  • I am loving these dances. They just pump you up!

  • The American Samoa's are the absolute greatest part of America. Ever.

Samoan == Instant Bad ass mother F*cker.

  • Tongi a tongi a tongi e.....EEEE a tongi e! YESSSS!

  • Samoan Slap Dances always amaze me :)

  • something ive noticed about samoans or tongans specifically is that they are either muscular or just a big guy i never seen a tweener lol..i played high school football and college football with them so i personally know this..ive always liked there war dance though that shit tight

  • Haka is Maori.

  • The haka is truly Maori owned. But we samoans have always had a "war" dance. So you non samoans need not speak of what you don't have knowledge of. Polynesians are very similar in many ways. Dances like the taualuga or the haka is something that our cultures are not ashamed to share and do not take offensively when shared amongst our own Polynesian people. We are people with pride of who we are respectfully and humbly. Thanks to 60 minutes and LOVE to my people back home! Samoa le'i galo atu!

  • @miminini28 all i have to say is: it's one of the coolest, most intriguing things i've ever seen. i can spend hours watching samoan war dances, because quite honestly, it would scare the holy hell out of me if i was right in front of them.

  • There's no smiling in Haka! It's a war dance

  • @gunste1n I don't like that these people are claiming the Haka to be there own, but I think it's fine if Americans do the Haka, they are giving tribute to the Maori people. I also think these people suck at it. If they were good at the Haka and respected it's origin I would respect them for understanding the Haka and it's place in Maori culture. Americans may be stereotyped as stupid and uneducated (and some of us are), but in reality the uneducated are the people who stereotype us.

  • omg they look like people from southeast asia but just..bigger..

  • cana anyone translate?

  • why cant it just be balls

  • why does EVERYTHING have to become an argument? seriously, people. just enjoy the video.

  • @Juhkful1 First of all whats ur point and second of all, hate to tell ya this but I'm pretty sure your wrong. I'll Look it up.

  • stomp the yard aint got nothin on these guys.

  • All Polynesians do a version of the haka or ha'a tonga fiji samoa all have their own. The famous Ka mate haka is from the ngati Toa of Aotearoa and great offense is taken by other cultures that use it. as it is not in their tongue and the story it tells is particular to that country. In recent years the football teams of Hawaii have started to learn and teach their own haka's after originally using the ka mate haka.

    PLEASE GET IT RIGHT :)

  • daaaaaaaaaaa! i want to watch the freaking vid :P

  • @ Some sites, refreshing the site eliminates the ad....but sure...on youtube google makes you watch these crappy commercials

  • If I wanted to watch fucking ads I would turn on my tv.

  • does the video work?? the add is not loading or playing >:-/

  • what??? fucking ads!!!

  • fuck you cbs

  • what is the name of the song in the last part of the video

  • Samoan's don't do the Haka, I think it is called the Tau. The Haka is Maori.

  • GOLLY GOOPERS 31 SECONDS OF ADS!?!?!?! ON A FREE WEBSITE!? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU~

  • @sk8tertater Yeah its a free website...that takes MONEY to run it. Quit your bitching

  • @hawaiihypnosis sarcasm musubii boy

  • @sk8tertater ah my bad. Continue your fake bitching ;)

  • Football and rugby have pros and cons, What really is pathetic that were arguing over something stupid as that, If we can agree on one thing that Cricket is for homosexuals

  • Clearly none of you people have ever played football if you're saying its a pussy sport.

  • When will people get it right? Samoans don't do the haka, which is a Maori thing. We Samoans do the siva tau, which really means 'war dance'.

  • pathetic. little boys pretending to be men.

  • What a disgrace. Football!?!? WTF? This video is showing American "football" - a very effeminate, homo-erotic pantywaist game. This "Haka" is a pale imitation of the real thing. Please, reserve the Haka for RUGBY - a real sport.

  • @IanHJames ignorance is bliss too bad its an ancient battle song, way before the time of rugby, rugby team used it so now all of a sudden it belongs to the sport?

  • @erik113064 True. I think I meant to leave it to the All-Blacks - it is a Maori tradition.

I am, unfortunately, neither ignorant nor blissful.

I do think that Americans are always copying and ruining things. The All Blacks performing the Haka sends shivers up your spine - it's a truly powerful thing. Americans trying to do it just degrades the whole experience.

  • @IanHJames i agree, having seen the all blacks do the haka first hand it is both amazing and terrifying.

  • @IanHJames I'm American (also a fan of the All Blacks), and I think there is nothing wrong with Americans doing the Haka - given they do it right...

  • @IanHJames hey dumbass just a fuckin haka is only for rugby doesnt mean it cant be done for any other sport thats just like saying leave tattooing to samoans bkuz we were the first ones to do it... but its for everybody and if you got you facts straight only the polynesian teams like all blacks samoa tonga and fiji do hakas but it doesnt mean football teams cant do their own....so next time think before you talk smart ass

  • @FRISCOK1NG09 You lose the argument, because you resorted to an ad-hominem attack (name-calling, to you). American "Footbal" should make up it's own traditions, don't copy others. That is lame. It is also disrespectful - it is MAORI tradition, not to be usurped by imperialistic and ignorant American derivative cultural parasites.

  • @IanHJames actually youre wrong many samoans do it to appreciate their tradition and if they think football is imprtant then they have every right to do so you saw them doing it at the beginning and in modern day samoa football is one of the only ways off the island so football taes a big toll in samoan life fucking white idiot this guy is from frisco so im sure he is samoan and knows wtf hes tawkin bout so stfu

  • @IanHJames hey i thinks its spelled "football" not "footbal" so when you get your grammar straight then you can talk to me on a mature based level.

  • @FRISCOK1NG09 and um hey I think "thinks" should be spelt without an "s" and "I" should be capitalized like so.

  • Google adds are making youtube uncool !!!!!!

  • I am a warrior!!! I beat the enemy into a long far away orbit of the planet....that enemy? Breast cancer!!! This has become MY chant!!!

  • thats real dancing not the shit we see in stomp the yard or step up, high school cheerleaders should do this

  • is tonga, fiji, somoa the only ones allowed to do this dance at a rugby match? for both union and league?

  • Comment removed

  • @Rico8458 new zealand does it to

  • I actually truly think this training is excellent for any footwork requiring sport.

  • There is something about this video that makes me want to see "The Goonies" again, though I can't quite put the finger on it...

  • I remember seeing that when I was ten it was the coolest thing ever.

  • 0:01

  • Anyone irritated by the ads, get Adblock Plus. I'm using it and I have no clue what ads any of you are talking because this awesome add on :D

What high school was that at the beginning?

  • The slap dance is alright. Not the best, but not bad. I give them tons of credit for using the pate (wooden gong) because that is original. If they had used a keyboard for their dance, like many silly groups do today, that would have been embarressing - because that is not traditional. Stick with the pate and the fala, because that is what real Samoans use.

  • Wow, now thats coordination! Someone once told me that you could judge how good a fighter/warrior was by the way they dance. I wouldn't want to mess with these guys.

  • @sandydee2001 mike tyson enjoys dancing apparently but has two left feet so in response to what you've posted that would be a no

  • They could of at least played a Rugby ad or one of it's sponsors

  • They practice dancing so they don't piss off the valcano

  • soccer4o..yea it really is man..i didn't even kno they had this on 60 minutes..but yea man i can dance like them i got a video up of my school in hawaii dancin..called radford samoan club 2007..im on the top left corner..lol

  • I have watched this video because it is the ONLY one that "talks" about the HS Samoan team..the best American Football team in the country. 60 Minutes had a clip on them Sep. 19, 2010. I wish we could encourage our kids to see it..maybe all of us, and be inspired... They are living in the modern world and use traditional values: Respect, love and work. Then..clueless about the lack of "tact"..it shows: YT adds the:

    ADS!

Keep your 'sponsored" vids. I'm out..

  • chur my might polynesian brother's got some game cuzzy. could see micheal flatley doing a spin off to that. SAMOAN RIVER DANCE man that would be mean!! kia kaha!

  • all Polynesians have a similar heritage and bloodline and as a result, have similar traditions and cultural practices.

  • First of all, much respect to Maoritanga and Haka but to be fair, it seems as though the Maori of NZ get more recognition for their Haka dance and that is what is known to most of the world. However, other Polynesians always had their own dances that they did to prepare for battle and to make the assumption that non-Maori are "copying" NZ Maori Haka and making it their own is absurd. The Tahitians,Samoans,Fijians, Tongans among others have always had their own Hakas which isn't surprising since

  • @tupacamaru2 okay first off they aren't called haka... You can thank the All Blacks for taking Haka to the world not the Maori... The world is connected but still uninformed and people like you don't help because you clearly don't now what you're yappng about! Try stringing some facts together!

  • @bombertheelephant

My mistake in using the word Haka in reference to the other Pacific Island dances. However, my comment was prompted by a belief held by many that when other Pacific nations do their own dances before a game, that those nations are trying to copy Maori Haka. I once heard a guy say,"Why are those Samoans copying the Maori?" when the Samoan rugby team were facing off against another rugby team. And the University of Hawaii does a dance before their football matches and

  • @tupacamaru2 There were Samoans and Tongans Fijians and Hawaiian well before there was an Aotearoa let alone Maori. To talk of copying is a joke as Maori derive form their Polynesian forebears. FACT. A haka is not a dance let alone a war dance... what Tonga Fiji and Samoa perform are war dances as that's what the name of those pre-game performances translate into in English. The words of the haka do not speak of warafre at all!

  • @bombertheelephant HA the Haka wasn't made by the Samoans, Tongans, Fijians OR Hawaiians I don't know who did but I know it wasn't them.

  • @ziggythezigzagger well the point is we don't do the haka and that shit is pre-dated by the cultures around before them... We don't do the stupid fuckng - haka that's my point moron!

  • @bombertheelephant If anyone is a Moron it is you. We can do the Haka if we want to. Ever heard that this is a free country. No need to get your panties in a bunch you little girl.

  • @ziggythezigzagger little girl? Wow! What are you thinking about you kiddy-fiddling dipshit? LMFAO. I don't give a toss what you say basically becasue not only have you missed the point you clearly know fuck all about our culture or what I am talking about please do the world a favour and top yourself. No doubt it would raise the average IQ of that shithole you live in.

  • @bombertheelephant HEY there is no need to be an ass hole x-(

  • @bombertheelephant by the way I bet you don't even know where i live how would you know if it is a shit hole. Compared to where you live i bet it isnt a shit hole at all.

  • @ziggythezigzagger with your attitude and lack of truly functioning brain it wouldn't matter if you lived in the white house it would be a shithole cause you're there!...see that? It went right over your head and not for the first time. Go fuck yourself you're too stupid to have an opinion on my culture let alone anyone else's you fool.

  • @bombertheelephant

everyone is so quick to say they're copying the NZ Maori. My point was that the All Black Haka has become such a recognized dance that other Pacific nations' dances are not as known and when seen for the first time, they get accused of copying or emulating the Maori Haka in some way.

  • when u menat "football" u mean rugby

  • Wow!!!!!

  • Boy, incredible dance.

  • Haka is Maori. This is a Siva Tau. A modern copy of the traditional Maori that somehow made its way into the modern Samoan dances, thanks to the Media. I love it. It has a place in Samoan dance i think, but its not traditional. Good job regardless.

  • Now only if the lions stop trying to discredit the refs because some of them don't realize that for the last 2 Samoa Bowls, the lions took the MVP and they were huge reasons why Samoa won. Discredit the refs and the 2 wins don't count and those MVPs don't count either..

  • Zorba finished his ouza and walked over to the engineer. "The problem with you Englishmen is you don't know how to dance."

    katzanakis - Zorba the Greek

    (substitute the American Samoan coach)

    From Pago, JWad

  • My ex is from samoa & we are still good friends (: We do the haka before any rugby game (: These dances are so inspiring =!

  • I swear that one day i will memorize these dances and make it a ritual to do them before any athletic event i participate in.

  • The more I dance at the clubs and improve my footwork, the closer I am to playing for the San Francisco 49ers........Hopefully :)

    Go Ninersssss! And Go Samoaaaaa!
