  • What size head is this made for, exactly? It definitely does not fit my giant head!

  • I loved this hat. I started crocheting Thanksgiving weekend 2011 after watching your videos. And I have gotten fairly good with it.

  • @petinstructor Sounds like you are coming along very well. Please share a video response when you get some projects complete.

  • fantastic, as always. thanks a lot

  • i cant do this its to fast. DITCH

  • @kairitootie25 It helps a ton if you know the basic stitches for this pattern. :)

  • YAY!!! Thank you :)

  • what kinda yarn is this ur useing

  • @SouthernCrocheting I used 4 ply on one cap and 4 ply cotton yarn on another cap. Both turned out really well.

  • NVM. LOL. I FIGURED OUT WAT I DID WRONG. I WORK IN THE SAME SPACE AT THE BEGINING OF EVERY ROW AFTER CHAINING 3 STARTING ROW 6-16. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. GREAT PATTERN.

  • @annadan2003 Glad that you figured it out.

  • PLZ HELP. I FOLLOWED THE EXACT INSTRUCTION INCLUDING THE EXACT 4 PLY YARN AND I 5.5HOOK AND I DID IT TWICE. BOTH TIME TURNED OUT HUGE. 2ROUND INCREASE EVERY STITCH. 5ROUND INCREASE EVERY OTHER STITCH. I EVEN READ THE WRITTEN INSTRUCTION. IT'S STILL SO BIG :(

  • Made it many times until I realized I had to make it looser. Now it's perfect. Thanks. <3

  • How long does this hat usually take you to make? I love the pattern! I've made thousands... Haha.... And I always forget to time how long it took me!

  • very nice clear video.....& u r a good teacher too.......thank u so much for sharing this hat.......!!!

  • i made it and it came out too small too

  • thanx a lot for posting this, it's brilliant, i actually did this cap only of peach color yarn, looks perfect:) will try some other pattern

  • please tell me where to join, it always confuses me as to where to join in the round I know it is the top of chain 3 but where exactly, is there a video I can go to in order to see this in slow motion???Thanking you in advance Dot

  • @djjones46 i have the same problem :S

  • Perfect ! I'm a Nurse and in need of a 'not 2 hot' net'd styled hat to cover my dreadlocks lol ... this style is perfect... thanks :)

  • i have probably tried literally everything on youtube to learn how to make a hat but yours is the only one that helped me make a hat...i am so happy thank you

  • @AlwaysMyself97 I am thrilled to hear you have been successful with your crochet hat. Keep practicing with each new stitch and technique and you will be successful.

  • thank you soo much for your fast reply.....all your patterns are terrific......

  • what age is this for? I would like it to fit a 7-8 year old girl...thanks you very much

  • @kath448 It is an adult size cap. You can make it smaller by using a smaller crochet hook. A young childs head is not that much smaller than a full grown adult head.

  • Im trying to make this beanie but it's coming out to small what an I doing wrong I'm using regular yarn not 4 ply

  • @TheHaitianWen Most likely you are not doing anything wrong. There are many reasons that a cap will turn out smaller if you have not missed increase rounds and stitches.

    * The crochet hook you are using could be smaller

    * The yarn may be a different size

    * You may naturally crochet tighter

You will adjust by working more increase stitches and rounds.

  • Thank you very much. Last night I finished the cap and it looks good. :) For anyone have problems with this. Increase your work after row 6 : 2 hdc , ch 1 , 1 hdc , ch1 in the next 4 hdc. Next row: 2 hdc , ch1 , 1 hdc , ch1 in the next 5 hdc ... I think you won't need to increase more . Work the last row again and again till you have the right size . I hope this will be helpful to somebody.:)

  • im getting an odd seam. Help me!

  • @TheSupermadkitty what kind of an odd seam?

  • @tjw1963 u can see a seam running down the back of it when im finishing a row

  • @tjw1963 Ok thanks. is there a way to make it seamless? and do u have any tutorials on making a simple slouchy hat?

  • @TheSupermadkitty Yes, you can make it seamless. Instead of joining in the first stitch, go ahead and work in the top of the beginning stitch for the continual round. You will want to attach a yarn marker so you know where the beginning of the round is at so you can continue with each round and increase stitches.

  • @tjw1963 Thanks for the help it well appreciate it. let u know how it works out. do u have any tutorials on a simple Slouchy hat? wanna make some for the holidays

  • I just learned to do this like 2 weeks ago...but every time I try ur technique its too tight or looks nothing like urs..help...what am I doing wrong

  • @lilbg2003 It is possible that you may naturally crochet tight so you may need a larger crochet hook. Some crochet hooks are different sizes as well so even if your hook is the same size number it could be slightly smaller. You will need to adjust the crochet hook size or work more increase stitches and rounds.

  • mine looks good im not done yet but it looks all bent is that ok?

  • how long did it took you to finish it?

  • @disneystarlet1 This cap would have taken about 1 hour

  • about how long did it take you to make tht hat? btw you're tutorials are amazing[:

  • Hey Teresa, can I make this hat with a polyester yarn? And a I or H hook? Like super saver polyester yarn? For an adult

  • So what do you do with all the things you crochet?

  • @katiebui66 I still have almost everything I have made with the video tutorials.

  • @tjw1963 dont you sell any of those?

Me and my grandma do :)

  • hi, this is my first time making a hat... and well needless to say im having a bit of difficulty. around round five, when I was supposed to have only thirty stiches, i ended up with 38... how does that even happen? :S

By the way, you are an excelent tutor! All I've learned is thanks to your crochet tutorials! you're amazing, thanks so much for your videos :)

  • @tamr017 Thank you! Sometimes it is easy to work in an extra stitch. What I suggest is that you count your stitches and use a marker at the beginning so you can easily find the first stitch of each round. Count your stitches when you complete the round to make sure the count is accurate.

You are still below the 60 total stitches that will be needed for the hat. Hats are forgiving so you can adjust and modify instead of ripping out.

  • @tamr017 If you do end up with a few extra stitches, the chances are that the hat will still fit and work out properly.

  • What size head does this fit? How do you make the cap a certain size based on a head measurement??

  • @darcyraej This is an adult size hat, 22-24 inches. With crochet, there are a lot of variables that will affect the size outcome like the brand crochet hook you use, the yarn, and your personal crochet tension. Sometimes finding the right size may involve trial and error.

  • @desbe2002 you probably are forgetting or adding some increases thats all really... I might be right... If someone has a better answer take it I'm not the best with answering these sorta things.

  • I don't know what i'm doing wrong but in the cecond and third round my stitches start to curil in. it seems liek it starts to get smaller.

  • @desbe2002 If you miss an increase round or stitches, the edges will start to form to early. This could happen if you are crocheting to tight as well.

  • @desbe2002 it suppose to get like that, it because u are using decreases idk about this one if u are or aren't but if u use decreases it gets smaller

  • hello there I really love this pattern, can you help I want to make a toddler size one for my neice, do you have a smaller pattern? Thank you for teaching me to crochet.

  • Hi! I really like this pattern but I was wondering, about how many inches in diameter should the hat be by the time u get to round 4?

  • Hi, this is my first time trying to crochet a hat, so I have a few problems. Around round 2 or round 3, my hat starts to curl inward. Am I doing anything wrong?

  • Your voice is soothing. I'm learning to crochet, and your videos reeeeeally help! Not only are they evenly paced and informative, but your voice seems to reassure me that things will be okay! lol

    Thank you for posting these!

  • @HystericCouture How nice of you, thank you!

  • I just finished one these beanies for my daughter but, my 11 y/o grand daughter will likely swipe it though lol. Oh...I had to go up to a size K hook because I tend to crochet tightly...it worked out fine though and she is going to love it. Thanks once again for the wonderful videos.

  • haha, this was very helpful. At some point, I decided to take a break and put the hat on my head. When I wanted to go back to crocheting, I wondered where my hat was xDD

  • @RiisaX Funny! How long before you realized it was on your head?

  • @tjw1963 About half an hour. I ran around the house looking everywhere. I did not even realize it was on my head when I looked into a mirror! At some point, my mother asked what I was looking for and she told me the hat was right on my head. I feel so stupid!

  • Hi teresa,

i am using the same needle and yarn in the video, but it seems the hat is coming out small. i am making it for an adult male. any feedback? is the hat meant to fit tight?

  • @JUNEGRAD2009 It is possible that you may crochet tight or you are using a type of crochet hook that will produce a smaller stitch. If that is the case, you will want to work more increase stitches and more increase rounds to make the cap larger.

  • hi! i love this hat! just want to ask if this one is applicable if i use a fine yarn n a smaller hook? how will i know if i need to increase it or not coz i'll be making it for my 5 months old baby. hoping for your response. thank you!

  • I made 3 of these hats for my aunt that has cancer! I embelished with flowers and buttons, Im fixing to drop them in the mail, Thanks so much! I have been looking for a thin, maybe flowers, lace looking pattern for the fingerless gloves, do you have a pattern?

  • If I wanted to make this hat for a 3 year old using 4 ply worsted weight yarn what size hook would I need to use?

  • @junebug017 You can try a size G hook.

  • Do I have to join when Im done with a round because I cant find it when im donw with the row

  • @Missy2010Diana You can work in the continual round if you prefer, If you choose this technique, make sure you mark your round so you will know when to increase.

  • I WANNA DO THIS! i love hats like this but i've never crocheted before! and my mom doesnt crochet or knit well so idk i guess i have to watch this channel more

  • @xLadyxEx Please come back and ask questions any time if you need help

  • i heart your channel...i love the videos...last year i made the crochet puff stitch hat...amazing...i do have a question about this hat. can you please explain round 2..."join with a single chrochet" do i join in the chain three from the previous round or the single crochet from the previous round...thanks for your help and the great videos...thanks for sharing your talent with others.

  • im having problems with the single crochet join for the beginning circle?? how do you do it cuase i saw other videos how to join the circle but you do it differently how do you do it/??

  • wats wrong with the videeo .it keeps on jamming but other than that it AMAZZING DO U HAVE ANY THING EASIER SO I CAN TEACH MY FRIENDS

  • @MsAnglefromabove Have you tried changing the settings on the lower right? You will see 240p, 360p, 480p. Try changing to one of those to see if it will play better. You will have that option on all videos if you find they are freezing. I do have a hat playlist on my channel with a lot of easy hats.

  • Thank you so much for showing the crocheting in slow motion ... it really helped me out. I love cloche-styled hats and now I can make my own! Thank you again.

  • @thepamperroom You are welcome!

  • how do u do that pattern as a scarf instead of hat? plz gotta know as soon as posible

    thank you!

  • how do u do that pattern as a scarf instead of hat? plz gotta know as soon as posible

  • You are a genius! I love this skull cap. It was so easy for me to follow you, too. Thank you!! Thank you!!

  • on the video after round four you only say chain three, but i read the directions and it says to join then chain 3. This is day two for me trying to get past lets' say row 5. I can't see which stich you're placing the hook in to join each round and that's where I keep messing up. right now, I'm just doing trial and error but haven't come up on it yet. think i'll let it rest for a while and try another style like your kingston. that looks a bit more simple.

  • I've been trying to stick with these instructions, but after getting to round 6 I'm going to have to hang it up for now. My problem isjoining each row and not seeing where the stitch connects. At the beginning of each row, mine is consistantly wrong LOL! I think it looks great except for that.

  • ok, well I think I accidently figured out the join stitch, but everytime I tried to get 20 half dc's in round 2 I came up with only ten...so on the fifth try, I did two half double crochets in every stitch in ruond 2 and came out with 20. I hope that was right.

  • I declare you sound like you're speaking English, but I must hear it in Japanese! I'm frustrated because I love this hat, but I can't get past [chain 3, do 10 dc].! What I'm not getting is joining the first round. Your thumb is in the way and I can't see how or where you're placing your needle to join before going to round two. HELP!

  • what if i only have a small hook and a small size of yarn??

can you make me another instructions?

the size of my hook is only size 7

    please do it for me..

    i love your videos

    thank you

  • I love your crocheting but, your videos are just too fast for me to follow. I crochet hats using a simple technique. I just make a chain to fit the width of the person's head I'm making it for and crochet around it. Once I'm done with the length, I closed the top part of the hat by decreasing the stitches.

  • @amadison70 If the yarn or hook are a bit smaller, that will make the cap turn out smaller. Maybe you naturally crochet tighter. You would need to compensate by working in extra increase stitches and/or rounds.

  • @amadison70

Try watching the video & writing down the instructions. Pause video to get all the details, then follow your own notes - just a suggestion. !

  • theres parts where it skips in the beginning. i need help!!! :0 :(

  • @laurenloveslost17 What is time code for the part you are referring to?

  • @tjw1963 at 1:05 it like skips and i cant see what you are doing :(

  • @laurenloveslost17 The stitch at 1:05 is the same as the stitch at 1:07. It is a half double crochet. I also have a beginner tutorial for the half double crochet if you are not familiar with the stitch.

  • @tjw1963 thanks but i made the hat. it came out good! but it was kinda small... is there anything i might be doing wrong to make it that small?

  • HEY I HAVE MADE A COUPLE OF THESE HAT WONDERFUL TURN OUT, ACCEPT THE TOP OF HAT HAS A LIL HUMP I HAVE TO PULL TO STRETCH IT OUT I AM FOLLOWING PATTERN. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT COULD BE GOING ON?

  • @mrsdreazy05 I am not sure what you mean by hump.

  • @mrsdreazy05 hump as n doesnt lay flat up at top of hat

  • @mrsdreazy05 It sounds like the stitches may be to tight or some may have been missed. Try making them looser and maybe the hump will go away.

  • @mrsdreazy05 hump as n doesnt lay flat up at top of hat can u send a pattern for a child in detail

  • just made it...took me about an hour....love it! Thank you for sharing.

  • you're going to fast in the beginning!!!plzz can you made this video again!!!!

  • @audreypearl3197 I will send you the beginning crochet stitches.

  • 01:00

  • where do you buy this yarn from

  • @mrsdreazy05 You can purchase the yarn from Wal-mart or any craft store like Hobby Lobby or Joann Fabric and Crafts.

  • Gracias Teresa, estoy haciendo 3 como parte de los regalos de navidad para mis hijos y esposos. Son muy faciles!!

  • When I join each round, it looks clumpy....

  • ENTIRELY TO FAST...... ALL GOT WAS THE KNOT. THANKS!

  • @L3monH3ad89 The videos have pause and rewind. If you are new to crochet I suggest that you become familiar with the stitches first.

  • @tjw1963 tried the pause and rewind! but thanks again for the suggestion. but the craft was well put together!!! :-)

  • @tjw1963

this is the first video i have watched and its excellent.. did you happen to stay long enough to see it all in slow motion?? really shows what to do! other wise id be so lost too lol try to hang in there till after a few rows and its all in slow motion. ♥

  • i just made a baby skull cap with smaller hooks thanks so much u a great teacher will post it up so u can see it my family loves it

  • hi your work isamazing. Thanks fo explaining it so much

  • @lattegirl98 You are welcome! I appreciate the comment.

  • @resadrianlk Yes you can attach another color. You will cut the yarn once you are complete with the round you have finished, secure the tail. You will attach the new color in the next space with slip stitch and following the instructions.

  • I've never crocheted in my life. It was a little bit too fast for me...do you have a video to explain the basics? I think if you went slower i could follow this easily. I'm a fast learner...haha. Sort of.

  • @Caziola I have several videos that show the basic crochet stitches. I will send you the playlist.

  • hi there! well iam doing something wrong! lol... i seem to get the patter right from your demonstration. but now that iam on round 6 and keep continuing to go round i seem to be getting a point at the end of each round. i need help...

  • This is fantastic! You are an excellent teacher.

  • OMG. THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH.

I just learned how to crochet just an hour ago!

And now I'm half way through it!

  • @jerichomattt You are a fast learner! Keep up the good work!!

  • @jerichomattt ...What..Im trying to learn...need hat for tomorow

  • hi , your work is amazing. You make crochet very fun and not difficult like written instructions. How can i make the white light weight crochet beanie in a youth size .

    Thanks

  • @tjw1963 this is my first time making a beanie cap and let me tell you it turned out good keep up the good work i also love how u explain the whole thing ..

  • @manueloyou Thank you! :)

  • YAY, i just finished. It took me two days to make BUT it looks Wonderful. Thank you!

  • I just made this hat, followed everything, but there is no way it will fit me as an adult. It fit my friends baby who is 4 months old! I did everything you said to do. What do you suggest?

  • @vorisfam I used a size I/5.5 mm crochet hook and 4 ply yarn. You may naturally crochet tight. I suggest that you use a larger crochet hook.

  • OMG!! I made a beanie hat!! thank you soo much!! I am one fast learner... =)

  • @isa4evr Yes you are!! :)

  • Thank you so much again!!..I have made several of your projects and I love them all!! You are such a good teacher!!

  • @toni3583 Thank you.

  • I love your videos, but I have been trying to make this cap for 2 days now, and it seems no matter what I do my hat is round like its supposed to be, except for where you start the new rounds. there it is coming to more of a point so far into it. what am i doing wrong? I have been watching this video over and over, and I can't figure out why it won't come out right. that's the only problem i'm having. Can you help?

  • @mrsdearman2007 i suggest you just ignore it and finish the hat. At the end you can fix it if you cut the piont off and ssow it back togetther there

  • Perfect instructions to me! Is there anyway you can do a tutorial on how to add Cat Ears to a beanie? They seem really popular lately but I would have to follow you're step-by-step video to do this.

    Thanks !

  • way too fast and no good view of what you are doing.. thumbs down

  • @xlxteardropzxlx If you are new to crochet, this is not a project that you should start with. I recommend you become familiar with the beginning crochet stitches before you start with a project.

  • Nice... Only I keep losing you around the "make 9 more" part and end up with a giant deformed knot. :(

  • Okay. I think I know what I'm not getting. I got the stitch part down but I can't figure out how you get the four wraps. I can only do three right now. Tips? Suggestions? Do you have a video that covers how to do the four wraps? (2nd day of crocheting, btw).

  • ok guys i have a question since its my first time making a beanie what color does any one recomend to start with let me know it would be very usefull thanks

    PLEASSEE reply back

  • @doodmooshoo do u mean the ones that are baggy at the back and fitted at the front? I have been looking for that too, but cant find the pattern.

  • @theLoulou24

    yes exactly that one!

well if you get lucky and find the pattern or a tutorial vid

can you send me a message

    hehe...

    =P

  • @theLoulou24 @doodmooshoo Is this style cap something the both of you would wear or are you looking for something more solid and filled in?

  • @tjw1963 Thanks for helping us out. I am not sure of the name of this style but I do have 2 pictures of this style. If you are interested, would you like to see the look?

I can send the link via messages. I like the style of this beanie but not the colour hehe!

    Thanks again for replying :)

  • I have been crocheting for over 30 years. I hate crocheting alone. Watching your videos made me feel like I had a friend to crochet with, thank you

  • @lovstormyweather You are welcome! The Internet is a great way to bring us all together and crochet with each other. I appreciate the comment!

  • I have been crocheting for over 30 years. I hate crocheting alone. Watching your videos made me feel like I had a friend to crochet with, thank youl

  • Your Channel is great....I am a D.I.Y person all the way and I'm make my best friend's baby girl a Crochet hat with the little flower on it. and I love your channel cause i have never made a flower or a hat.... and how I'm happy that i found your channel it really helps. and i love the Mary Jane idea that might end up on my diaper cake as well. THANK YOU!!!!!

  • first day crocheting, did it, my left hand hurts xD

  • @asharma78901 You may experience some discomfort in your wrists if you have not crocheted before. Most likely it will go away as you practice and fine tune your technique.

  • I am having trouble joining my circles. As I work on the hat the point where I start a new row is getting taller and uneven. its cauing the hat to form a triangle on the joining side. When you join a circle how do you avoid this?

  • cool, you're quite dexterous too

  • Wow, it's like watching a spider make its web, lol! Dunno if I'll be able to do that tho...

  • @TweetyRock1 Practice and you will get the hang of it!

  • @MoodyStorm83 Thank you.

  • @starvingSmart80 Thank you.

  • hi

I need help on the 6th to 7th round. After the 6th round, do I still have to make the chain 3 before crocheting the 7th round and the ones after it? Every time i make a new set of chain, they seem to be loose and that part looks different than the other side of the beanie cap.

  • @Tiggerroo02 There are alternatives. You can try making tighter chains or you can work a chain 2 instead which will make a smaller beginning stitch. That should draw it in closer so it is not so loose.

  • @tjw1963 okay thank you! :D

  • thank you i get it know
