My uncle works for Ashley Force and after Eric died the team was given black bracelets saying Eric Medlen #4.My uncle let my family have them as well, I have had that bracelet since 2007 and have never taken it off.
great video really enjoyed it. i had the pleasure of meeting eric and john medlin that weekend in gainesville they were are truly good men. i feel the soorow as eric passed on my birthday
no, and I don't think they will. The only footage is security cameras from Gainsville, and I'm sure team force has some footage, because teams always film their runs. I doubt team force would ever release the video if it exists out of respect to John (Eric's old man)
Well more than likely it is just out of respect for the Medlen family. Like Ferrari fan said that team force probably has a video of the run....but there never gonna release it.....much like what happen when Darrell Russell was killed and ESPN never aired that run.
gotcha... i was thinking more along the lines of maybe the people in charge with safety trying to help make this sport at least a little safer.... but i'm sure they have access to the video... there's no need for all of us to see the video
Simply a beautiful, respectful tribute. It's troubling to see a life taken in this tragic way but one has to know that our lives are always preordained. Knowing that makes it somewhat easier to accept.
Eric Medlen was a true hero but he died to young. A friend of my brother died about to year ago from playing football at cal poly pomona. Everywhere is life and death. But Eric is hard to believe that he had pass away. R.I.P Eric. You will always be remember but never forgotten. 08/13/73-03/23/07
Because, my friend, there are no promises. We take life as we get it, or, we dive head first into the maelstrom, and grab life by the balls and say, "I'm living this life to the fullest", as Eric did. He was a class act.
Although the loss of Eric was so great, to have touched so many lives in such a special way is a life well lived. May God's great love surround his family and friends. We miss your smile Eric.
i will miss him he rocks but it is sad he died he did not do anything to make this happen thats what all the kids in jrs like me to be careful r.i.p eric your bigest fan and force lover
='( very sad... he was so nice and energetic.. i told him i race jrs... and he was really interested so i got to spend a day w/ him... it was really REALLY cool...R.I.P. eric u will be forever missed
I never had the privilege to meet Eric and watching him all the time on TV over the years, he was such a crazy goofy person with full of life. He certainly lived life to the fulliest everyday. I'll miss his cheerful demeanour, his goofy smile, his energy, and his affection for other people. I miss him and I've never met him. It's great that all of you are sharing your stories about Eric. They're very moving. Keep sharing them!
i went to my first drag race in Gainesville this March and had the pleasure of meeting all the Force's and Eric Medlen, very very nice people, very respectable. Sucks that he had to go but at least it was sumthing he liked to do, i got to see his last race.
i was at at brainerd this year and i went up to meet john medlen and two boys and their mom had a picture of eric from last year when he won up there he let the boys hold the trophy and john force was in on the picture it brought a tear to my eye, i met eric in st louis in 2006 he was the nicest guy at the strip he will always be remembered and missed by the fans thank you for the tribute
I remember the first time I saw a live NHRA event . . . the 1996 Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, I was present and witnessed a crash that killed the driver . . . it was during qualifying for the race, which would be held the following day, the driver . . . Blaine Johnson.
I will be at Brainerd. It is the 20th anniversary of the first time I was there at 9 years old. Except for Prudhomme in 1994, Eric Medlen and Dave Connolly's first win was AWESOME! It was hot, about 87 degrees. But, that night I couldn't stop celebrating when I got home. I hope to find a Eric Medlen or Ashley Force Shirt for Brainerd. Joe Amato said about Eric, "Say Hi to Darrell Russell for me!" Great tribute!
I met Eric last year at Norwalk RacewayPark for Night Under Fire. No one was going up to his trailer so my dad and i decided to go get him to sign my fire jacket. it was like was the only one that went up to his trailer. after i am done racing a jr dragster i am going to race a funny car like he did.He is in all of our hearts and will never be forgoten. A True Hero, True Friend, And He Is A True CHAMPION.
ihad a chance to meet eric at maple gorve of 2006 and i had gotten the whole force team to sign my hat and posters and of all of them he was the person who i had liked the most for he was the most socialble and from my thoughts was the unsung hero of team force eric you will be missed, gone but not forgotten R.I.P. Peddlin' medlen
I wounder if that will affect John Forces girls. They seem like tentative racers. If you have doubt as a driver or understand and accept the extreme risk, you have no business being on the track.
this was one of the nicest people i have ever met in my life i met eric last year in sonoma the race he won i got his hat from that race he looked like he was my dad r.i.p. why do bad things happen to amazing people
I have met many NHRA drivers, but didn't get the opportunity to meet Eric. But I amm looking forward to meeting him in heaven, because like Eric and his Father, we have recieved Jesus Christ in our hearts, and I will meet Eric someday. Thank you Lord........

I still can't believe he is gone. Thanks for the lovely tribute. He will be greatly missed, but we are all better for "knowing" him and his character.
Thank you for taking the time to make such a wonderful video for an NHRA driver like Eric! He is going to be missed! He always took the time to sign a shirt, a hat or even talk! He was a great driver. I am sure he is keeping Darrell Russel company up there! Just wanted to thank you! Great video!
being a born and raised Chevy fan there was always two names i diddint want to see in the finals, John Force and Eric Medlen. he was a force to be rekoned with he was the guy i loved to hate but respected for what he did with his abilities. God bless his family, team, and the NHRA nation. we have truly suffered a great loss R.I.P. Eric ill meet you again someday...
Eric, you told Brandon when He was down to eat some Ice Cream, no one's down when eating Ice Cream. Well My young friend I ate a gallon of Ice Cream during qualifications from Houston today. Your with the Greatest Ford racer now and those of us that are earth bound will see you someday. God Loves you and so do I. Frank Bay Ford racing since 1963
Jwalkin23, I think NHRA is holding the footage of the crash for respect of Medlen's family and team. I watched qualifying for the race thats taking place a week after his death, the commentators were talking about it constantly but no footage was shown.
for those of you that weren't able to make it to his funeral in Brownsburg, this is the video that was shown. very moving! both the video and the funeral. John Force seems to be taking this harder than anyone else and seems to be blaming himself quite a bit, he CANNOT do that, he has to go on, that is what Eric would want from him. and in Eric's Words "COME ON"
its so sad that eric had to leave this world so soon I remeber getting his autograph on my helmet at englishtown back in 04 I had little knowledge about who he was besides him taking over the seat from tony pedregon after he left to start his own team and that day he qualified first at the supernationals I was saddened by his loss last week I will treasure that autograph always!!!
Eric was a great drag racer and a great person he was so nice to everyone and all the fans, the NHRA will not be the same without eric, You will be missed eric but never forgotten R.I.P my good friend
my condolences to all members of JFR and his family and friends
Eric you are gone now, but you live in my heart with your humour and that smile of yours... You will be missed by us all.. God Bless your family and John Force Racing....
I am truly sorry eric had to leave us soo early, but we all know he lived his life the way he wanted, there was so much left to share with him,but all his pain is behind him now, confusion is now laid to rest!, we will remember eric through our own lives and his spirit will always live on ... r.i.p eric
Best ever. What a touching tribute. It hits home with me. There was an area drag racer who was good friends with a guy I work with. He died at age 31 last Sept. This video reminds me a lot of his; showing his race cars and childhood pictures. Awesome video.
I watched as he started, pulled for him as he grew and weep for the loss of a fine young man. I am sure God will welcome him to the his kingdom . God Bless his family. We will all mourn the loss of one of the heroes or the sport.
Awesome tribute! Eric will be missed dearly. He was an awesome guy and a great driver. The races just will not be the same now. I was fortunate enough to meet him at Maple Grove, and he was a truely great person. He left the earth way too young. It's very sad and I am sure it is an eye opener to all the NHRA racers. If it can happen to such a great driver, it can happen to anyone.
AN ABSOLUTE GREAT JOB!!! Eric will be greatly missed for many years to come! My thoughts and prayers go out to the Medlen family and anyone that was close to him. Rest In Peace Eric!!
Thanks for a nice tribute to a super human being that left us way too young. Many people say nice things when people die that aren't true, but Eric was indeed what everyone wishes he could be. RIP Eric, I can't believe I won't get to see you at Reading and E-town anymore.
