Endever when I first started throwing I strained what you did. its called the Rhomboid muscle.. just let it heal, it gets sore when you are using your arms and shoulders too much like you are doing.. The pop was probably your back cracking or something. you would know it if you cracked a rib.
Stop dragging the weight. PUSH the weight. It's not the discus. The weight should lead the throw, not drag behind you. Watch elite hammer throwers to learn the technique. Drills, drills, drills.
yeah you pulled it. I did that last year and my freshmen year too. No matter what, make sure you take the time to recover, I didn't and it cost me most of my indoor season.

thanks...but like a week or wo after i broke my elbo and had to get surgery so ive been out for a whle....hopfully ill be good by outdoor

you are dragging the weight. I'm guessing you pulled a 'rear-rib' muscle about 1/3 the way up your back?
