her! for the love of god! "

  • best part of one of the greatest movies made <3

  • this movie rocks!

  • love it ç_ç

  • Sigh. Best scene in any movie, ever. MM is sublime. Just kiss her, for crying out loud!!

  • I want a Darcy for me!!!!

    I love Darcy!!!!

  • I think that this proposal scene is more realistic. The first that the proposal is rehearsed seems realistic, considering how nervious he is.

  • was mr darcy stalking lizzie??

  • yes!after she knows the truth (about MR. BINGLEY) in the curch from MR. DARCY'S COUSIN she runs away upset and he follows her to reveal his feelings.I'M SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH!I'M ITALIAN =D.CHEERS!!

  • 1995 version is better.

  • best scene of the movie I love this darcy.

  • I agree, it is powerful. I love this morvie so much!

  • I'm feel a lot of love in these comments. Glad to see more females endlessly in love with Darcy like I am. I'm young... I have my hopes to find one like this. Lizzie is my idol, she's everything I am and want to be.

  • what would you call the building they're under? a stone gazebo??

  • its my favorite scene, thnx for the video :)

I Love You MR Darcy !!!

  • i love mr darcy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Girls you are gorgeous. I am so glad that we share same thoughts about Mr Darcy, wonderful. Not so glad cause we havent found yet someone like him in reality. ;-)

    Love you!

  • my heart is breaking because my life can't be like that.

why doesn't she just wrap her arms around him and... god i wish i was her.

of course i know why she doesn't accept, but still. its not bloody fair.

  • Where are men like this?

They don't exist. I have given up hope I really have..

    Mr. Darcy I love you!

And 3:45.. OMG. If only I was her.

  • Jane Austen died looking for men like in her novels.. that says a lot!

men like Mr. Darcy doesn't exist! but I still have some hopes..

  • thats not entirely true. apparently she found her own mr. darcy in tom lefroy. just that in her case he wasnt rich and he had family responsibilities which prevented them from being together

  • Favorite scene in the film. ♥

  • Honestly

why cant REAL MEN be like this?!

this guy is gorgeous, i love the moment of his eyes.. his face, his eyes, his voice, lovely Darcyness,

    <3

  • oh man!

    I AM IN LOVE!

    he is gorgeous!

this is my favourite movie EVER!

    thankyou for posting this!!!

    (JUST KISS HER)!

    one of my FAVOURITE scenes.

she does not know how lucky she is!

  • i was watching the bbc episodes and this scene from this movie came to mind. and voila! here it is! i love youtube.

  • At about 3:34 it looks like he wanted to kiss her...I wish he would've.

  • this is one of my favorite parts in the movie. i thought keira knightly did a great job of expressing the anger that jane austen tried to portray in the book. and i love mr. darcy!!!

  • ahhh he's too sweet! who could ever reject him?!

  • It breaks my heart how hurt Mr.Darcy looks at3:30. I would of Kissed him right there and then. :)

    EEEEPP.

    I absolutely love this movie.

  • I couldn't have said no...

He just looked so miserable and adorable D:

  • 3:45 I would have just grabbed his face and begged for him to take me right there.

    Not even lying.

  • In the right circumstances this would be the most wonderful proposal location. At least in my opinion. They both look beautiful in this scene.

  • I think this movie is much better than the BBC Series. I think that Kera Knightly was the perfect Elizabeth Bennet and she and the gentleman who played Darcy(his name escapes me at present) worked magnificantly together.

  • I have read the book! More times than one. I still like the movie better than the series.

  • u can't just watch clips of the movie and then compare it to the book. u have to watch the whole thing, and yeah it doesn't follow the book but it's still one of the sweetest movies i've ever seen.

  • Its the rabid dog, or the exaggerated constipated pout. Take your pick!

  • I have no idea why your comment has been spammed because you are definatly rite lol.

  • Because the 2005 fangirls have no arguments to counter my criticism^^

  • yep- when I saw it it seemed to me the director wanted to direct wuthering heights instead- wrong bronte sister, but still- I agree.

  • i love the movies and the book... I LOVE THEEEEMMM!!!

  • I love this scene of the movie!

  • I love this movie!!LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie!!

  • how in the world can she refuse him i will take him! ahaha <3

  • good that she refuses, so you can take him.. LOL

  • I love how he says Mr.Wickam. HAHAHA.

  • I was thinking the exact same thing! "Mr.Wickham" he says it so fast!

  • so fast it sounds like "mr. wicked"... XD

  • Yeah! Me 2!!

  • ya me too...

  • God I love his eyes. I am gunna marry him someday. He just doesnt know it. But he will.

  • yes for some weird reason i find him very attractive

but when hes with his regular short hair hes not good looking but in this movie hes strikingly handsome

and his accent is just so hot

  • how can that be possible? he has a wife, yah know..ahihihi...

  • I Love His Eyes here. They are just dazzling!

  • Love his eyes 2!!

  • Can you please post the entire movie??? I would LOVE that. Great scene "by the bye"!LOL

  • i darcy`s eyes they look to sexyyy lol = )

  • I enjoyed this version dearly, perhaps it was because of the realistic if not overly romantic settings. :] I suppose that is what this movie is in a sense, overly romantic.

  • god i wish she would just realize that he isnt trying to insult him and that he was just trying to help biingely whyyyyyyy elizabeth why i love you darcy

  • oh dear! I ant a man like him! Such a cutie!

  • aww.. he look so pitiful when she refuse him

  • lovee this scene!!!

  • At 3:35 to 3:41 you can see where they almost kiss. The director actually talks about that part on the DVD commentary.

  • really? i never knew that. i also noticed that part where they seemed like they were going to kiss... but i thought maybe it was unintentional

  • Thank you. Finally someone who has this scene without music over it.

  • if tehy end up working out, why can't jo and teddy work out? You know from little women.

  • This version might be more passionate and romantic, but perhaps a bit too much, too "modern". Darcy and Lizzie only met for several times and did not talk much to each other. Their concept of being "ardently in love" must be quite different from now. People back then didn't have the opportunity to get along with each other a lot to be "deeply in love" in our understanding. But I still love this part.

  • they had more interraction in the book and the old version (the series). the movie was just made more mondern to appeal more to the audience. though i do wish they did film some of the long walks they had...

  • Mr. Darcy needs to slow down.

    just a little.

    it's still good.

    lol

  • I love this scene but where are they? Is that supposed to be someone's house or something? I've never been able to figure it out.

  • I think they are at Lady Catherine's home. Before this scene, Mr.Collins was giving a sermon in his church.

  • this is supposed to be at mr collins and charlotte's house.. not outside in the rain somewhere random.. 1995 version although longer is a lot more correct to jane austen's book than this one..

  • Oh okay because I know that in the book he comes into Mr. Collins' house and nervously proposes to her but since they changed this scene somewhat, I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be the same house. Thanks :D

  • what have they done? its no comparison at all to the televised version of P+P

  • I think MM was portraying Darcy as being nervous, that is why he speaks so fast in the beginning of this scene. I love this scene. It's so romantic. You can feel the tension between them.

  • I dont know... I like his performance... but maybe because I like him first! I think he is a very good look Darcy! :-)

  • I used to watch MI5 or whatever it was called with M/M. Sounds like this "Mr. Darcy" is reading his parts as he speaks. He is no "Mr. Darcy". Please see the 1995 BBC version. Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle are amazing!

  • I love MM as Mr. Darcy. I agree Collin Firth are amazing and plays a better Mr. Darcy, but i prefer MM....

I think he is perfect an very very very handsome!

  • saw both versions actually...i find this Mr. Darcy better than the old one...

  • Sorry for not reply the comments, but i will now...

I love this move more than the BBC version! I knowm that the BBC version is more accurate but i prefer this version! Im in love for Matthew Macfadyen!!!

  • Does anyone know the titel of the song that is played at the beginning? I can't find it!!

Wonderful scene by the way! *sigh*

  • I dont know... sorry

  • This is my favorite scene from the movie

  • WOW. This is SERIOUSLY the BEST Scene EVER known to Man. Simple as that. It's...amazing.

  • this version is very very poor compared to 1995 BBC one! and i can t feel any passion in acting! :(

  • The BBC version of Pride and Prejudice is more accurate but this version is much more romantic. If you love the book exactly the way it is then the BBC version is better but if you want to see more obvious tension and passion in the Lizzy/Darcy relationship then this version with Kiera and Matthew is truly amazing.

  • This movie is a mistake, you should watch the 1995 BBC version, it's so much better. K. Knightley and good acting??? No way.

This impetuous quarrell couldnt be any farther from the very reserved (and still full of passion) dialogues of the novel.

  • i love this it is an awesome movie jane austin wrote it she is the one in becomig jane that jane austinn i love that movie also

  • this is just so amazing!!

  • Mr Darcy is perfect

  • This is the best scene in the whole movie !!! I love it !!!!!

  • This scene is so well acted it seems it has to be real. It's unbelievable. I love how she looks like she wants to kiss him. Drives me crazy!

  • I love this scene

  • Mr. Darcy = FANTASTIC.
